    Hope you enjoyed this style of video - I will be making more like this, where I travel to different clubs to play matches or tournaments. If you have any suggestions or want to play me for a match, just get in touch!

      Nice video... The start of the video and the game play itself answered a question I left on the comments in your last video...
      Why don't you come over to Spain and we'll have a match, or enter a tournament... Murcia/Alicante region is huge for padel and the competition is good

      Awesome, making Padel videos much more relatable than some of those indoor technical drills by players who already speak Spanish 😂. Maybe also throw in some voiceover on shot-choice. Vamos!

    Completely understandable when playing against a "lesser opponent." You feel less challenged, but it's not that they can't play. As soon as you lose focus for a moment, you concede a point. And your rallies are much less intense, making it difficult to stay sharp.
    Ultimately, it's a mental aspect. Because even against such opponents, you (and I) must be determined to play well.

    is it always eliminations matches from the beginning in tournaments in the UK? In Belgium we play atleast 3 matches as a groups stage before having the elimination rounds. Makes it a bit more appealing to enter a tournament, because you are sure you can play at least 3 games

    • @EverythingPadel
      @EverythingPadel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So if we lost the 1st match, we would have got into the back draw, so you are always guaranteed at least 2 matches! But belgium sounds a lot better!

    It’s very common to do that. You actually play down to the level of your competition. That’s why I enjoy playing with better players than. They push me harder even though I lose a lot it makes me a much better player.

    maybe you should try the Australian formation sometimes when you get caught freez, changes the rhythm with a lot of chiquitas, using doble paredes with the salidas ,more slices in the middle, but always taking care of the phase of the game. When you play in the reves(left) you have to take more bandejas and viboras, sometimes 75% of the airs balls of the good lobs, play more agressive in the bajadas and changing with bombas and chiquitas with the bajadas. You have to take risks. Greetings from Paraguay, South America.

    Nice video! 5-0 , 5-7 and you lose with the smallest gap... harsh. I think you miss a little bit of intensity when you had easy balls. It looks like you are playing with your best friends an usual friendly match. ;-)

    I do sometimes play with weaker opponents and what does it for me is focusing on reading the game well and try and anticipate it, or it gives me confidence to try harder shots, because I also get easier balls, and trying to stay playful on the court!
    Don’t underestimate your opponents, just be more confident in your abilities, have fun with creative shots and don’t end up sleeping on the ball!

    Interesting insight into the psychology of sport. I've lost SO many matches of squash and badminton to taking my foot off the pedal and it's really hard to unlearn that behaviour.
    Wicked vid, though and better luck next time! Sick comeback in the first.

    Nice video, mate! I understand when people do the "fridge strategy" but for me I try to avoid it as it feels dirty and even desperate at times, but for some reason it's been normalized in padel even with people I've played against with that play better than me and still fridge me. What is your position on this?

    • @EverythingPadel
      @EverythingPadel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are right, it is so so common in padel, and I think in tournaments you just have to except it. Can't beat them join them! In matches definitley avoid it though, because its not fair on people wanting to play for fun and then getting fridged.

    Great video! It’s nice to see someone who is clearly as good as you are upload something a bit more humbling so we can all learn from it. I have definitely relaxed my intensity against players I perceive to be worse than me and paid the price…conversely I have also raised my intensity against players I know are better than me…although can’t say I’ve won a lot of those matches 😂

    The hardest thing is when you don't know how you played when either good or bad. That is the worst feeling or whatever. It's hard to bounce back and do better if you don't know.

    Super interesting video, thanks for posting it! Amazing to be able to win the first set, congrats!! And I feel what you are saying, when you believe your rivals are weaker than you are it also happens to me that unconsciously I lower my level. So I need to have my companion reminding me to keep the mind clear and focused, and think point by point.

    Really good to see ‘live play’ like this, at a level a lot of us can relate to. Your explanation and summarising of key points and passages of play is first class - I for one would certainly enjoy more content like this, and recommend it to my fellow club players. As a player in the upper half of intermediate but not as young and agile as I used to be, positioning, co-ordination with my partner and shot choice are increasingly critical. A bit like a good squash player who ‘owns’ the T, getting into the right position saves so much energy. Your partner played some superb defence while you were being kept on ice, but when it came to attack you seemed as a pair to lack offensive power - or maybe that’s just because these are only a few highlights? Whatever, I enjoyed watching this and commiserate on your narrowest of defeats! ¡La próxima vez! I play in Spain, but I'm loving seeing padel blossoming in the UK!

    Really easy to “switch off” when you think the match is won, and that’s when you lose as opposed to they win. The point about intensity is key - you’ve got to sustain it for the full duration.
