      I like it. We're currently using a pretty thick cable that we route through the cans and tire back to the deny lock.
      Also, we have 5 or 6 more bags that Kelsey sewed up. I'll try to add in a little update of the interior as we travel. Cheers!

      If she ever so inclined to sew up a few more bags Im sure many will buy. I will.

      @@jailbreakoverlander for sure. As soon as we are home and near a sewing machine, I think we gotta. Those bags have changed our trip.

    This rig is so dialed in to your needs. CampTEQ tops are great. Wish they made them for 100 series. May have to fab one myself.

    Excellent video Kelsey! That was a pretty thorough run down of Goose... I see Tim stepped up on his APRS game. Love the soft bulk storage in the back. Keep on keeping on....

    Very cool. Following you on APRS...and trying to figure it out from there and your journey etc. Very cool. Love heading to Baja every month and PG and PPG and ATVs etc. I'm setting up currently shoot spots for an Outside TV show on BAJA and the rugged beauty there as well as the adventure, food, wine and people !

    This video has been so helpful in aiding my decision making on our own 80 build. Tim, you mentioned running a low voltage disconnect when Goose was on a single battery. Do you recall what device you used and if you wired the entire truck (even the starter) through it? We love and look forward to all your content, keep it up. Thank you in advance.

    • @DirtSunrise
      @DirtSunrise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Trevor. The two I used we're a Battery Brain and later a Priority Start. Both saved me several times over the years. I went ahead and wired everything through it just to be safe in case there was some parasitic draw.

    Cool video guys - very interesting build up - happy travels - so jealous! Just a thought on your lpg gas bottle location - might not be legal as it would be in a bad spot if someone rear ended you. Definitely not legal here in Australia. Will be following and drooling 😁

    • @DirtSunrise
      @DirtSunrise  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! Fair point! What's odd is that in Arizona vehicles were installed with an LPG tank in the back of their cars to be more "Environmentally Friendly" so there are a lot of other... explosive vehicles out there. Does that make me feel better or worse. Not sure!
      Can you keep fuel cans on the rear bumper?

    • @4x4touring47
      @4x4touring47 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DirtSunrise diesel is ok on the rear but apparently petrol isn't because it's more flammable. There was a post yesterday put out by our cops defecting a car for having it attached to the spare - he also had a solar panel on his bonnet and had cut his number plate in half to go around his winch at the front - so I think he was asking for trouble 😁 keep up the great vids guys 👍

    The 80 looks great. Thinking about stove location with fuel can behind. Got my set of stickers, fast shipping too ;O)
    Safe travels!!

    • @DirtSunrise
      @DirtSunrise  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad they got there quickly! My mom, although terrified we'll die ASAP, is enjoying sending out stickers to be a part of it all.
      The 2 are water cans and that Scepter I've had for 12 or 14 years so I have... possibly more trust in it than I should to not vent any fumes! Still, so far so good... Look for the plume on the horizon if it doesn't go well.

    Nice rig. You mentioned possibly getting the AISIN hubs later. How do you like the KVMs now? Pros and cons? Thanks in advance.

    • @DirtSunrise

      Never had an issue and they're still on the truck. We sold it, but I would switch to Aisin if we went back to wheeling hard.

    Would you give the name and model of the tent please? I couldn’t catch the name. Thank you. My 80 is at 220k, and I’m still unsure if it’s worth putting that much effort into it but this is inspiring. Goose rocks!

    • @mozaic_channel
      @mozaic_channel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nevermind, you only had 2 videos dedicated to the pop top. ;)

    • @DirtSunrise
      @DirtSunrise  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Roland Rosso thanks Roland. It's called a Campteq. Only 7 or 8 were ever built. You can cut your roof off like we did or just put it on like a tent via the drip rails. I've heard some more may get made. Keep an eye out on IH8MUD.com for them. 👍👍👍

    • @mozaic_channel
      @mozaic_channel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup. I got in touch with the builder. Sounds like getting one is possible. I'd need to sleep 4, 2 up 2 down, so I'm going to very precisely cut Amazon boxes as templates and play a few games of Twister in the back of the 80 with the family. Really like your channel by the way. I like the details of the build and how you put it to use.

    • @DirtSunrise
      @DirtSunrise  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right on. The upper area is tight. Perfect for us, but for someone over 6' or for 2 people who weren't fairly skinny it would get annoying. Thank you! Good luck, let me know what way you end up going. Sounds cool!

  • @HammerRocks
    @HammerRocks 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you swap the wiring for your starting battery? Or are all starting batteries for LHD Land Cruisers located on the right side? Here, in Australia 80 Series Land Cruiser OEM battery (ie. starting battery) is located on the right side.

    what kind of paint job is on your rig? Looks similar to a 'Line X' type product?

    • @DirtSunrise
      @DirtSunrise  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mostly mud and dust. 😉 It's just the original Toyota Moon Glow Pearl paint.

  • @GatorBait1551
    @GatorBait1551 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not sure if I just missed it in this video but have you gone over what you’ve done with your rear awning anywhere? I’ve seen it in the other videos and thought about doing something similar for my 100

    • @DirtSunrise
      @DirtSunrise  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We haven't really done anything very in depth about the rear awning. It is homemade, just sewed a square and on one end we attached it to the truck with some sail track (usually used for boats). On the other end we put eyelets so we can attach to poles. Works great.
