Constantine: The First Christian Emperor

For some 200 years, Christians experienced official and unofficial persecution. It was not until the conversion of Emperor Constantine that Christianity gained official acceptance and support. Constantine had dropped the sword of persecution in order to take up the cross. With Constantine, Christianity shifted from being an illicit, persecuted sect to being a welcome - and soon dominant - religion of the Roman Empire.
