  • @weeral1
    @weeral1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mine looks exactly the same. same brown. Same cracks in th same places. I really hate removing the drivers side though because of extras i have installed.. I was just going to see where the best place to drill a hole was and now i see it has metal everywhere. the only reason to finish removing it now is to see if anything has died back there. 😅... Which i suppose means i should do it.. Dammit. Rat poison in the dash should come stock lol.

    Where do you get a replacement pad

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nobody makes a full replacement, just a vinyl plastic cap that glues on top of the old dashboard. Those are around $100 on ebay/amazon.

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Benjamin Miller I agree... the plastic caps are way overpriced for what they are. I do have a cracked dash that I saved to experiment with a vinyl wrap. I've never attempted anything like that before, but with the right adhesive and vinyl, I think I'd try it and make a video. The main area of concern for me is the inset area on the top of the dash. If it were flat, I wouldn't see any problem, but because of the way it's shaped, I can see the vinyl not laying down well over that area. I'd use vinyl over cloth because I don't know how cloth will hold up to UV rays and also the vinyl will be easier to clean.

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Benjamin Miller I suppose that inset area could be filled in for a smooth top panel- just wouldn't work on models with the Altimeter/clinometer.

    • @annhenry1226
      @annhenry1226 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ben Miller I have heard you can fill cracks w epoxy , sand flush and then paint with a thick vinyl paint and add texture.

    I wonder why the top one snapped, moisture compromise it?
    RIP 10mm, we knew him well......

    • @6thGearGarage
      @6thGearGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      JimsEquipmentShed my theory is mouse piss. They didn't pee on the nut itself, but nearby, creating moisture. Corrosive moisture. I've had other trucks where they peed everywhere in the dash and the screws were so rusty that a Philips screwdriver wouldn't fit in the head - had to drill them out. They seem to love these dashboards!

    • @JimsEquipmentShed
      @JimsEquipmentShed 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      6th Gear Garage Yup, that makes sense. I’ve had a few like that as well. I had to swap the dashes on my Toyota one ton dump. The dash in my parts automatic went into my five speed unit, so I ended up with an ect switch that I wired up so it would light. ;-)
      Kinda funny.
