  • Woodworking made easy. This wood end table may seem hard, but it actually was surprisingly easy to make. In this video I take you through the build process of this circular end table. We'll also discuss the design philosophy of less is more, and how that's important not only in furniture making, but through out many aspects of life. I appreciate all of you for the support and would love to talk more in the comments! See you down there! And as always thanks for watching!

    This design is incredible!!!! Wow, one quick suggestion, if you decide to remake this build with hidden cavity drawer, try using clamps when flipping the segmented parts over to keep them together?! Only if you have extra clamps to spare!

    Great style to the furniture you're making and in the way you're presenting yourself to the world. Looking forward to more!
    You might find interesting that Frank Lloyd Wright also held the same philosophy about the "too much crap" personal belongings lifestyle. His homes were delivered to clients fully furnished with his own pieces working in harmony with the architecture and surrounding nature. Minimal storage has been an adamant point addressed on every tour I've taken.

    When you flip the boards, stand to the side instead of in front. Also, you can clamp all three layers together before flipping.

    I really like the table and the video. I would like to try this 😊but it’s a bit intimidating. In particular, how did you know how to correct for the gap by recutting by an additional 1/4 degree? Understanding how to trouble shoot that would be helpful
    Thanks!

    • @kcraftsman6910

      It is easier than you think, just gotta give it a shot! So the angle was open at the long point (or the tip of the angle) this would mean that the angle needs to be a little steeper so like 12.25 degrees or whatever it actually was. The opposite would be true if there was a gap at the short point (or the inner face of the board) this would mean the angle needs to be a little more shallow.
      Now the more segments in the circle, the smaller the angle, and the smaller the adjustments will need to be. So I would recommend using less segments, But with less segments, you'll need thicker material. So there is a trade off there.
      I hope that some what helps/makes sense haha! Here is the link to the website I used to calculate things:
      www.woodturnersresource.com/extras/projects/segmentcalc/index.html
      When you are working on the table, if you have any questions, feel free to dm me on instagram and I'd be happy to help!
      Good luck to you!

Don’t use translate button, you won’t get the right translation.
    Question😂
    Did you use a bolt thru a bearing or just thru the ply for the jig?

    • @kcraftsman6910

Muchas Gracias 😂
      I just used a bolt through the ply wood, but if I keep using this jig, which I probably will, a bearing is gonna be a much better idea.

  • @Booseengye

    Which angles did you use to cut the wood please 🙏??

    • @kcraftsman6910

      12 degrees. You could find the angle by taking the number of segments and dividing 360 by that number. Then dividing by 2.
      So I'm my case I had 15 segments.
      360/15=24
      Then
      24/2= 12 which is the angle.
      Hope that helps!
