These people have amazing voices. I've been coming back here. This production even stir my emotions more than some of the professional productions I've seen here on youtube.
First of all, fantastic job to everyone involved, sounds wonderful! What surprised me moreso than the great singing was actually how powerful this becomes when performed by high school students. For me, it highlights that there were many who fought far too young and had to grow up far too quickly. Really great job.
I don't understand people complaining about women singing Bui Doi? Doesn't matter how many women actually fought in Vietnam, aren't they still allowed to support an organisation that helps children in need? I don't understand.
The licenses for this production states that women can't perform in this production. Along with your not allowed to costume, set or light the show to close to the original show
@@charlie-oc4460 There are literally women in the original production. There a even female roles. And besides, there are multiple ways to produced a show legally. And since Kings Academy has never produced a show illegally I doubt they did this time.
There is a lot of flack in the comments about this song. Yes, I was hoping for a crackerjack group of male vocal students singing this song, but let’s remember how demanding this show is. Technically, musically, and dramatically. They all did a DAMN good job. Let’s use this as an opportunity to draw attention to the channel and keep their phenomenal arts program strong. Happy Holiday!
They're called Bui-Doi The dust of life Concieved in hell And born in strife They are the living reminders Of all the good we failed to do That's why we know Deep in our hearts That they are all Our children too
That was excellent! The John has a nice, clear voice. There was another MISS SAIGON on here, from Interlochen Arts HS in Michigan, that had my absolute favorite student version of "Bui Doi." Alas, the video seems to have been taken down from TH-cam.):
Yes....it's obvious they're missing the point and just amalgamating another great work of art, into the sea of unawareness and distraction that makes up this wonderful world of ours.
very talented I really enjoyed your rendition of this song I actually had tears in my eyes. I just finished watching the 25th Anniversary Cameron MacIntosh version online and the professional actor who performed this song did a really good job but i thought you were better.
It gives context to the emotional hook of the show. Mixed race children after the Vietnam war were essentially ostracized by their society. Kim knows that, she knows Tam will never have a good life in Vietnam, and that's why she goes to such extreme measures to get him out. Plus, the song sheds light on a real life issue we didn't really consider after the Vietnam war. Kim and Tam's story probably happened in real life. Dozens of times.
@@stevenrobinson4295 I'll analyze both and get back to you. Not saying it is theft of intellectual property only that it serves the same purpose and uses the same techniques.
@stevenrobinson4295 Well right away while I'm still at work. Lyrically it uses a separated clauses to describe the past and contrast them to less innocent present day. "I dreamed a dream in time gone by" "Like all survivor's I once though" Both 8 syllables in the same rhythm
This was a fine performance, but past performances had a bit more conviction. Perhaps the larger than life ensemble overwhelmed the soul of the number. This gave me a bit of PBS fundraising show.
Lil Dumplin Out of 2,700,000 American soldiers that fought in Vietnam, only 5000 were women. Schöberg did wrote the harmony, melody and Boubil didn’t write the lyrics to reflect Bou Doi that way. Just artistic intentions

I knew I recognized that person playing John from somewhere. He’s the one who gave that valedictorian speech.
The best song from Miss Saigon

Thank you for bringing up our responsibility to these children.
It’s a musical
Ok wait I’m confused about this comment. This is part of the story

Happy Holiday!
Oh my goodness, the act 2 sets look as amazing as act 1! So exciting!
They're called Bui-Doi
The dust of life
Concieved in hell
And born in strife
They are the living reminders
Of all the good we failed to do
That's why we know
Deep in our hearts
That they are all

I love it better with all men (chest) voices sung with crisp precision.
In my personal opinion women shouldn’t sing bui doi, but they all still sound great tho!!
My guess is that there just weren't enough guys in drama to fill up the chorus.
Yes....it's obvious they're missing the point and just amalgamating another great work of art, into the sea of unawareness and distraction that makes up this wonderful world of ours.
Worse than that, they ruined a good song.
Cintia umm you ok hon?

This song is identical to I dreamed a dream.
Not even remotely similar!!! 😂😂

women singing Bou Doi
Finn Rowden So?
Lil Dumplin

Finn Rowden Lol it sounds great anyways
"That war was a ..." what? 🤔
Sham.
The addition of the female vocals ruins the song for me.
“That war was a sham”? Where are the original words?
Christian school
“When I’m home I won’t give a damn.”
