I don’t think they were blocking off the oil injection. I think maybe the oil cap on the outside of the ski broke so they disconnected it from the hose and put tape to cover the hole. Then when they needed to fill the tank with oil, they would take the Gatorade cap off, fill it, then cap it off again.

That’s exactly what they did, I didn’t know at first and got nervous thinking the thing was going to be blown up lol
