    77D = Better Iso + Low weight 540g. + Upgraded Processor Digic 7 + 5 axis stabilization for Video (Great for TH-camrs)
    80D= Little bit faster + more battery + More heavy 730g + Older (Digic6) + More expensive
    You're welcome.

      All three of these cameras have 45 crosstype autofocus points but 800d has only one control dial is the cheapest, the 77d has two control dials and a top panel and shoots 6 fps, the 80d has a bigger viewfinder (100% magnification vs 82% for the other two) than the other two but is bigger and weighs more, and it has a bigger top panel than the 77d andcan finetune lenses and shoots 7 fps.

    Great video and I know this video wasn't meant for me but I think there are a few thing you missed.
    1. the 77d has IBIS on video.
    2. 80d is weather/dust sealed which is great if you are traveling on winter or just worse conditions.
    3. Personally I would never shoot Jpeg so I want to put the photo through lightroom so BT does nothing for me as I need to get back to my laptop anyway.
    4. 80d is much heavier than the 800D.
    I recently went back from sony to canon and to the 80D and I couldn't recommend it enough. Amazing camera.
    If you are not sure which one to buy don't be afraid of the interface and buy the 80d.
    You can find great free 80D tutorial on the Tony northrup youtube channel that would walk you through every step and every setting to get the best out of your camera without sliders.
    Definitely get the 80d if you can afford it.

      Is it difficult to hold 80D in hand as compared to rebel series? If it's not much heavier than there is no reason to go for 77D. I am afraid of the bulky body of 80D.
      Please help me out.

    • @Ranblv
      @Ranblv 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Depends on your hands. the 77d is 540 grams (more or less) and the 80d is 730-740 grams (more or less).
      190grams is not insignificant but it's not gonna break your arms either.
      it also depends how long you hold it and if you use a strap.
      Maybe you should go to a store and ask to see it?
      I have big hands and my lenses are much heavier than the camera body so those 190 grams matters less for me.
      It's hard for me to know how it will feel for you.

      I am a student 20 years old , normal hand , feel easy to hold Canon t6i. With 80D I'll use 18-135 and 50mm. I haven't hold 80d in hand yet , that's why confused and there is no canon store in my city to check out.
      if it's not huge difference w.r.t weight and grip of hand , then I'll definitely go for 80D with 18-135.
      Thanks Thanks a lot

    • @Ranblv
      @Ranblv 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Angela: it's basically the same sensor, the 80d can take shots in faster shutter speeds but only certain kind of shots need that. the 80d can shoot 7 shots per second vs 6 in the 77d.
      If you don't know why you need that you probably don't.

  • @Alkrio
    @Alkrio 7 ปีที่แล้ว +65

    there is no any practical need to buy 80D instead of 77d. It has 1 more FPS and can shoot 1/8000 (that's funny that Gemma says that she choose 80d because of faster shutter speed "to take pictures of a moving kid", I would like to see a kid, moving so fast that 1/4000 would not be enough) and better build quality, but most of people will never need any of these features. 77d is much better than 800d because of controls. And all 3 cameras have the same AF system and image quality. So, if you don't need better build quality and pentaprism for extra $200 and you are not sick of the new interface - buy yourself 77d, you will be happy with it. I have 80d, because I've bought it before two others were announced and it is a good camera. Not perfect in any way, but good in almost everything.

      I disagree. As an amateur event photographer, shooting with 2.8+Midday Thai sun+1/4000: not usable results. I don't like nd filters. I would definitely get the 80d for better controls, specs and build. (weather sealing) although the 7dii would suit my needs better, I love flip screens so 80d may do it when I save up enough.

    • @davebrown3117
      @davebrown3117 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Aleksandr Kriuchkov I disagree. Have you considered battery life? The LP-E17 batteries in the 77D/800D are 1040mAh and the LP-E6N batteries in the 80D are 1800mAh.
      No practical reason to get the 80D over the 77D? How about battery capacity? I gave you a hint above with battery capacity.
      If you do you do the math, 6 LP-E6N batteries have more capacity than 10 LP-E17 batteries, if you use a grip on each camera. The last time I checked, a load of 6 LP-E6N batteries were cheaper than 10 LP-E6N batteries. Prices vary.

    Just bought the 77D. I had the canon T5i/700d for almost 7 years which is a great camera still works amazing but its time for an upgrade. Like WiFi and Bluetooth so I can transfer to my phone, Better picture & video, Faster focus etc. I mean the t5i shoots great videos and pictures with a good lens. It’s all about the lens. I enjoyed that camera and shot beautiful pictures of people and for my Instagram modeling but 7 years is pretty long so it’s time for upgrade 😌. So i was torn between t7i/800D and 77D. I chose 77D just because of the different body. I love the fact it has the weel. It makes navigating easier and it was actually $50 cheaper than the t7i so why not!. My t5i doesn’t have the weel and I kind of hate when going trough my pics and menu also no WiFi Bluetooth... So I can’t wait to receive my camera in the mail. Woohoo 📦 📸 I would love to have the 80D but it’s not worth it for me right now. I’m not a professional nor do I shoot professional videos. So I rather save the couple hundred and invest in a lens another time. ☺️

    Definitely I made myself my own conclusion and I going through after the canon EOS 80D that´s what I´m searching from more than a decade to overcome the old AL-1 QF from 1982 , this new canon will make a huge difference in photography at all levels : macros, landscape, movement targets in motion with the super fast shutter speed the EOS 80D brings on...

    This video confused me even more. However, the 77 D is lighter in your hand. I went to Best Buy and held the 80D, so heavy The 77 D is 1.19 lbs compared to the 80 D which is 1.61lbs. Weight wise, I would choose the 77 D. They seem very similar to me, when I compared them.

    I love my 80D and wouldn't change it for any reason.I've also still got my original 10D which needs a new shutter in it and I really want to get it repaired at some time.The 10D is better than the 80D for just one reason.Nearly 800 pages in the two instruction manuals for the 80D and about 150 total for the 10D.
    The 10D also took consistently better photos than the 20D and 60D which followed it and even though it had less dynamic range,it was still a lot more forgiving than the next two and much easier to just forget about loads of pointless gimics and just take photos with it!

  • @cnickolas1843

    Both 77d and 80d are excellent cameras. But Definitely 77d for me. It has an IBIS 5 axis stabilization when 80d dont ur hands will shake especially when the 80d is a lot heavier. and the DIGIC 7 in 77d has a better process on the focus speed and noise reduction when shooting with high ISO. One bad thing is it isn't weather sealing. I seldom care the bluetooth function in 77d but I know it would be a bonus to many people. I don't care about the 800d though.
    One more thing I would really want to know, does the 80d has a better file format on videos and could final cut pro edit that format? I dont even know what softwares could edit canon raw images .cr2 duh, I dont see Lightroom can do it.

    Gemma, thank you for the video!
    My wife and I want a great camera for capturing photos and video of our fast-paced children, sports, vacations, outdoors, hiking...pretty much an “all terrain” camera that we’ll be very happy with for many years to come. We aren’t very camera-savvy, but could learn pretty quickly. It seems I could get multiple great lenses with the t7i for the price of the 80D, but I am worried the t7i won’t do well outside regardless of the lenses. However, I really like the user interface function in the t7i and 77D.
    Would you recommend one of these over the other, or even another brand/model? The 80D is the most I want to spend.
    Thank you again!

    Shorter battery life? Buy more batteries in hand (solved)
    No weather seal? I've used it under light rains several times and it is still working great but always protect your camera as much as possible.
    Video? It is good for video. Just buy external mic like Rode to beat those windy sound then you are fine.

    Info of iso.
    800D and 77D has 7 digic image processor but 80D only has 6 digic image processor.
    It means 800D and 77D has iso 100-25600 (exp 51200 iso).
    80D only has iso 100-16000 (exp 25600)
    Which means 800D and 77D has better image quality in low light.

    4:30 - From iso.org: "Because 'International Organization for Standardization' would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), our founders decided to give it the short form ISO. ISO is derived from the Greek isos, meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, we are always ISO."
    It's a word 'iso', not an acronym 'I-S-O'. Think isometric or isosceles.

    I was going to pick the 77D until I found out there is no Canon factory battery grip for the camera nor for the 800D neither for that matter. That is a bummer. The 77D body is kind of small, a battery grip would have made it much more ergonomic to hold not to mention adding battery life. The 80D is a bigger camera and yet there is a Canon factory battery grip for it, just like the one for the 60D and 70D. To me, this is very close to being a deal breaker. Although you could buy an aftermarket battery grip for the 77D, however you can only control the shutter when you shoot vertical.
    But, it is July, 2019 now, the word is Canon will be bringing out a 90D that has a 32 megapixel sensor and IBIS. So, if you were thinking about the 80D, you might as well see what the 90D has to offer. But, I think the 90D body could be as much as double the price of the 77D body.

    I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling overwhelmed. Canon sure has done a masterful job ensuring customers are never satisfied, longing for more.
    If one is going to spend several hundred dollars on a DSLR, it makes sense to buy one that has AF Microadjustment, which is only on the 70D, 80D, and 90D. I'm looking at the 80D but not sure about paying a premium for old tech.

    Really simple review, aside from most Australians arent idiots, and do not need things this simplified, it might also be a good idea to realise that your market that are looking for DSLRs are a lot more technically minded than those who just want a point and shoot, it usually comes down to budget, and completely agree with one of the other comments you need to start putting 4K in even your entry level DSLRs

      Micro Motors UK I would wait for the 90D that’s been leaked recently. The 80D has a Digic 6+ processor, while the 800D has a Digic 7. Maybe the 90D will have the Digic 8 already and 4K video.

    This is ok but there is not enough detail. It's too much based around people who know nothing about cameras and should include extra information for people who want to make a more educated choice whether to choose one of these or to go Sony. Just a recommendation.

      Also, 70D can use Magic Lantern, none of these cameras do.
      You might also be interested in the new Nikon D7500 which has just been announced, with 4k.

    Forget those 800d and 77d. Used 70d it is much better because there is autofocus micro adjustment possibility. You will need that when shooting fast primes.

    I prefer using a video camera for video and 1080 is going to be fine for what I use it for for a long time...so no headphone jack is not an issue. I like that the 77D uses the batteries that my SL1 uses. I like that the savings from the 8-D makes the 24-70 2.8 that much cheaper making my dream combo closer to reality.
