You shoul implement instead flight line distance and flight hight, a GSD option and Overlap option, since every drone have known camera specifications this should an easy solution
So are you saying with waypoints map mission planner you have the option to set up a plan that can take shots automatically and one that uses the time shots. Or you always have to use the time shots with the waypoints mission planner
This software is WebODM, or at least some version of it. I recognize the left tab and the pictures in the upper right corner. It's an open-source photogrammetric software that until very recently had to run in a virtual machine. The latest version can run natively in windows. I have been using it for almost two years now, and am just scratching the surface of what it can do. Being open sourced, anyone has access to the source code and can modify it or create an API of their own.
I suspect what he is doing is coding a better and more intuitive user interface and combining the options to make a more beginner friendly version. It definitely has a bit of a learning curve. It's not as bad as other software out there, but it can certainly be confusing to anyone just getting started.
Hey I have this same drone and used the waypoints. During the mission if there is an obstacle that the drone notices, the drone will terminate the mission and hover in place. This only works if you have obstacle avoidance turned on. If it is disabled it will go through with the waypoint.
Cool demo thx - I had only used mavic 2 as it could interact with their waypoint rtk software and tried pix4d and drone deploy etc and they always focused more on top down with a final oblique view - I notice your shots just do the oblique which is cool- do you know if you need the top down for accurate map view or maybe this doesnt matter so much? After parking two mavic 2s in trees (a pro and a zoom) I was going to get mini3pro as it had rtk but the mini4 looks so much better for range etc and from the looks of your vid it’s completely do-able for some mapping and 3d work which I use a bit in my construction business with Web odm 😊
To overcome the controller crashing as that's the main reason I stopped my premium subscription have you tried removing the automatic action like "take photo" form the waypoint like and let the controller do it or does it not make a difference? There must be a way to use an iphone or ipad with the RC2 controller as it just crashes or over heats.
The controller crashes when you have to many points. If you are doing a large area just do the straighten lines + timed shots for the same effect. The controller crashing isn’t even on my end.
@@JaysTechVault would actually be good to chat to use sometime about this as i would normally program a flight in Excel knowing the SDK and the stacking process. I've never used or know how discord works but I think you have that, is it a voice thing?
Hello, I’m struggling and could use your help. Using the free version, I am unable to successfully copy over the KMZ file. I copy the name of the existing file and delete, then rename the new file with the same name. Simply copying and pasting. When I go to open the waypoints in the RC2 the old points still exist and the new doesn’t. Is there a better way to communicate with you so that I can get this working? Thanks
This is amazing bro thank you soo much. I have a question. If I use the software with the waypoints and then I take a few manually then can these be combined into the software? Or do you have to just use the ones made with the waypoint?
Hi, I am interested in using the dji mini pro to take photos of an area so that I can take the aerial map into a GIS like MapInfo or QGIS. Is this possible?
what will happen if in the middle of taking photos the sprinkler suddenly turned on or there are people / vehicles running through? will it mess the final product?
Amazing video. Such good results from minimal photos. What is the photogrammetry photo you use? EDIT: sorry, I didn't notice the pinned comment. Thanks!
Not that accurate. You need another device to give it good triangulation. This type of drone doesn’t have RTK capabilities. You could just take a single real world measurement and scale your model using that and that would make it better.
Brilliant idea man. But I absolutely can't get the RC2 remote to connect to Windows or Mac for the life of me. I draw the line where some forums had me trying to install some crazy drivers to get an old DJI program to even load.
You said the gimbal will tilt down *almost* 90°. For my larger area mapping / orthophoto jobs, i need true 90° / nadir orientation. Is it close enough to 90° for this to work?
Using drones not meant to create Photogrammetry, 3D Modeling, Orthomosaic or even high resolution stitched top-down photos is great for fun and learning the basics but you need the right equipment to create professional deliverables. Just my 2 cents.
What am I missing here? These look terrible, would you present that to a client? Or is a matter of more post production work. The pictures seem fine but the rendering looks to be a non starter.
It seems like it should be possible to use video instead of photos to do photogrammetry. I know videos produce a large number of images which is probably too much to process but if you set it to 24 fps and write a program to take every 24th frame from the video then that could work. The resolution may be lower that you get from the photo mode though. Is there any reason that video isn’t used? Edit: since you are already only using 12 MP then 4k 24 fps video would be fine, it would just take up a lot of storage, but then after you select every 24th or 48th frame you can delete the original video and save a lot of space, also since SD cards are cheap enough it shouldn’t really be an issue.
You actually over thinking and over complicating it but got the right idea. IMO videos always give me the best results, but like you said it does also produce like 30 still frame images every second. That's when you use a program that can extract all the best frames. Use Reality Capture for a free video slicer and a good one. Now the reason I've decided to just shoot video instead of wasting more time trying to snap enough pictures is because a video has a continuous flow which I find drastically helps the camera tracking easier which ultimately results in a more connected model. We have come to a point that we can shoot video with the same quality as the best cameras. While they may have crazy quality detail, it's diminishing returns and makes the whole process longer for something that may end up slightly better. I don't claim to be an expert, but I can say I've been doing 3D scanning since the iphone 12pro max which introduced the LiDAR Sensor.
12 minutes isn't long enough to completely explain the whole photogrammetry process. This seems to be targeted at people who already know what to do with photos but are not sure about how it applies to the Mini 4.
