I live in Peterhead and have done since 1985 - my family moved here as my Dad was relocated to Peterhead Prison (he worked in the Surgery Dept.). I remember the riots of 1987 as we lived very close to the prison; the flashes and bangs going on that night as the hostages were being rescued will remain with me forever. My Dad was one of the medical officers positioned just beneath the roof when Jackie Stuart was lowered down, after having been rescued by the SAS,
Many thanks for the video and I I have learned so much more about my home town in the past few minutes than I have cared to realise in the past 30+ years of residing here.

What a treat to find this on You Tube! I haven't been in Peterhead since the 1950s and 1960s when I used to go every year with my parents to visit my grandma and great-aunt. It was a lovely little holiday place back then with an active fishing industry. I remember as a child going down to the harbour in the morning with my bucket and spade and asking a fisherman if he would fill it with herring, which fishermen generously did for visitors. Not far from the 'Muckle Kirk' used to be the big Crosse & Blackwell factory, and in the morning the town used to know what they were cooking up that day from the aroma that wafted around the vicinity. Lots of memories, and so many of them brought back here!
Many thanks also to this splendid young lady for making such a fine job of this walkabout. She has a beautiful speaking voice with a lovely pure Scottish accent. I could listen to her for hours!

I know you posted this video Kin Grant several years ago but I only came upon it a few hours ago and it must be the spirit of my ancestors who guided me to watch! My beloved paternal grandmother Alice Booth was born in Peterhead alas she immigrated with my beloved grandfather (Edinburgg birn)who was posted to North America however no doubt many Booths and Stewarts are to be found in the cemeteries in Peterhead.❤ Thank you what a peaceful wonderful video. I know my grandmother Booth was very fond of one particular fish and chip place there and I hope that you are still making videos I will check it out and please accentuate the wonderful seafood that is prevalent all through Scotland. All hail Scotland the Brave forever.
I shall, I hope, follow their hardy footsteps one day!

Wow, that Peterhead Town Trail sounds EPIC! 🤩 History, ghost stories, maybe even buried pirate treasure? 🏴‍☠ Sounds so much more exciting than walking my dog around the neighborhood! 😅 I definitely learned a lot though - no idea fishermen wore blue stockings or that towns had official drummers. 🥁 Anyone else want to drop everything and head to Peterhead?

I was there for a few hours a couple of months ago and I have to say it is one of the shabbiest places I’ve ever been to in Scotland … and that’s saying something. Needs a huge amount of money spent on it.
