The most LOADED offseason free agency class and my A's did NOTHING!! Only traded our most loyal and beloved. John Fisher would do a better job. #FireBailey
Two things: 1. To get credit for Cy Young players, they need to be on your team at the end of the season, but you can add them anytime before then. 2. With a turn and burn team like the A's, you might want to give yourself even more trades in the off-season. Maybe 1-2 freebie "offload mid-level arb player" deals that don't get counted against you. Feels more realistic.
i point and laugh at this as if i wouldnt pull some similar chicanery for him in the same position in my saves because he’s my favorite player (the prospect of him being on the dodgers makes me want to vomit though. rafaela on the as is already on thin ice)
Worth noting with the player dev lab if the player doesn’t have anymore potential in a certain stat area it’s very rare they’ll see an increase. So if a guy has like 50/50 contact trying to get more contact very rarely will work out
i don't know if anyone's ever mentioned this but you can close a player profile screen in OOTP by right-clicking, you don't have to click the back button every time.
If worst comes to worst, deGrom has Wrecked injury proneness, so just throw him on the 60-day IL when he gets hurt regardless of how serious it is so that you can still get credit for the owner goal
I would argue you should bump up the amount of players you can have in the development lab, instead of the base 6 maybe something like 8? nothing crazy tho
I like to extend players after their sophomore season for all of their arb and 2+ years a free agency because their sophomore season tends to be the worst allowing for cheap contracts.
@@toms7114 Does that actually work though ... (save money) because if you offer a sophomore a contract usually I'll have to be for well over the league minimum ... at least for players that are worth extending anyway .. So would that really mean you save money? Let's say after 2nd year someone's arb estimates are for 3, 6, and 10 million. That's a marginal player at best if that's all they're going to be asking for arb ... nonetheless, if you were to pay them that, then it's likely they're going to get (rather, WANT) in the ballpark of $15 million for free agency. That means buying out their arb and 2 years of free agency is going to cost you approx $50 million. I don't know where I'm going with this and it's pretty silly for me to go on ... especially considering you can't run two completely identical sims side-by-side extending after year 2 on one and on the other just extending each year at arb time ... Just as a side note, my experience is only in the OOTP mobile app, not the PC and although they say they run on the same engine, there are certainly things that appear to work very differently between the two: contact negotiations being one of them.
Yeah I think it was rather foolish (get it?) to not keep either mason Miller or Kopp back to back and use them as starters, I don't really think this team got any better this off-season, probably looking at another 70-75 win team
@@rogueelitecs1229 I really like this series and like Foolish but he keeps making the same mistakes. Kopp and Mason were obvious starters, he gets too caught up in sabermetrics, doesn't optimize his trades (you can get really good throw in trades for free if you look down the roster after you choose your main target), and he gets a lot of fringe guys. His trades this season were much much better, but hes gotta trade better. Stat chasing in OOTB gets you in trouble.
@@ooo_Kim_Chi_ooo yeah, to put it in simple terms he's trying to play "too" smart if that makes any sense. Sometimes you just have to take a little risk, he plays very safe with his moves
I am new to OOTPB 25, what would anyone on here prefer the trade settings be on. I my early attempts to make deals the AI seems to want a huge amount in return for what I try to get. In some cases the AI won’t even accept my best player for a minor leaguer or two when I test it.
When I look at my player’s traits in my game it just gives me a small definition like “likes to play golf” or something. How do I make it show high adaptability/intelligence?

Just fell to my knees in Walmart after hearing the Vinnie Pasquantino news
God I love the inevitable “Joshua Mears: Improve Two-Strike Approach” in the Joshua Mears Memorial Athletics Player Development Lab
"I don't want any torn ACLs ruining our season"... spoken like a true Braves fan. Love you Foolish

To get credit for DeGrom, I believe you have to wait until the end of the season.
Yeah it's unfortunate but you only fully get credit at the end of the year
Shoutout Triston Casas winning the silver slugger at DH with a 107 wRC+
As a Dodger
Because of course
I got a first base that ended up winning a gold glove at CF with a negative 16.2 ZR
Ugh, the voters. Probably won it with his glove.

I didn’t know that the game is so nuanced I’m always learning more little details and almost always find them fair and well thought out

This is revolutionary for me

that luis castellanos call up is gonna hit like crack
Keep up this series! It’s fantastic!
All 13 of us are loving it keep it rolling Oakland fans keeping up the ❤
NL Silver Slugger at DH was Triston Casas... for the Dodgers. With 1 WAR.
Is Shohei dead in this save
Never heard of him
Manifesting Foolish Bailey’s OOTP save James Wood into real life.
happy father’s day foolish dad
Bailey trying to go one episode without acquiring a current Orioles prospect
you had the pronunciation of petry right the first time. at least that’s how they said it on college baseball broadcasts
6’7 catcher is nuts
i know ethan petry personally and he went to my high school and everybody says it how you were originally saying it, not pee-try
Reese McGuire still tossed off in 2029. Some things never change

“41 and wrecked” 😂
Here comes the JdG Cy Young season
Who up Kopping their Ronan right now?
Hey I went to high school with Ethan Petry. Crazy seeing him in a baseball video game 🤯
hahaha so did i, creek runs deep
Usually when I watch these i put on my own sims, but this one was very interesting
If you avoid arb you can almost 100% of the time sign them for less than the arb estimate.

Even though Kopps Stamina and Control is low he'd still make a great 6 inning starter.

My favorite niche game
Drew Burress, nice!!
Ethan Perry hit 51 home runs his last minor league season in double-a wow!!!
6 months for that injury is so unlucky, he mustve gotten absolutely beaned.

Something of the “show personality traits” variety. It’s in settings somewhere.
can u sign a knuckleballer?
You neex to think he gets on base lol all hr no babip
so you had the best defense in the league but 0 gold glovers?
Good above average players at every position but no stars. Happens in real life all the time. Tampa does it all the time.
@kimchi2780 exactly what I was gonna say, that's literally Tampa
Why only 4 trades?
