    Imagine robots that could track your health’ like your sugar levels. It would be pretty easy because you would wear a sensor and this information is transmitted, to your phone. It could just as easily be transmitted to a robot that could track your sugar levels and your heart rate and remind you or even bring your medication to you once it senses a change.

    I watched the entire video, but I'll chime in here too ... 'cause I love the sound of my own voice ...
    As you say, the major advancement is the potential of AI and neural nets to improve robotics, rather than the mechanical performance of the robots, but despite a lot of hype online, I haven't seen revolutionary AI integrated with robotics yet. I've seen a teleoperator fold a shirt with remotely controlled arms, and I've seen a bot already standing in front of a coffee maker put a pod in it after ten hours of training. Some guy puts the coffee cup in. I'm led to believe that the coffee maker is positioned randomly relative to the bot, but the video doesn't actually say it. The Figure demo is a lot more impressive than a teleoperator, but it doesn't look revolutionary to me especially after ten hours of training.
    If I placed the coffee maker anywhere on the table and if Figure walked to a cabinet, took out a cup and pod I placed there, walked to the coffee maker and inserted both the cup and the pod in the coffee maker, pressed the button, took out the cup of coffee when it was full, walked with it to my office and handed it to me, I'd be more impressed. If it did all of that after only watching a human do the same things, in ten minutes rather than ten hours, I'd be a lot more impressed. Maybe that's a lot to ask from the existing tech, and that's my point. I'm not dismissing the progress, only describing it. This problem is a lot more difficult than we're led to believe on TH-cam.
    I've seen no evidence that Mr. Data is just around the corner. I want to see it as much as the next guy, but I haven't seen it.

      The Japanese word Ao means blue and green at the same time. They do have the word Midori which means green but Japanese people call everything blue or green Ao. Ao is sort of a general word for both blue and green colors and Midori is the specific word for green.

    Great stuff as always John although as an AI developer I think the embodied thing is oversold re ‘agency’.
    Of course embodied means you become more familiar with the real world.
    But my LLM-based apps can display agency like behavior depending on what it either has described to it or image pastes.
    Agency - ability to react appropriately - and form goals etc is easily programmed in semi-stochasticslly by LLM app flow, no need for it to auto emerge.
    It’s similar to AGI in that sense. AGI will largely orchestratedly emerge as we add long and short term memory to LLMs and ask them to form goals and hsbits that achieve certain ends or efficiencies. A penalty function.
    Consciousness is something different again because in humans we actually feel it. Experience it.
    This is not understood in the slightest, not even by Roger Penrose.

  • @fredhearty1762
    @fredhearty1762 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Embodiment includes, as the critical element, sensing one's self as part of the activity. Picking up a simple object becomes embodied when one senses its own arm/hand moving into the frame and converging with the object to be acted on. Trail running, for another example, has the complexity of the rocky trail scrolling past the runner while runner's foot falls, center of gravity, power applied, etc. vary in lockstep with the passing trail. Embodied agent is part of the environment.

    Part of the problem is we can't really describe what embodied reality is but we can see the basics. It's like trying to feel things in the dark and understand what they are. It will just take time before AGI can develop embodiment. It's something that just has to develop from the input and feedback the AGI gets from the world around it.

      It's the 3rd time I try to tell him that European homes are capped on 40 Amps for the whole house. So single phase there is max 25 Amps available for charging at 230 Volts. This would limit the charge to 5.75 kW. So Nacs is unusable. Maybe it could be possible to use 2 phases at 400 V, but at 10 kW it's still less than the 11 kW which is now possible. So who in his right mind would propose to worsening the home charging capability for home charging.

    Having a body for AI provides a point of reference, because it forces the robot to learn in this world the same way we do through our actions in our environment. We had to do the same thing to build them, but in reference to the internet environment, as apposed to our physical world. And understanding this, is why science and religion go hand in hand. The world is so complex, that The Great Designer definetly exists. Some of the brightest micro-biologist, computer engineers, and mathmeticians also agree. If you need some introductory thought as to why this is the case. Read "Darwin's Doubt" by Stephen C. Meyer.

    People are not seeing the big picture. History shows the economic power of slaves. America was a backwater colony but in a few hundred years became s a world super power due to the economic advantage the south had over other industries from slave labor. Human slavery was abolished and Jim Crow became the new slave law and I would argue that we are all slaves now, wage slaves. Tesla bot will usher in a new epoch of slavery, one with no moral issues and will bring a new era of prosperity and growth to economies that capitalize on it. Think about all the places that work must be done that are too dangerous, unhealthy, too physically demanding or repetitive, too boring, or doesn't generate enough value to pay a human who must make enough to keep them going 24/7/365 instead of 8 hours per day. It's going to be a painful change however and we should all be working out the details of the change now. Anyone with any vision should be investing in Tesla now.
