Shabana was very jealous of Smita (who was a better and more versatile actress) and treated her badly. More recently she has treated Kangana rather poorly. Not exactly the signs of a wonderful person. But she seems down to earth and not snooty, so i give her that. She is probably a better actress although limited in range. i dont think she would have pulled off Parineeta, Dirty Picture like Vidya did.
Feminism does not say all females are innocent morally upright human being. A female politician can be corrupt too (which is as bad as a male politician being corrupt). In reality, actually accepting flaws of women and judging on the same scale as of men will do much good than expecting idealistic bullshit like all females are flagbearer of morality. There are all kinds of women, just like men. All in all I would accept Shabana or Vidya protraying a dark character as long as the film does not glorify and justify those characters' acts.
you just spoke my words. i wanted to hear that from shabanaji. those women who criticised her, i doubt whether they understand feminism completely.i mean they might still have a complete insight. because women are expected to be moral or flagbearer of morality. but the change that is needed is that the other humane shades of women need to be accepted, to be understood and given a space to be expressed and exhibited.
Questions from Javed Sahab and SRK were incredible... they brought so much life to the conversation..Answers were great obviously 👍 Love you both amazing women ❤️
What she said is so true, because everything is out there and so accessible we need to be more opinionated about every aspect of every field and once we commit to an opinion we limit ourselves from looking beyond it making us restrained rather than freeing us up. Food for thought indeed
i wish this episode was longer. these two women are incredible, fresh with knowledge and so eager to share their experiences with so much wisdom! loved it
Film Companion Truly incredible interview! Such heartfelt interviews without a human mediator is such a relief! I'll have a good night's sleep, thanks to you, FC.
Please do a season 2 of this!! Kajol-Karishma Kapoor! ShahRukh Khan-Priyanka Chopra Bipasha Basu-Aishwarya Rai Bachan Rishi Kapoor-Alia Bhatt Radika Apte-Varun Dhawan Jackie Shroff-Juhi Chawla
I mean I love LOVE both of these women and thanks FC for bringing us these gems, but it felt awfully like (in this video and the last one) that Shabana Ma'am wasn't allowing Vidya to complete her trains of thought. Granted, Shabana Ma'am is much more senior, and thus even Vidya was giving her the respect and podium she well deserves, but maybe Shabana Ma'am should also listen to what Vidya has to say about things. Like for example, Naseer Saab was giving enough space to Kangana in the previous episode. Anyhoo, loved these interractions ❤️
Yeah and the fact that she's much senior is kind of established. It didn't need to be kind of enforced in the conversation. It would have been more enjoyable had it been a conversation between equals.
I think Vidya set the tone by bigging Shabana ji up right from the get go. I'm not sure why she didn't mention Sridevi as her inspiration as she spoke so much about her during Sullu promotions. I think Vidya was in awe of her and didn't really challenge her opinions whereas Kangana did disagree with Naseer sir.
I loved the point made by Vidya about " why " watching a movie with the frame of reference of any morals is important. We can't take stories that way, a story can have everything and nothing at the same time . Why a movie has to be always about moral values or something. Why can't a story be shown in just the way it is. And let's just accept that there are a lot of moments in our own life when we forget about morality ,when we are in our vulnerable state , when our life is ugly . I just wonder if mainstream Bollywood movies would show us something in realistic way where people are mean and where people are different kinda nice . PS : I don't want to spread any hatred or anything negative .it's just my wish and views as a viewer
Bro instead of showing moral values ig bollywood should show the truth of life nd different aspects of the world seriously like why not we wanna see the reality not these moral values which are already taught nd learnt in school days
these kinds of series are needed to launch in netflix and amazon prime and also other otts.then only we will be having real dimension and layers of life.we need this so that we can have our moral values.to think a particular concept or topic from different angles.these will really make us real thinkers and builds up our ethics
So important to have such conversations. It would be a great idea to have a series of such discussions based on their own repertoire of work as well as their observations of works by other artists. Fantastic
Yeh dil mange Moare! Give em more of these two powerhouse actors talking about life acting adn all intbetween..SO so inspiring, BTW, also ned more women in film industry talking with each other...! This is so refreshing!
What a delightful interview. Its such a pleasure to listen to two of the finest actors in the industry. Its like poetry in motion. Masha Allah amazing.
Those dislikes are from the kind of people who want the actresses to be just glam dolls. They couldn't take the fact that actresses can also be intelligent and enlightened.
I think there should be difference between Art and the Artist. Art is a part of an Artist's life, which itself is so broad while the Artist's life consists of so many other things. So us viewers should only consider the Art that the Artist creates. We can be interested in the person , but primarily what they create is what really should bother us.🙂
I personally love the aura shabana n vidya create wherever they are around. They r also a strong symbols of women empowerment and liberation. But, one thing they lied here is, every other scene they fall into the character it seems. Only intimate scenes they just act it seems.. Not getting into the character. I don't believe it.
Navya Chandrika Navya Chandrika That is how it has to be with intimate scenes I believe..if it's not technical their awkwardness will show on face because at the end of the day it's not with their husbands or lovers they are romancing. mmm...much like, how a doctor cannot be emotionally triggered if he has to successfully do an operation ( in layman's terms :P )
Shivna Tiwari tht way if you see every scene is technical. They should get into the character even if it is intimate scenes. Just technically being part of the scene won't bring the oomph factor on the face and body language that vidya and shabana can bring (lik fire).. Thts my take Shivna. Peace ✌
Agree with the fact that most of the scenes are technical but with intimate scenes it "has" to be technical. This is something stated by other brilliant actors in interviews as well. As far as adding sensuality in the scene is concerned, I remember Mr. Bachha n stating this in KBC once that sometimes no matter how dipped into a character an actor is, certain emotions can only get reflected when you shake your emotional side a bit (he was referring to the death scene of his relative in one of his films). Despite repeated trials, he was unable to bring about that expression. It was when he asked himself how he, Mr. Amitabh Bachhan would react had it happened to him, was he able to bring about that expression. So, basically, sometimes even the character can become cluless. Anyway, a better example in this context could be the scene in Dirty Picture where Silk is supposed to act sensual and is repeatedly failing to do so. It is only when she derives the sensuality formula from a life experience, she is able to essay the role perfectly. The point is, the actor can be technical and bring about the required sensuality if need be. I agree with Vidya when she says in the video life experiences play a big role. I understand your viewpoint Navya and I understand the fact that as spectators it is really hard for us to believe that they are just acting especially when there are brilliant actors as these :)
Shabana is so full of herself .she completely hizacked this could be good conversation.vidya despite not speaking much come across as far more receptive, spontaneous and wise. Again like Sabrina lal even without much words she took away all the goodwill n appreciation. Shabana was like a patronising, motor mouth megalomaniac .
deepika and priyanka would be nice pair. they can also discuss their views and experiences of working in a global cinema. and what differences they find. what they lack and what bollywood lacks. how it can be changed. etc. also they both would have interesting views on being in the industry as media portrayal of them is so trivial.
Don't get me wrong, I love Vidya's work and everything. However I've noticed she is uninformed on a lot of issues, if you watch her interview with Rajeev Massand she equates sexual harassment to girls who sleep for a film, not realising that majority of the time the women are pressured or put in a situation where their consent doesn't matter. I think Shabana ji is confused by Vidya's answers. The reason you might feel it is difficult to say things now is because for so long it was normal to disregard sections of society: women, LGBT+, people of darker skin etc.
I am here being astonished that how did they manage to snatch others' husbands into their lives!!! Here I am... I am so unworthy that my ex boyfriend ditched me and my ex husband divorced me!!! I am literally feeling sad for me. Amnot I a woman??? No offence to them. I am a great fan of their acting. But... The way they have managed others' husbands to come into their lives and years after they are living a really peaceful lives despite the fact that they have broken other women's homes. It just breaks my heart. Sorry to their fans if my comment hurts their sentiments.
Can't stop myself from saying that Vidya Balan's choice of outfit and hairdo is terrible, although I like her a lot. Shabana ji is so graceful as ever.
M Rv in that same spirit, tell why does a (well payed) cricketer need to be in advertisements? But keeping the why aside, it's obvious dude, why the hell not? A person can do a thousand different things at once if they want to. Can't you be a guitarist as well as work in IT? Examples are profuse.

That i do not understand. A character can have many motivations, fears and so on. Her real life self need not necessarily agree with her character. well about that, everybody has their own point of view, and principles they try to stick with. shabana azmi simply expressed that that is where she draws the line. and in my opinion that's for good.

Film Companion I
2 of the most beautiful actors I love
Please do another show or episode with these two. Can listen to them talking forever
Vidya balan and shabana azmi should start their own channel on critiquing movies.. It would be phenomenal.
Shabana Azmi would be a great antagonist against Vidya Balan in Kahaani 3- sly and manipulative.
YES
Yup!
I love how Shabana is talking seamlessly. Amazing ...when she answers Javed Akhtar's question.
Vidya pointed a valid point:"are we really becoming "freeier" or going the. Reverse way
They are not just great actors or celebrities. They are wonderful human beings.
Priya Narayanan comeon !! Shabana Azmi is a biggest hypocrite but I agree that she is a phenomenal actor!!
Granted they have their flaws , makes them real not perfect.
@@vloggermegha7965 Very True...... Wonderful actress worst human being

I agree so much with you
People really need to educate themselves on what feminism is rather than forming their own ideas in their head and imposing them on others
@@soumalimitra1109 Absolutely good and formal discussions on it but later or sooner, human development index will be burnished.
Absolutely. Makes so much sense.
The ending part of Vidya Balan 😍 it was really thought provoking.
Absolutely love how she beautifully she speaks.
The most exciting pair with an absolutely intriguing and eclectic conversation - thanks Madam Anupama Chopra & team!
Siddharth and Vidya are the sweetest!! :)
Loved vidya's question on Fire to Shabana!
Film Companion team , please don't stop this show. It has been a breath of fresh air. Please , would you kindly consider continuing with the show

How informative and educational. We need more of these
For actors like these I'd love them to go through all the cassettes and a longer Tapecast episode! Such an amazing conversation this was!!
What she said is so true, because everything is out there and so accessible we need to be more opinionated about every aspect of every field and once we commit to an opinion we limit ourselves from looking beyond it making us restrained rather than freeing us up. Food for thought indeed

Zaira Wasim and Alia Bhatt!! It will be fab. Or Say Zaira Wasim/Alia Bhatt and Kajol.
Alia and Zaira would be so nice! Alia started so young and I see so many similarities between them, it'd be like watching sisters speak
Saurav Naidu seriously???? the one who doesn't even know the name of the president would make a sensible conversation 😂🔫
Kajol is too domineering. She wont let them speak. Or she'll end up speaking for them.
Chari Abeysingha
Maybe not the president... but the girl sure knows to act😐. And that's enough for Tapecast.😎
