Let's leaves Tokyo for the Japanese countryside.
Mt. Fuji's Kawaguchiko (lake) and Yoshinoyama (mountain) in Nara Prefecture. Yoshinoyama is the no.1 spot for viewing the cherry blossoms in all of Japan.
We also look at some of the unique foods made from cherry blossoms at Yoshinoyama: ice cream, yokan, sushi and sakura liquor.
Knowing the cherry blossoms (sakura) is to know Japan itself. Their beauty comes quickly and is short lived -- falling from the tree after only 10 days. The samurai lived knowing their life would be short, and that spirit is in each cherry blossom.
Called "mono no aware" which is deeply rooted in Buddhism, Japanese have a strong connection to all things. The beauty felt for the sakura is deep. Mono no aware is also an important factor in how Japanese connect to manga, anime and things important to them.

We have cherry blossoms in Washington D.C. They were a gift from Japan. Though they're not displayed so fantastically like the ones in Japan. Japanese know how to truly showcase and compliment the beauty of the Sakura. Your narration, camera angles, and resolution quality makes watching these videos a therapeutic experience. Subscribed!

This is one of my favorite episode. The Cherry Blossoms are amazing! I've always wanted to plan a mountain full of the blossoms in Sikkim where I have land to do so. Perhaps I'll make it there someday and bring home with me the Japanese varieties. Thank you so much for this amazing video of Yoshinoyama, it's so beautiful.

You're lucky being there. The best timing of cherry blossoms! Since cherry blossoms in Kanto area ends in a week or 10 days, it's hard to be in the spot at the peak time.

Hello AZ-Zakwanul Faiz bin Zakaria! Well, there are so many! It's best to make a reservation online before going during peak times like this.
I did day trips (a shame because I didn't want to leave!)
jalan.net is the no.1 hotel reservation site in Japan. Google Translate can help and there are photos and a phone number to call. Many hotel clerks a bigger hotels can speak a little English.

Hey John! Thanks for making all these videos, I love them and they inspired me to visit japan and rediscover all the place you covered. I was wondering what train/train station did you take to get to Kawaguchiko Lake? There seems to be many ways but I'm not sure which one I should travel by. Also what's the must thing to do while in Fukuoka to go to (if you know any spots) I'll be staying there for semester for college so I want experience as much as I can. Thanks!!! Huge fan Keep up the videos!

Hey John! You mentioned that its good to go in early spring because the air is cool enough to keep the air clear, but when exactly did you go on this trip to Kawaguchiko and Yoshinoyama? Were Kawaguchiko and Yoshinoyama back to back trips? I'd like to go visit Japan within a year, and I'd like to time everything perfectly if possible for a 2 week trip!
10 days seems like a very short window of opportunity haha.
    Thanks :)

John you really need to put in how to get to Yoshinoyama. Hyperdia had no directions from Kyoto. From Osaka, you really can only use Kintetsu Rail, which can be booked up in advance. We had JR West passes and could only get to Nara. We enjoyed Nara, but our trip emphasis was cherry blossoms.

Japanese native cherry blossom trees do not have any edible fruits, their ones are usually very tiny and just seeds, since they are similar, but different species/varieties from cherry trees who got edible ones. So they are simply for viewing pleasure only.

I'm really interested visiting Japan. But, I'm a little worried, since I'm a vegetarian. And sadly, I don't see many vegetarian food options in the Japanese restaurants in the country where I live. :(
May be a Japanese can clarify in this regard?
