💙 "Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better To paint a picture, or write a letter, Bake a cake, or plant a seed; Ponder the difference between want and need? Dust if you must, but there's not much time, With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb; Music to hear, and books to read; Friends to cherish, and life to lead. Dust if you must, but the world's out there With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair; A flutter of snow, a shower of rain, This day will not come around again. Dust if you must, but bear in mind, Old age will come and it's not kind. And when you go (and go you must) You, yourself, will make more dust." - Rose Milligan
I've always liked long nights and cold weather, probably because I live in Southern Europe and we still get plenty of daylight. I embrace the cosy season, rather than prepare myself to face it, as if it was impending doom. And I don't like cleaning, but I enjoy being home, so I'd much rather be in a clean home. To me cleaning is investing some time doing something to feel cosy and comfortable afterwards.
When my boys were babies, I had a little framed picture with the legend "Quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep". Beautiful and true. Sadly, I cannot remember the author's name. Your cat is adorable! Much love from London x
Canadian here- I like to turn on a fireplace video and light my electric flicker wax candles which live in 3 groups around my main living area. Dim the other lights for a soft warm glow to welcome my guests. PS if you dim the lights you don’t notice the dust or other little lapses in perfection 😁 and it’s cozy!
That sounds so cozy! True, dimmed lights are the best way to hide those little imperfections while making everything feel even cozier 😁 That's a brilliant tip!
I'm like you I'm afraid I clean before people come over 😅 I love your videos they really inspire me in all areas of life! I love in England so November can be pretty gloomy. Thank you so much for your videos 😍
November for me is similar to yours. The days getting darker, the weather colder. Frosty mornings, rain to snow. We do a lot of hiking but also more cozy indoor activities.
Me two running around what does it achieve your sister has the right idea. My place is small and minimal it’s less to clean. But even this can seem overwhelming it’s relentless sometimes. Yes I agree I try to meet friends often the cleaning will be there tomorrow. Kuro love ❤️ him you create such a calm soothing space in your home. These videos get us through the dark winters. Small things can make us happy. What a lovely poem thank you for sharing. I must look this lady up. I am reading wintering again by Katherine may. Love the music and your cosy socks again.
I now have routines and more minimalist living space. It is never perfect but always ok to live and to have visitors. It means I have time to cook or bake before people come over. I tidy in the time I used to spend on screen time. Outside time, reading, crochet and making music is now easier as I cut screen time. More of everything. ❤ Love your video
That's such a beautiful poem. It gave me energy to go out for a walk, even though it's gloomy and rainy outside. I spend too much time inside this time of the year anyway. 🤷♀️ I'm not a fan of November. Just keep waiting for the snow to come, so the world would at least seem a bit brighter...❄️☃️ Before guests come over, I clean like crazy. Can't help it.😂 I don't particularly like cleaning, but I like living in a clean home and that motivates me to clean. Mukavaa viikonloppua ja terveisiä naapurikylältä Vantaalta! Kiitos kodikkaasta videosta, aloin heti seuraamaan kanavaasi!
Kiitos! ☕️
I’m in the southern USA. It’s just now cool enough for long sleeves. The sky is the perfect bright, fall blue and lots of fall flowers are blooming. It’s our time to rest and be grateful. Mornings are chilly, afternoons are warm. It’s beautiful.
I live in upstate New York where it gets cold and very snowy in the winter. We sometimes get snow in November, but it “usually” disappears soon after it falls. Many of us survive the darker days by preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It helps to keep our minds off of the dark and the cold. My husband and I like to get dressed in cozy PJs and spend the evenings playing board games or watching TV.
That sounds so cozy! 😊 Focusing on the holidays really does make the darker days feel brighter. Cozy PJs, board games, and time together sound like the perfect way to enjoy the season! 🕯️🎄
I'm just like you.....i have to have everything 'perfect' before guests arrive and, like you, I long to be more like your sister.....but it just doesn't happen! I live in Wales and November is often very wet. We have a lot of rain here. But at the moment, it's cold and sunny so I'm not complaining!
True, it’s hard to shake that habit of wanting everything “just right” before guests arrive! 😊 How wonderful that it’s sunny for you at the moment, that makes such a difference this time of year. Greetings from Finland!
I like that poem! I clean out of necessity and a desire to live comfortably but I hate cleaning! November is darkish, windy and rainy here in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. I would love to visit the Scandanavian countries one day. Your serenity looks so appealing,
I clean & tidy before guests co m e over. I like cleaning!!! Our November in Australia is often very hot. Today will be about 23 which is just a nice warm day. Some Christmas days are 35 or more, a bit uncomfortable.
❤ Love the coziness and perspective of this and all your videos. I love Koru’s guest cameos too! He always brightens my mood 🥰. Here in the USA it is getting colder, but we have Thanksgiving (and my birthday) to look forward to before the Christmas season. I love bringing the greens and berries and pinecones of nature inside and having lots of candlelight, books, music, tea, hearty soups and breads, and other cozy hygge moments 😊
Thank you so much! 😊It sounds like you have the perfect cozy season ahead with Thanksgiving and your birthday coming up (happy early birthday!) Wishing you a season filled with warmth and joy! ❤
what a lovely and calming video. It is getting cold and dark here in N.E. Minnesota USA too. I am 85 miles from the Canadian border. no snow yet though. have you ever tried diamond art paintings? they are fun and calming to do too. take care.
Thank you for your kind words! 😊 It sounds like we’re experiencing similar November weather, it's cold and dark here as well, but the snow hasn’t arrived just yet. I haven’t tried diamond art painting, but it sound like a calming way to spend the colder days. I’ll keep it in mind. Take care, and stay warm up there in Minnesota! Greetings from Finland!
In Australia 🇦🇺 November where I live is changeable. It is late spring and can be cold and raining or sunny and hot or even stormy and hot. I am like you. I spend way to much time making everything perfect for guests to come in and place their bags down and food they have bought to share an no one sees or cares about the perfection I have tried to create. I wish I could be more like your sister. ☺️
I completely relate! It’s funny how we spend all that time making everything perfect, only for guests to come in, drop their bags, and not even notice! 😄 Greetings from Finland!
November in New Zealand is the opposite of yours. We are building up to summer and everyone starts to get their pale legs out to the sunshine after a cold winter to colour up. We start getting more active and having BBQ's and beach days. We start coming back to life after tucking away from wind and rain.
It sounds like such a lovely shift into summer 😊 I love hearing about the seasons from the other side of the world, thank you! Enjoy the warmth and all the lively gatherings! ☀️
Adoré a tu gato 🐱 😊.
Where do you get your socks at, they look so comfy. I have tried looking online for them from the USA, I have not had any luck. Thank you for your wonderful videos, I enjoy them very much.
Gracias ❤️ I made a gluten-free bread with eggs, yogurt, flax seeds, salt, baking powder, oil, and gluten-free flour. I baked it in the oven at 200°C for about 15 minutes. 😊

True, cleaning may not be the most enjoyable part, but it makes the home feel so much more inviting and cozy. ❤️
Your videos are so calming. Because of you I even light pillar candles in my home now and love it. Love from Canada.

That's a wonderful poem! ❤️ Greetings to London, from Finland!
I did a copy paste of the snippet you provided and ran it through Google. The author is Ruth Hulbert Hamilton and the entire poem can be found online.
Thank you for your calm, soothing videos. And thank you also for reminding me of Ms Milligan’s beautiful poem, I had not thought about it in years!
Thank you! ❤
