Yeah, but... It broke close to the fulcrum. I agree that the glued joint will be stronger than the wood. Not arguing that, but I would suggest putting the join at the edge of the bench (fulcrum) and see what happens. This will be the point of greatest stress. It will probably break closer to the join but still within the wood. Nice idea though! 😇 Keep'em coming. Looks like a nice cutting board too!

I don't know how well it would work. I'm sure the bond would be somewhat strong. But part of what makes the bond with wood so strong is that the glue soaks into the wood fibers, which wouldn't be the case with metal.

There are a few videos on making casein glue, and it seems that if you use certain additives we can make your own waterproof-like plastic glue that's made from a natural protein. There is also something called caveman glue that is made with pine resin, charcoal, and beeswax (or animal dung for the flexibility lol) I haven't been able to try it myself, but it sounds like the most adequate option for a DIY glue. 🌎❤️

Gorilla wood glue tends to be a little more flexible and more crack resistant than Loctite type II or type III, but it also makes for slightly flimsier paper mache products if that's what you're looking for. It does make for an very durable and very chip/crack resistant sealant however. 🌎❤️
