  • In this video, we cover if the Royal Enfield 650 platform is a good commuter bike, the story takes a twist from the start as the bike won't idle and continues to die throughout the ride, I managed to limp it home and still am puzzled what the issue was as it's now disappeared

I am glad Honda is beginning to play in Royal Enfield's back yard (GB350 for example) - Cool to see a New Plymouth rider, I am down in Stratford :)

@@StratfordWingRider I mean manufactures are starting to bring out similar models but now you can pick up a Enfield 650 for 6 - 7g which is pretty unbeatable at this point. And I’m you see me out say hello bike is pretty recognisable happy to get out and ride with others.

@@Remotonz Yeah man, that's awesome. I think it's positive that Manufacturers are going back to some of the basics of real motorcycling. Thats why RE is smashing it with almost every release. Yeah man, I will do! usually riding with the brightest helmet known to man. (on purpose) - any excuse for a ride I say!

@ I mean everyone is going to have their own taste on motorcycles, I mean I don’t see the point in a bike that can do over 100 in first when are roads are in such bad state, and it’s good more people are going back to their roots I mean Kawasaki z900rs is an amazing looking bike and sounds great, I’m 50 50 on hi vis, might see you out on the roads someday

Hi. I had the same issue with my GT. The engine management light came on as well.
Royal Motorcycles in Hamilton put their diagnostic scanner on it and it turned out to be the roll over sensor. Not sure why it played up but glad it was sorted. I went through all the relays and cleaned them up too, but turned out to be that sensor.

@@danielmartin4598 ah yes that’s a good option, I do think in my next order for parts for the 865 I may just buy a Scan tool so I am able to read fault codes and be able to clear them with the technology these days might aswell.

Have you removed the factory grease from the relays? They are well known to have problems. I also removed my piggy back ECU and got the factory ECU retuned with fantastic results. My bike is way more brutal than before.

ah so i have already replaced all the factory grease, and replaced relays, i simply just unplug all the connectors sprayed with contact cleaner and plugged everything back in, seems to run good, no further issues i was leaning towards the tps connection as it would run fine above 2k just would not idle thinking it maybe lost home? im thinking of just running a dyno jet commander 6, your bike is sounding really healthy now amazing the powertronic was the issue

@@Remotonz I would stay well clear of the powertronic. I can't even sell it or give it away after what the tuner said about it. oh well bikes going great now. I hope you get yours sorted, Can't be any thing to major.

@ that’s good news so maybe a stroker kit in the future now? But that is terrible about power tonics you read reviews about them and things like this are starting to come out of the woodwork
As for mine it’s should be fine haha just showing a bit of character

Ah thanks I will have to look into that, for now it’s seems to be working fine, but I’d rather not take chances.
