This is so awesome!
Can’t wait to watch that monster samurai crawl around on the rocks.
Yeah Matt! Love you bud! Hope I can get a like back would make my whole month!
We want to see
@CaseyLadelle & @BruceCookfmx teamed up..
@RVLexicon me too!!!
@@jacoblanda2731 needs a life.
Well, it was not as good as last year. I would rather see it like the first year if you do it again.
I run a dirt work company and live about 1h north of you - I’m happy to come down with an excavator and help for a day on the rock garden build!!!
thats what makes wheeling fun😊............ people LIKE you that give a BIT OF THEMSELVES. its also what i LOVE about the backpacking community !!!!!! putting SELF ASIDE just a BIT to lend a hand to someone ELSE. it'll come back around i PROMISE YOU !!!!!!!!!! ( maybe it has already and THAT is y U r who u r at THIS moment in time ? ). ATB amigo !!!!!!!!!😊
That's an amazing offer. I don't know you, but I am already proud of you. Anyone seeing your comment should go subscribe to your channel as a thank you.
@@TrevorDennis100well I sure appreciate that!
I’m totally onboard with rig owners who are excited, and very understanding with those rig-owners who are apprehensive.
idk... it really sounds like they are not interested at being equal to anyone jumping in their truck...
beside... what can happen? scratching the paint... these people aren't toddler they all have cars, don't need to be super skilled to follow a spotter at 3mph...
The competition is a challenge of your spotting, patience and communications skills. The bet is “your rig.” I can understand people not wanting to make that bet.
It's an event that they use (smartly) to bring communities together and gain subscribers.
Every youtuber will show its own competition, and the partners will show each other a lot.
So there is an aspect that isn't mentioned in your bet, its the new relationship built in this event, and the game of subscribers, i.e. income.
Yes, it's a fair decision to not participate, and everyone has to accept that. But it's also a fair business model. There is potential gains offered. So it's a calculated decision to be made. But also, if you look at the youtuber selected as drivers, if my memory is correct, those are people that are level headed, that understand mechanics, and that will respect each other's equipment.
And then, we don't know the fine prints... Is there a form of insurance for the event? Are those rigs insured? I would be surprised if it was a "f you" if you lose it. But it could be.
@@fabr5747Those insurance and liability issues are something I would want clarified in writing beforehand… This sounds downright sketchy to me.
The bet is “your rig"? When did he say that? The TH-camrs for the most part are not bringing a rig. So....?
One member of every team is bringing a rig and is a TH-camr. Other member of the team is a TH-camr with no offroad experience and is driving, hence the bet is your rig issue. @yrex2968
@@fabr5747 apparently alot of you just dont get it a large%of offroad rigs are not insured because they cant be the epa deems them offroad use only and theres n o insurance now take fabrats for example who decided it wasnt for them pauls wrecker has a ton of sentimental value he put thousands of hours of work into it and to then put it in the hands of an unskilled driver and if god forbid something happened its just too bad there should not be any doubts or questions about those who arent going
I generally don't let others drive my rig, and I definitely wouldn't want someone who doesn't have a clue how to drive offroad, take it over a large obstacle. Sand hallow and moab are not your typical wheeling experiences for 90% of the offroad community. Those guys in Utah are lucky to have such a wonderful place to wheel basically all year long. The rest of us don't see rock like that except when we make the trip out there.
Need a tissue little guy?
@@1rstTrywhen someone gets hurt or ends up dead think of that disaster. Especially if Matt's curse continues since last year someone died
@@jamesbigham9036 You know what you're not being fair at all. If I recall didn't, he has a heart attack. Regardless to imply that Matt has a curse is just plain B.S. on your part. Grow a pair or pair but if you're going to talk about liability do so but don't be an ass.

Some tips with using that new machine of yours. I am an excavator operator out here in Colorado. When digging you want to make sure that you're scraping the dirt and rock with the teeth and not the back of the bucket. What works for me is I take the dirt down in layers. If the dirt is hard to dig in I'll keep scratching layers until I get enough loose dirt to get a full bucket, then I'll scoop the dirt out. In addition to digging with the teeth is you won't be wearing out the bucket itself. Since the teeth are the wear items. That also means you won't have to weld crisscross beads all over the bucket to keep it from wearing out. When the teeth wear out don't throw them away, you can weld some AR plates to the tips of them and reuse the teeth. That way you're only buying a second set of teeth and not tens or hundreds of teeth (depending on how much you use the machine).
I agree with Paul Cox in that the personal liability is just too high for it to be a good idea. I think Matt would have been smart to keep to the original formula that worked so well last year.
I think there is more than we know going on between Paul and Matt but I agree with Paul. Too much liability and he works too hard on his rigs to let a stranger mess it up.
@@user-qp2yn5ko8r Paul Cox and his family is celebrating his sons birthday on March 14. That's why they are getting all those Sand railcars

This is the ultimate collab. Two of my worlds crossing over 😂
off-road x F1 content.
Good luck in the games, I think it will grow everyone's channel who are involved, I mean, I now subscribe and watch Robbie Layton, fabrats and trail master thanks to their involvement with Matt...... and now I'm subscribed and will be watching your channel thanks to competition (said in the most light hearted way) ...👍👍👍
I had never heard of 'Dirt Lifestyle' until I saw this video pop up in my feed, I clicked on it because I thought it was something bad about Matt, which it wasn't. I enjoyed it and have now subscribed so I will have another interesting video channel to watch.
Actually, when they looked at the numbers it wasn't great for them. Casey LaDelle (one of the judges last time) did a video talking about it. Since there was an embargo on the participants to wait a week before posting videos, everyone on TH-cam watched videos posted by the audience and were burnt out on the "Wrecker Games" by the time the official videos could be released.
As a result, Casey LaDelle and other participants had less views than if they would have just stayed home and did their normal thing. Also specific to Casey, it's during his busy time of the year and he lost a lot of work to attend.
@@Marf-yt Yeah, I think they did it a lot better this year. Live stream, and somehow getting a full video out in like, a day. Camera guys and editors probably pulled a 16 hour day or some shit. I do not blame Casey or anyone else who chose not to participate in it this year. Everyone has their own time lines, budgets, schedules, and risks they are willing to make. Completely respect it.
I am excited to bring Team Truck Melanoma’s melanoma outreach to the Offroad Games. We too have been having people back out, but I plan to stay the course! I’m excited to meet everyone, pass out some sunscreen samples and educate on what to watch for on the skin in terms of melanoma and other skin cancers.
It’s going to be a great event!
Getting to see the Sami in person is honestly one of the biggest reasons I’m looking forward to going to the games this year! Stoked you’re still in despite the risks!
Almost an Austin Powers moment in the mini loader at the end! 😂 Good luck and have fun!!!
Lol, dude, this Mini is hilarious in person 🤣. If I don't flip it the first month on the new property, I need to buy a lottery ticket
@@DirtLifestyle It won't be able to move a very big rock at all. For excavators need weight and size to keep them stable. My boss has one twice the size of that and don't lift much. Good for digging trenches but not much more.
Can’t wait to see you guys out there
I look forward to meeting you, bro 🙌
its the problem of wanting to win versus wanting to have fun. matt's contest is about having fun!... oh, yeah and its a competition. enjoy!
There are some really fun paintings for this event. Your team is the one Im most excited to watch!
Paintings ??? Or Pairings ???
Wow, I don't know if I could do it. If I had a dedicated buggy that is meant to be wheeled until it breaks and is safe enough to let someone else break it, then maybe. But I don't have a dedicated buggy so letting someone else hard core wheel my Jeep, nope.
My favorite rig at the games for sure, it was awesome to meet you and see this thing in action! Your partner did awesome too!
Basically I have noticed that ANY channel that gains massive popularity like Matts Offroad for being an incredibly fun and entertaining channel, then also gets blamed for having massive success.
It’s basically a catch-22. People want you to be a really good channel, but then get mad when being a really good channel leads to high levels of success, which in turn leads to more responsibility and the need to widen your channels ability.
The whole point of this event was to bring TH-camrs together to drive offroad in a fun and controlled fashion. Not that complicated. But after that the massive success of the wrecker games that is what people ASKED for, bigger and better.
Nailed it 💪
Maybe people don't want to be involved with a fraud AAA person and a tax dodger on probation
I feel like your implying that Matt’s viewers are getting mad because they want bigger and better… I don’t see that.
More like jealousy from other TH-camrs…
@@FracturedNinja I’ve definitely seen that. More and more polarized viewers.
I get the impression that Matt is the kind of guy that just wants to share his success with everyone else he knows.
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
This partnership could be really interesting to see
Glad to see your participation
I think it is awesome, to show someone what you love to do. Good luck 👍
I was super sketched out, until you said who it was that’d be driving the Sammi - dude you hit the jackpot!!!
Regarding the soft top on the Samurai, it occurred to me, that you could go to a company that makes custom soft tops for boats, and have them make a top to your specifications.
Buy a chinese shoe repair sewing machine (100ish)you can sew tires together.. A top isnt that hard
Or any awning/canopy company
I just subbed. Never seen you before, but checking your videos out, looks cool.
I really like that you trust your work/build e ough to take the challenge !
I like cool builds of all kinds, just like people, places and food.
Scott seems like he's one of the best teammates you can get in terms of skill! Also a good youtube, wishing you two the best of luck!
Rock it, Nate! Have a blast
Way awesome man, good luck!
You lucky bastard. Love Driver61. Can't wait to see how you two go
Oh my goodness. You are partnered with Scott Mansell! I will be routing for your team then, 100%. I have followed Driver 61 and the now defunct Overdrive channels forever. Scott is an amazing driver on tarmac, and still holds a lap record at Brands Hatch (which he does like to keep reminding us of). I think he will be a quick learner, and he will certainly have the nerve to do scary stuff.
As to people pulling out, I was not impressed when Fab Rats Paul said he was not going, and it sounded like he'd thrown his toys out of his pram. I hear what you say about safety etc. Paul is a good and close friend of Matt Wetzel, and IMO should have shown support for his friend.
Honestly hoping to see the event from your eyes, and the conversations you have with Driver 61. Glad you guys did well!
Look forward to seeing you at the Games.👍😎✅🙏💪
Sounds like it will be a lot of fun. Thanks for the video
Congrats on winning the lotto! I'd love to be there, but I'll have to settle for the videos that come after.
I've been waiting for this event since the last one ❤
Just came from watching the off road games and man your rig looks awesome! Definitely going to subscribe
You better be going. This is a perfect event for dirtlife
I think that the challenge Matt has posed to competitors is a bold one based on what HE enjoys: pro-social outreach and mentorship. You know, grown up high EQ stuff.
Some tough guys ain’t so tough when it comes to trusting collaboration
High bass or treble? Which one do adults use?
@@drink15 He's on a different frequency ;)
Looking forward to this too!!!
We will see ya out there, coming in from AZ! We are driving our rigs and plan to hit some dirt while we are there!
Can't wait to see the rollovers
Just hearing about this. See ya next year.
Since 84 I've been Jeeping anything.
One of my great joys is introducing anybody to off roading.
I even took my friend that was blind and let him drive on dirt while we all yelled which way to turn.
Yes he crashed several times but it was at 5 mph, so yeah🎉
Anyone who cant share isnt hanging with me.
I personally would be against, having a random person that knows nothing about wheeling, wheel my rig that I built from the ground up
If i had a rig that's worth $$$ I be dammed if someone else is off roading it with no or less experience.
The TH-cam algorithm wins again. Watched this a few days ago and today one of Driver61 videos comes up as a recommended video. Can't wait.
The Sammy's the most fantastic, graceful, little gymnast I've ever seen going up a trail. It's so smooth up the trail and has a recognizable shape, not just a jungle gym of bars it makes great video. And has a underdog element to it I love.
Wish I could make it. Had planned to but emergencies happen and wife has to be out of town for the next month or so. Enjoy Nate!
Well, I hope everything gets better at home brother 🙏.
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
very understandable... but also why it is going to be awesome!
Can’t wait to see this!
Former pro road racer turned off-roader. First time out, I thought I was gonna die the entire time.
So, yes, it’s a good partner, but it’s still learning curve.
What a valuable perspective 👏. Thank you for sharing
@@DirtLifestyle Make sure to keep the tradition alive 😂
But, and it might be an essential distinction... Scott will be guided by someone that can take instructions quickly. And I guess that you didn't get spotters the same way he will.
@@fabr5747 I was just a passenger, driving would’ve been even worse, lol.
Don't feel bad when Rory Irish puts on a clinic.
Not being able to pick your teammate, or being able to compete as builder teams is stupid.
I understand why you have that perspective. I'm really curious to see how it all works! The cool thing is this is the only event I'm aware of that the primary focus is TH-camrs. They are trying everything they can to get as many of us in one place as possible and expose our channels to the world. I really appreciate what they are trying to do with this.
Matt is doing the NFL- swiftie thing. Trying to draw in viewers from other areas that he wouldn't normally have.
Nate, have fun, enjoy the moment, avoid the poorly maintained vehicles and kick some butt. Spend some playtime around the area making content while you are there.
Brillliant comment @@DirtLifestyle
It makes perfect sense. If everyone got to pick their teams, they'd just pick the best or people they know, and there would be 0 outreach, which completely goes against the goal of the event.
It's like kids playing dodgeball. You're going to pick the best in line and ignore the rest. Matt doesn't want a fierce competition as much as he wants everyone to forge relationships and experience something they probably wouldn't see otherwise.
Matt probably could have thought of a better way to meet the goal though, maybe each team gets a stock jeep, and they have to modify it as a team. You have to consider how much more expensive for each team something like that would get though.
This will be awesome!
So glad y'all are going to be there. Stick is the only way to go for me . The clutch can save your butt before you turtle over backwards. Looking forward to seeing your video from the game's
Love the videos keep up the good work
You need to be really nice to this guy so you can learn to drive an F1 car…
I've driven a Nascar and it was insane! I reached 180 and it was so much faster than it looks on TV. I couldn't imagine F1 😳
I have been a happy subscriber for a long time now and I never knew Nate was 6’-1!
Not to be able to drive your rig? Worse having a total stranger do it. Nah. I can see why people are backing out.
They don't a have a rig to put in it
The whole format makes no sense to me. Not interested at all.
Waaaaaaaa
Hey Nate, regarding the winch problem during king of the hammers. You should add and inline battery isolator / shut off switch between the positive terminal on the battery and the positive connector on the winch. Just incase something happens again.
A cut off switch was the first thing I did when I got back 👍
In the beginning, I was apprehensive about this inexperienced driver idea. But im starting to see Matt's Ultimate goal. These types of TH-camr events attract veiwers and increase subscribers. Usually only subscribers of the same genre. But this event will be drawing in a much wider and diverse set of veiwers. Hence outside of the base pool of subscribers.
From what I've seen, all the non-offroaders are people very familiar with vehicles and/or machines. They aren't computer geeks living in Mom's basement. Matt was very careful with who was chosen.
Well, just your association with MORR has gained you another sub. I'm looking forward to the ORGs and seeing you compete. Wil be catching up on some of your content now.
That samurai... Beautiful.
Best of luck, just go and have a great time.
Good lord I am over the moon excited for this! 😂😂
This is gonna be fun!
I HAVE FOUND THAT TEACHERS MAKE THE BEST STUDENTS.
And I have found the exact opposite because they already know everything.
Good luck Nate 👍
Thank you!
Bro u get driver61... I love that guy. I think he can drive anything with tires and a steering wheel..
Looking forward to this event! Coming from 1/4 mile racing and some rally style stuff, I can tell that I almost shit my pants the first time I went down a, not so steep, incline 😂 but if you're a driver person you will get it 👍
Sub's cannot wait to watch you guys on all the different channels.
We'll be there!
You better say hi!
@@DirtLifestyle gotta grab a samurai shirt!
See ya there
Come say hi 😁
Way to keep it positive, your only competition might be Ed Boylan of Vin Wiki.
I like the changes they made. Also I am a subscriber to Matt's off road.
You may have went a little small with your mini-ex there. The size of a machine dictates how much work you can do with it. The machine needs to be matched with what it is doing, a little on the smaller side is usually better, but that one is one step above a hand shovel.
Lol, this machine is even smaller in person 😂. But it will fit perfectly in between my new shop and the Hill next to it. I need to dig drainage in a bunch of spots on the new property. I have a few machines that I absolutely loved when I did construction but all are outside of what I can afford. Plus after years of making a living working a shovel, I can verify, this little mini is better than back breaking labor
To be fair, what rig wouldn't be great with 43s? Can't wait to see it!
Lol true. I'm so pumped about it
Mine wouldn't be great with 43's, I would hate to down grade from 47's.... 😁
Subbed...and good luck man!
4:06 are you subtly trying to compare your "single seater" experience to Scott's? Haha I love it. Super pumped to see two of my favourite automotive creators from opposite ends of the space teaming up on this one!
Lol well... I am now! I didn't think about it from that perspective!
Im looking forward to Nate creating a new friendship and seeing him learn how to drive formula1🤘🇺🇲
no way, You got Scott Mansell as your teammate? I've been mostly ignoring the Offroad Games, but that is likely to change. Good luck, and with the landscaping too.
Good on ya backing up the folks who've decided to pass. Tough calculus for sure deciding if the risk/reward works out right for each of them. 🍻
Im not even sure who backed out other than fab rats, but honestly I probably would have too. the concept is cool but the stakes are pretty massive
I don’t like the concept at all. I’m totally uninterested this year.
I haven't seen anyone else back out, and I've been keeping up to date with it.
Where was it posted that fab rats backed out?
@@darekmistrz4364 Fab Rats posted a video letting their fans know they won't be there.
@@heididave0810 Which one? I skimmed through thumbnails and didn't see it explicitly mentioned
I think you need a MORR sticker on that yellow mini!
it is not really a competition. I think it is what you bring to it. It's just a chance to hang out with people you don't normally get to. The rules are made up . Some will have little skills some a lot. Just a chance to have fun and empower people with something they are not comfortable with. As long as everyone helps each other it should be a good time. It is good that ones with skill are helping those without.
I would love for the opportunity for my channel to be invited to the games, congrats Nate! Man yall are going to have a lot of fun!
Epic pairing
Knew a fella years ago who lost an arm in a rollover - he was fully experienced having competed for decades but managed to lose the plot and an arm in a fairly tame roll. People can't help trying to prevent the unpreventable by sticking a limb out in response to danger. That would be my greatest fear letting a novice loose on those slopes.
This sounds amazing.
Wow. That’s a crazy SJ413 😍 Subbed .
Thanks! Welcome aboard 😁
Lol, this will be a very interesting competition!😂
You need a Matts off road recovery sticker on the mini excavator 😂
Would love to see a review of that mini excavator, specifically in comparison to the small backhoes that go on the smallest kubota’s or John Deere’s. Been wondering how they compare in digging force.
I will be rooting for team pickle!
Thank you! I'm really looking forward to meeting my teammate. He seems like a bad ass 🤘
@@DirtLifestyle there's something to be learned from everyone!
See you out there! Hopefully we can shake hands
Scott is well versed with the whole dynamics of not just a racecar but cars in general and is very good with the dynamics . suspension and etc. I would take this opportunity to pick his brain with regards to suspension and overall dyanmics that u can improve on ur projects. In short your in good hands.
Seth from berm peak would have been a good fit also! Technical mountain biking seems like it could translate well as we are used to making line choices. He’s also got RC crawler experience!
Yeah, I wouldn't want a rando driving my rig either. Totally understand why people would back out.
Worst case if someone got their rig wrecked it would still be worth it from just the exposure for their respective channel.
I wouldn’t participate. If anyone is going to bang up my rig, it will be ME!!
There seems to be some confusion I've seen that the drivers will just jump into their vehicles on day one without being accustomed to it. It's my understanding from Matt that the competitors will have plenty of time to train with each other, get to know one another and their vehicles etc. and do some team bonding. Probably making content the whole time for their channels because why not!
I'm subbed to Driver61 and of course MORR. And now you. Holy random good algorithm recommendation. And agree, you hit the jackpot; Todd from ProjectFarm would have been great as well.
The one wildcard I'm really looking forward to seeing though, is Devin AKA Legal Eagle. Absolutely nowhere on his channel would you get the impression he even owns a car!
I went wheeling the first time, in moab with a brand new 100k Jeep Wrangler 392. My unexperienced girlfriend was my spotter. We had a blast, no damage and drove it home. Just takes common sense, a little mechanical aptitude and patience all around. It's not rocket surgery.
I'm 6'5" and 330 and drove a sammy for years! lol. I love those things, but I wore that car more than rode in it. Such great little trucks
