    Hey patrick. Ive been enjoying your videos. Im a 2400 online blitz player. Im sure you've had plenty of advise but id like to offer my observations. You should broaden your search early for candidate moves. First checking the checks captures and threats. Your positional understanding is very solid just need get a all those short material gains . Ofcourse sacrifices exist and many counter examples but thats the beauty of chess :)

    this is brutal but it is also a valuable lesson that will make you better. The man's not dead until you checkmate him. When your opponent has nothing to lose, they will try anything to win, you must deflect his last death rolls to win

    You didn’t lose because of endgame technique you lost because of tactics, you just need to understand simple endgame ideas like using the rook to cut the king off and the fact that in the endgame the king is a fighting piece worth about the same as a minor piece etc.. KISS .. keep it simple stupid .. swap off material if you are ahead, especially knights if you are in time trouble keep your pieces defended, activate yr king, don’t rush, rooks need to be BEHIND passed pawns, push the pawn to tie your opponent down.
    Still you are a Gent you took the loss with good grace I salute you sir.

    The proverbial hardest game to win is a won game. It's tricky, but to advance players have to learn that their mindset has to change when they are up material. If you can win directly with the extra material, that's great, but most of the time you have to shift gears to concentrate on crushing the opponent's counterplay. After Nxf7 there was an opportunity to trade rooks and it's basically game over (or at the very least Black is not getting mated). On the other hand, it's hard to think when your clock is low.

    @RTAC_1234 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    24:55 there is absolutely no reason to go for this dangerous position where the king is protecting the rook. Aside from comments made by others, when you're in an endgame and loads of material up, you have time to secure your pieces. You don't need to rush.
    You could, for example, play Rf6 instead of Kf5, then Bd2, a5, even Bb4. This isn't even optimal play, but you have then secured all of your pieces (an illustrative game that demonstrates this principle is Byrne-Fischer from 1956). White can do literally nothing other than pointlessly move the rook around. There aren't even any spite checks. Once you've done this, you can start pushing the g-pawn. If white moves the rook to defend against this, you can then advance the a-pawn, playing on both sides of the board.
    If you want to get to 2000, you need to work on your endgames, you must understand endgame principles. Because you need to be able to convert this position 100 times out of 100 against 1800+ players. I could convert this every time against Stockfish. You have to be very confident in your ability to do this, as otherwise any good middlegame play is pointless.

    Brutal brutal brutal. Great opening and great middle game tactics. Time as per usual was not on your side but that’s why you were up in the first place. The big takeaway you should takeaway from this endgame is to keep your rook far away from your king. The rook can move fast and covers large distances and your opponent did well to take advantage of that. Keeping your rook so close to your king was your downfall

    Patrick I'd suggest working on your time management. Many games are won or lost in the endgame. Try and spend much less time in the opening and mid-game and save it for the end game where it really counts! You had a good advantage going!

    Instead of Rh6 Be3. You are seeing individual good moves Qd3, but still missing combinations.
    If the rook in on the 7th rank just keep it there Bishop to f3 saves the knight, protect your pieces, and then remove the Knight with the Bbishop and you still win.
    What is the deal with your rooks fear of open files. R on the C file is like Chess 101.
    Yes, Qc7 with Biship on b8 the battery threatening mate. Might be a good idea.
    Overall. a good game just poor time management which leads to errors. You never found the mate in 3 even with analysis is it Rh1+?

    How you can actually lose the game with rook, bishop and two pawns against rook is incredible.Here, 25:19, don't leave your rook where it can be captured by their king. Instead there is such an obvious move. You know how in openings there are moves which are obvious - such as developing knights before bishops and developing knights towards the centre of the pawn and pushing your central pawns forward. These obvious moves barely require any thought.
    It's the same in endings. Here you have Ra6. It's such a no-brainer. Get your rook BEHIND your pawn and push it. For goodness sake, your bishop even covers the queening square.
    How many points do you lose because of the endings.

    • @tomwaters8409
      @tomwaters8409 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What he says: rook behind the passed pawn, in this game you also had the bishop targeting the queening square. Easy win.

      @@tomwaters8409 Agree. Also just keep the bishop and the pawn mutually defending each other on g7 and f6. Not playing Ra6 here is like playing a4 in the opening rather than e4. :)
