The angry Mr.X said there were no women in Chiang Mai. There are actually 864,000 women in Chiang Mai Province. When some people look at women through the lens of how they can serve their lusts, what they are really experiencing is their boring purpose in life. Been to Chiang Mai 30 times since 2005. I enjoy the city and always venture out to the mountains during my trips. Every where I go there are people and each person has their own unique story. Nothing boring about that.
Well said mate 👍
After 3 trips to Thailand we ventured north on our fourth trip to Chiang Mai and Pai instead of BK and honestly won’t look back. Chiang Mai is a brilliant place with a very Chinese feel to it. So laid back and surrounded by breathtaking scenery and some amazing traditional architecture. The people seem so much more friendly ( if that’s even possible) too. Also it’s not so built up with high rise which is so much better. Will be back in a few weeks to explore more of the north , and stay at the beautiful pastoral orchard retreat Ing Doi guest house in the yawning fields at Pai.
That's great! I'm glad you liked the North. Yes, is just so much more laid back up here and like yo mentioned, Not so many high-rise buildings and amazing scenery. Thanks.
Thanks for one more great video Mr W, you're by far the best TH-camr i follow in Thailand, hats off!
And these kind of walks you do are amazing especially on the back streets as I believe I said before!
I'm so happy I will touch the ground on Suvarnabhumi in less than 3 weeks!
So stay safe and keep up the good work!
Hey buddy, thank you so much. I hope you have a great time in Thailand. You’ll soon be touching down and living the good life. Thanks
Best channel on TH-cam straight talking no bullshit just telling it as it is love ya Wayne keep it up my mate can't wait for the next one 👍love from the UK 😊
Thank you mate! Much appreciated dude!!
Nice wander mate - life’s good - Thanks WW
Cheers mate 👍
Thank you mate for the walkabout and the inspiration to get out of here and back to were my heart is.
Thanks for watching Jack 🙏
Great vlog Wayne. CM gate and the old city looking very nice indeed 👍🏼
Cheers mate! Yes, the old girl is looking good.
I've found Bangkok has heaps of Chinese tourists and Koh Samui is full of German tourists. Love your vlogs, keep up the good work and stay well my friend!
Thank you buddy 👍
Great vlog Wayne, Chiang Mai is pretty good if you ask me mate, a lot better than the UK is at the moment where I am for 6 months, keep up the good work BOBBY DAZZLER!!!!
Cheers mate! Chiang Mai is a great place to be, I'm lucky everyday. Nice one Bobby Dazzler!
I found Chang Mai ok but for me I have to be next to the sea it’s not about boring or not because some people would find walking on the beach each morning boring. It’s finding a place that suits your daily routine if you are a long termer
Yes, nothing wrong with liking something different, like you mentioned, sone people have to have a beach. Thailand has something for everyone. Thanks
Great to take a look around again.
A 'Pattaya farang' one said to me Chiang Mai is where you go to retire.
You were spot on when you said Chiang Mai is more 'normal' relationship wise.
Was that phone repair shop opposite the park?
I used to go to the Phone Doctor when I was in Chiang Rai but not sure if he's even there now.
Cheers mate. The phone shop is across from Siam Tv. Back towards Chiang Mai gate when walking from the park.
@@WalkAboutWayne Got it, thanks 👍
Totally enjoy your vlogs Wayne. Always seems like I m catching up with a mate. Hoping to catch up with you in about four weeks in BORING Chiang Mai 😆
Thank you ! Hope to see you in Chiang Mai in 4 weeks 👍
Nice to see you doing OK mate.!
Cheers Phil, mate. Hope you’re well 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne Yes mate, all good, retiring in 5 weeks.
I suppose it depends on the person, but 8 years retired here and I have NOT been bored for single day in 8 years. And my lady friend from CM of 8 years gets more beautiful with each passing year!! (Honest!!)
Yes, different strokes for different folks.
Greetings from Wat Ket. Nice video. Again!
Nice one! Wat Ket nice area 👍
Good walkabout and food lessons thanks mate. Lots of Russian and middle eastern tourists in Phuket
Cheers mate! I’ve never been to Phuket, but I’ve heard it’s like that.
Thats the market and place I always stay when there. Saturday evening, the longest night market/
Saturday market is over the road, yes 👍
You have inspired me flight booked happy days
Hey Rocket, Happy Days mate. Welcome to Chiang Mai next week.
Monday morning is Monday morning everywhere in the world.
Chiang Mai offers many options for excursions and tripls out of the city and surrounding mountains. By the time you think you have seen it all the city will have changed and new attractions opened up.
Very true , mate
Always good going for a walk and chat around the known tourist parts of the city. Have you ever gone for a daytime walk (well before the girls turn up there in respect of them and the punters) around the bar area and shown it to us subbies like you did in Hua Hin on that last trip down there? I'd be interested to see that set up in CM and how expansive it is. If you'd prefer not to then all good buddy :)
That’s a good idea mate, I could do an early morning walk sometime, I’ve never really done a real early walk down Loi Kroh. I’ll have to do that one sone time. I remember that walk in Hua Hin 👍
If Chiang Mai is boring then I'm living in a Tomb and I'm happy as Larry
🤣 Well said mate.
What's happening in the UK rn w folks getting arrested for Facebook posts is insane!
?? Not heard about that .
Also on t(e thapee side you missed the 20 baht store and a nice little market on ., I think, soi 6
20 Baht stores and restaurants everywhere buddy 👍
Lovin the positive vib of your'e vid's. I guess it's not all about where you live, it's more about what our attitude towards life itself is.
Thanks Sean, and that's very true mate.
The city roads really are very dangerous for motorbike riders right now. A few weeks ago I hit a HOLE... a metal plate had been pushed forward by the traffic.. Boom! I was very very lucky not to have come off the bike. Impossible to see since lots of cars are hiding what's really ahead!
Hope it's all done... "soon" 555
Yes, it’s very dangerous . I’ve nearly fallen off also. Like you mentioned, we can’t see the metal plates or repairs when riding. They need to get it sorted soon.
Love the life ,,,
Happy Days 👍
Even if Chiang Mai is 'boring', to my way of thinking that's a feature not a bug. As Wayne says, it's all about what we want. I want a quieter, less expensive life and to be closer to nature, so Chiang Mai seems pretty good option 😀
I got really grippy tyres for my bike in the UK ... they make such a difference! Well worth the additional cost. Keep 'er between the hedges and all that 🤣
Very true mate. Yes, new tires will be fitted soon mate.
Another Bobby Dazzler! Still looking for that Bobby Dazzler T-shirt merch :) Be honest, knowing what you know now...what city would you fly to first if it was your first time flying to Thailand.
🤣🤣 Cheers mate ! Not sure on the Bobby D shirts 🤣. That’s an easy answer mate, I would fly to Chiang Mai.
We are in CM in November/ December, where do you recommend for my wife and I to go for a massage every couple of days mate?
Happy days Alan! I’m sure you’ll have a great time. That’s an easy answer mate. Anywhere!!! There will be hundreds of great massage shops, it all depends which area and what type of massage you want.
Thanks for the walk around. We’re heading to Thailand in December and will have NYE in Chiang Mai…can you tell me do they release Lanterns at all on NYE. I know they usually do in November but wanting something different for our kids on NYE. Can I ask how long you’ve lived there?
Hi, thanks for watching. I'm sure you'll have a great time here over the New Year. It will mainly be fireworks on New Year. Yes, Loy Krathong is mainly the lanterns. I've been here for a while now. 👍
You're probably too young to have ever seen Ralph Malph, Potsie and the Fonz, but I grew up with that show. "Jumping the shark" became a metaphor for a TV show past its prime from an episode of Happy Days late in its life. I love Pirelli, but I'm partial to Continental, have them on my VW as well as my road bikes (bicycles) you can't be too safe out there, it's always worth it.
Of course not mate, Happy Days was shown all through my childhood. I do believe it’s still getting re runs now in the UK. I was watching an interview with Don Most who plays Ralph Malph, just the other day. 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne Heyyyyyy........👍👍
I’ve been following for awhile. Im interested in your back story what were you doing before you moved to Thailand ? what were you thinking about to make the decision to move? How were you able to afford it. Do you relay on YT for your financial situation. Of course you make something from this but I would think it’s more of an added benefit than something you would have to rely on. For people older than 45 picking up and moving around the world is a big jump typically. When people watch your show they start to believe they might be able to do it.
Thanks! I have videos on my channel all about my story . I talk about everything. I would never stay here relying on TH-cam. This is just one part of the jigsaw.
Sounds like Mr. X is a teenager. "Everything's boring, it just sucks"
Well, young man, if you don't like it here, find your own happy place. Be happy wherever that is, and stop your belly-aching!
It’s kind of nice when people say they don’t like CM. Let’s keep it exactly how it is . Mr X wasn’t a happy crappy 🤣🤣.
@@WalkAboutWayne This comes from a Mom (and former teacher!) and years dealing with whining teenagers! hahaha
As my mother used to tell me "you got the same shorts to get glad in"
iPhone 15 has a camera that is wonderful . You just walked by a restaurant that is well known and worth a look , at night, named FACES, it looks like a Cambodian temple inside .
Faces is ok, nothing special but popular 👍
Thanks for the update on the city mate,12 weeks before i touch down in cnx for 2 months holiday, happy times
Happy days mate! You'll be touching down in no time.
Well Wayne, I've hung my hat in cha-am and I love it. 😅
Nice one Geoff, I really liked the vibe in Cha-Am . I wish I spent more time there. Hope to return again soon.
On the types of tourists; i think that will evolve as the Asian countries grow their economies and their people have a growing middle class and start to travel. Compared to the west where cost of living and cost of travel is preventing many from travelling as they did before.
I think too that in the next decade we’ll see retirees demographic change too, like possibly less from the UK as the last of the generation with good private pensions who made loads on house prices before they sky rocketed retire and the next (generation) working many years longer and still paying a mortgage in their 60s. 😢
Some wise words mate. I can see some of that that happening for sure.
Thank you for showing a vegan option. Always encouraging to see! 🍧 What kind of scooter are you riding and how long have you had it? What are your feelings on it with more longer trips? Decently powered? Happy Monday! ❤🔥🕉🕊
No problem. I eat mainly at Vegan places. I’ve had my bike a few years now. Honda Click 125cc. Scooters will get you anywhere but I wish I got something a little bigger. Thanks
@@WalkAboutWayne Good evening, hello, and thanks so much for your reply. Follow up question: that’s really exciting that you say you mostly eat at vegan places! Would it be possible to do a video spotlight on the different vegan/veg places you eat at and the types of food there are, what they’re called, etc? Most youtubers post meat based dishes and I’m trying to make them after converting to veg substitution, so starting with something veg is exciting! RE: Scooter: Thank you for sharing. I’ve never had a scooter before so I’m researching atm. I feel like something lighter like a 125 or 150cc is more than enough for the city A to B driving, but for longer distances, something in the range of 300cc might be better suited. Having done some longer treks, does that sound about right? The Click has a pretty white with striping that’s quite nice to look at. I was thinking Primavera S 150 Touring II but this has me thinking about GTS 300.
@@skmagson I have featured many of my Vegan restaurants on previous videos but maybe I'll do an update at some point. So many great Vegan places in Chiang Mai. Regarding the scooter, a 125cc is perfect for the city. Yes, a bigger bike would be better for longer distance but you have to weigh up the pros and cons. How often will you be on road trips etc etc. You can go anywhere on a 125 ( I do ) but looking back, I wish I didn't buy the click. It's the best bike for the city but something like a PCX or ADV would be the sweet spot. At the end of the day, it's whatever your comfortable with. Thanks.
@@WalkAboutWayne I really appreciate your advice! Thank you so much. I'll be sure to peruse your back catalogue of videos for the vegan spots! Enjoy your weekend!
Nice one Wayne,...
Can you do a night time vid please including where you go for a decent keeebbbaaabb 🙂
I'm overdue a night time vlog, so I'll see what I can do mate. I know the best kebab place in town also.
Wow,... Coolio 😎
That would be amazing skipper,..
Chiangmai is one the good way boring not crazy Pattaya ore Bangkok Chiangmai is easy living the people are real friendly.
Yes, I think Chiang Mai is a nice normal city but you can still find anything you want.
Depends if you want to go out and party every day/night. Not everyone comes here to party... Pataya can get boring real quick also.
Yes, agreed.
Lived there for 5 years. Plenty of beautiful women. But some persons are looking for quantity and not quality. I guess the "Honeymoon Stage" is over so your bored. As for me I was a "Homesteader" so the adventure is exploring the shops, learning the customs and of course trying real hard to learn the language. Took me awhile but I found everything I needed to live comfortably. Had some great times with my Thai friends. I miss it but will return next year for a vacation.
Nice! Everyone's different I guess. Aslong as your happy, that's the main thing. Happy Days.
Thanks wayne, enjoyed this video. Walking talking laughing seeing new or different things. Not to offend but to be honest I was tired of the "Can I live here?" condo realtor tours.
This vid was fun! Thanks again.
Cheers Robert. Probably more could I live here style videos coming mate, so just turn off them ones if you don’t like them. They do really well for me and people like them. Good to know that someone prefers just a basic city walk though, that I’ve done a million times🤣. People like different things I guess. Cheers mate .
Great vid mate .life is what you make it but I am not interested in the tourist stuff I stay well away am happy that way
That’s the way mate. Happy Days
I had a good laugh 😂 at the no women in Chiang Mai and that Chiang Mai is boring comment by Mr X that you brought up in this vlog. It's funny how some people can only see things from their own perspective and to them there is no other perspective. If I were in my 20's to 40's (I'm nearing 57) again I may want that noise and lifestyle, but even then only here and there sometimes maybe. Nowadays, a slower pace is perfect and not boring at all. Chiang Mai to me seems like a perfect place/city that has it all without that Bangkok (yup I've been there and it's fun to visit and experience once in a while) size, hustle, bustle and over activity. As you know, it's all a matter of personal wants, needs and perspective. I live in Vancouver Canada (born and raised and want a change from Western life and love Thailand, the smaller cities and rural areas particularity) and am planning to retire and move to Thailand by the age of 60 at the latest. I do like Kanchanaburi city and province a lot and was leaning towards moving there. I have been to and driven in and visited quite a few provinces in Thailand but have never been to Chiang Mai. Through your fun and great vlogs, Chiang Mai is definitely on my list as a potential city of residence. Keep up the great work through your vlogs, I find them fun, entertaining and informative. Cheers Wayne, from a Canadian colonial commonwealth farung.
Thank you for the great message. Yes, I suppose if I was younger I would like the bright lights more. Chiang Mai is a great city though and offers that medium of most things. I'm a big fan of Kanchanaburi also, i have some videos on Kanchanaburi on the channel and hope to go back soon.
Thanks again and sending appreciation to you in Canada.
Hi Wayne, where’s the best place to exchange foreign currency in Chiang Mai?
SK Money exchange at the bottom of Loi Kroh, next to iron bridge.
@@WalkAboutWayneon the other hand TT exchange are the best in Pattaya. 🤔
Thanks mate
You take all the beautiful women outta CM & kiss the tourists goodbye. Mountains & scenery are just a bonus. Get real😎
100% mate, not just a Chiang Mai thing either, a whole of Thailand thing 👍
🙏🙏🙏
🙏🙏
1 day in Pattaya is too much for me, Bangkok 1 day is enough, Phuket a week every 5 yrs is enough, Kho Chang a few days is enough. It’s all between the ears:-)
Nice! I can’t stay in big cities for too long
❤️CHIANG MAI❤️
♥️
For the love of god, let's hope the roads are resurfaced real soon. I mean, the city sat on their hands doing nothing for almost 3 years during covid. But let's not get into that!...There will always be another Mr. X. Boring aren't they. Almost as boring as the girlie bars down south. Excellent choice of tyres Wayne. Michelin City Grip 2 , had them on my second bike a few years now.
I hope they do the roads soon mate . Me.X was abit of a grump🤣. City Grip 2s are what I’m after mate .
@@WalkAboutWayne 69 Tires Chiangmai shop. Worth every Baht
@@ChilloutLars I'm thinking of 69 tires or Piston Shop. Piston only deal with Pirellis but I think 69 do Michelins, right?.
Boring is a personal choice
Very true 👍
I miss it (LOS) so so much, but
money is non-existant !.
Hope you can get back soon John 👍
Purely seen from a visual standpoint, Bangkok truly is far from boring. It's New York x 2! OTOH, Pattaya looks too much like Benidorm and therefore it's not very appealing to me. Of course, those sitting in the bars amidst the bar girls wlll strongly disagree! 😉
Yes, it would be hard to be bored in Bangkok. All depends what activities you like I guess. Sone people like bars and women. I like chilled (and women sometimes ) 🤣
Angry Mr X sounds like a young guy who is a two week millionaire, he will learn in the long run. Its not all about beer , bars and girls in Thailand.
Yes mate, he sounded like someone who’s been here for a week before 🤣. He sure will learn. It’s totally different when he’s here for longer term.
Hi Wayne would you like to be a guest vlogger on my channel. I’d like to chat with you about all things Chiang Mai.
@michaelbassolino
Hi Michael, thank you for the offer buddy, I'll have to decline, but maybe sometime in the future, if that's something I want to do. Hope the vlogging is going well.
@@WalkAboutWayne Thanks, Wayne. Maybe I'll see you around town sometime good sir. 🌞 Thanks for your content.
