    Independent contractor here. Shout out to my “boss” who loves dictating and bitching to me about how many hours I work or not, how many days I work at the office or at home, even though I am completing the 40 hours stipulated in my contract and my work is up to date. Expect you work like a regular worker without giving you any of the benefits.

      That doesn't sound consistent with being an independent contractor. Look up your states requirements for independent contractors as they vary from state to state.

    Can you give independent contractors standards for how you want the work to be performed?

    • @workingsol
      @workingsol  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes. If Person A works for Uber but is a terrible driver then Person A's contract can be terminated. If you hire a contractor to remodel your kitchen but you can see as the job begins that the work is sub-par, then you can terminate that contract and find another contractor.

    So an ad says up to $19/hr and 15-40hrs per week Even doing 40hrs a week, how can you afford purchasing your own life insurance, 401k, medical, dental, vision etc, how does that even work? Additionally, if it’s so flexible for time off, aren’t some contracts more demanding or you just can suddenly decide to take 2 weeks off and expect to still have a contract when you get back?
    “When you receive your contract, you will be asked to agree to have no claim against Working Solutions hereunder or otherwise for vacation pay, sick leave, retirement benefits, Social Security, worker’s compensation, health or disability benefits, overtime, unemployment insurance benefits or employee benefits of any kind.”

      Thanks so much for commenting! We completely understand your concern. We love being an option for people who want to work from home and enjoy more flexibility and freedom. Some use these opportunities as supplemental income, in conjunction with full-time employment. Others work multiple freelance or contract gigs. Every situation is unique. While independent contractor work may not be the best fit for everyone, it's a great option for many. We encourage individuals to seek opportunities that best align with their lifestyle and needs.

    If I work for more than one companies (direct competitors) as an independent contractor, then am I breaking any agreements?

    • @molly2frodo222

      I will depend on the agreement you have.

    • @workingsol
      @workingsol  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you are an independent contractor, then no. Federal employment regulations allow independent contractors to work for multiple companies (even direct competitors). We are not legal experts though and each state has different rules and regulations so check with the appropriate state agency.

      It is not necessary to purchase or use a third-party antivirus program. In many cases, these are not compatible with our client’s software and can prevent access. Working Solutions recommends using Microsoft Defender which is included with all modern versions of Windows.

    Being an independent contractor is all fine and well, but if one lives, as I do, in a very high tax state, one has to be compensated at a high hourly rate to make working as an independent contractor worth it. I have worked as an IC for years and finally stopped; I was paying more taxes than made it worth it.

      Contractors are able to pick the schedule that works best for them- based on available hours. A big perk of this is being able to take trips or vacations without having to "ask for permission/time off". We hope this helps.
