Funny you say that. Given the state of current affairs in the world, I make it a point to play this song with my windows rolled down in hopes of people in the crosswalk or next to me at stoplights to hear some good music, maybe even peak their curiosity on who the artist is by Shazaming it (wishful thinking lol). Music is such an amazing gift, bringing more people together than dividing each other.

It's not just the tone of his voice; his little inflections and pauses and extensions of syllables are steeped in early soul music. Oh my gosh! My mom introduced me to this song when I was a little girl. I remember when I was about nine, she bought me a record player, and this record was one of a few she had for me to play. I remember getting the record and just playing the song over and over and over again. It means a lot to me because I just lost my mom on March 23rd of this year, so the songs she brought me up on are more profound to me now. A lot of people, when they hear this song, say, "I didn't know he was a white man?" Somehow, though, I knew. I don't know why or how, but when I found out he was a white man, I wasn't surprised. How about Strawberry Letter 23 by the Brothers Johnson???

To be quite honest, as I have said, before. Your culture inspired our culture and made it, better! We just learned to embrace it and blend it. Thank you, again for the reaction and I am glad you liked it. Bobby Caldwell just fell right in that spot.

Thanks SO much for reviewing this video....I knew you've heard this one all your life...great voice..and his first album had no picture of him on it..on purpose they say, cause the producers wanted to sell his music without bias. It was first played on jazz and soul radio stations, and it took years for the secret to get out...

Bobby was the absolute greatest. He played guitar, piano organ and other instruments. He had been a guitarist for Little Richard and toured with Natalie Cole. He wrote tons of songs for other artists as well. He never never gets old.

I swear when I was working at a grocery store I was grooving to that song and I could've sworn that guy who sang that was African American. But when I just watched that video, I was shocked! That man has got soul! Don't take this for granted. This is what real music is about a long time ago. Take the time to listen to them. You don't get great musics like this. Period.
