Lol Hall and Oates is commonly played on the "Dusties". Their first big hit "Sara Smile" was a giant cross-over. But, "One on One" "Method of Modern Love" "I cant Go For That" are standards and show up as samples in a lot of rap music. And Darryl Hall has pretty much been adamant that he is a Soul musician. Philly Soul to be specific. Gen X Black folxs already LOVE H&O.

At the risk of sounding old, a grouping like that is why music from that era stood out. You had an amazing amazing amazing special talent on each and every instrument. Now a days you have one guy who barely knows how to play one instrument but knows how to fake it with a keyboard controller, a mouse and a computer. But as good as faking it can get, it can not touch a collective of the best of the best.

Jeff has been a favorite of mine for 40 years, and Toto is all but in a constant loop on my playlists. If you've never listened to Toto, you should check them out!! Tons of hits there m but the B-sides are amazing as well!! Great review!!

This tune assembles a bunch of talents: Jeff Porcaro (from Toto) on drums, Steve Lukather (from Toto as well) on guitars, Greg Phillinganes (a very good friend of Toto guys :-) ) on synclavier, Michael McDonald (who happens to be a good friend of Toto guys too!) on keys and vocals and Louis Johnson of course on bass (another good friend of the same guys)
So this is friendship at its best, and Michael McDonald returned the favor to Toto singing backing vocals on Toto's I'll Be Over You and others

I ❤❤❤❤ your reactions and your laugh. Keep it up. So Much joy in sharing music....remember the duet song with patti labelle? On my own? That's Michael McDonald singing with her.

Now I know why I've been so depressed most my life lol. My parents raised me on good music. Nothing compares to it. I'm like a broken lover!!! Lol.

This is my favorite Michael Mcdonald song of all time. It's perfection. I believe his sister, Maureen, did the background vocals.

His singing style is difficult to copy. He must have the lung capacity of an elephant.

The late, GREAT Jeff Porcaro on those drums. The man played on, literally, hundreds if not thousands of songs, and SO MANY hits you hear all the time on the radio. The man was and is a legend.

The first time I listened to Michael McDonald was back in the seventies when he was with The Doobies. What a voice I was hooked and now have loads of his albums. Thanks for playing this Jamal , I love the stuff you put up, keep grooving.😀
