I would like to add an 11th tool that is often forgotten by educators and catches you off guard when you don't have it. It is also a more expensive option. A computer for editing (Laptop or desktop). Too many educators assume that you already have one.
But many people starting especially these days may simply have only a smartphone or tablet. Perhaps a Chromebook, or an older budget laptop (That may not efficient for editing Videos (4K or HD). Unless you want to edit on your smartphone, a computer capable for video editing is absolutely essential. It also may cost a decent amount of money depending on what your looking to get out of it. Otherwise it's not something you will be satisfied with for $100 or $200.
This should definitely be included and I always recommend new filmmakers to implement into their budget for gear.
Agree. I'm just starting out and my videos are terrible, loll. I looked at all editing software available, free and paid, and without a fast computer with a graphics card, editing will take a long time even for one video! Good observation!

Hi, I just found video and really love it. If it’s possible I would love a video on best gear for festival and similar events. Using a phone. Because thats whole other setting which is harder to control and would love to see your tips and tricks on that. :)

Future video how to add audio after recording the video... i find i dont talk much while filming outside plus the wind noise on the smart phone mic.. as well it seems i always forget a key teaching point while filming cars driving around the track-street

I'd add a grip or cage... something to give you a solid hold on the camera and allow connection of a mic and light when doing hand-held.

Two things. I found a lot of value in this video, very thankful for the info and the links. So much so, that I was seriously thinking of purchasing your online course. That being said, although the information is very good, I don't find the quality of this video to be very good. The lighting seems off, and even though I started watching it in 720p, the quality didn't seem much different after changing it to 1440p (which I found odd, because this isn't the case for most youtube video I watch). That makes me think y'all have filmmaking knowledge, but aren't actually good at excecuting it, ya feel me? So idk, I'll take a look at the rest of your channel to make my final decision. Update: It's evident y'all are professionals, but I just don't personally like the aesthetics of your videos, and that's okay, we all prefer different looks. Regardless, the information you share is very good, so I will subscribe and I will purchase the course. Thanks again.

hi! The 14-day kinda course for smartphones: how would I know if my smartphone is good enough to be able to do the things you mention there? Is there like a minimal requirement of phone type?
If your phone can shoot in 4K it's a start. Slow motion is a plus!

For the lav mic, where did you buy the adapter to plug into your iPhone 13 Pro?
I have a regular lightning to 3.5 adapter and I just tested it with with my Synco S6E mike, and to my surprise it worked fine. It doesn't look like one needs any special kind of adapter.

Hi! Good video! Silly question here: if you’re going to film yourself with your iphone but don’t want to use your front camera, because you want the best quality out of it, how do you frame it? Or even focus it? Because with that arrangement you can’t technically see the screen… do you use some sort of mirror? Hahaha thank you very much, I’d appreciate an answer
If I'm filming handheld and walking around I usually switch to the wide lens and then do a little cropping in post to frame myself how I like. If it's setup on a tripod I will usually record a few test clips where I sit/stand in different positions before settling on exactly where I want to be when I record.

Bro, I'm about to pull the trigger on the Pro Max but, could you tell me if 256gb will be enough or I should take the Pro with 512gb? I shoot TH-cam videos primarily on Iphones with the Filmic Pro LogV2 in 4k, and will be willing to make use of the Pro res thing as well. Do you think 256gb will be enough for that kind of application? I found both around the same price here in a local shop.
Also, for everyday use and convenience pro or pro max?
