I just stumbled upon your video on Exploring Alternatives and rushed to your channel to join. You are an absolute inspiration. I live in a condo community and planting anything other than flowers is not allowed. You have inspired me to try inside gardening. I have 19 plants already inside but none are veggies or fruit. I AM INSPIRED!! Thank you!
I just learned to make refrigerator pickles. I threw out so many because I couldn't eat them all. A couple cucumbers, sliced and put into a quart jar. Mix 1 cup vinegar, 1 cup water, and 3/4 cup sugar. Pour the mix over the cucumber slices cold and place in the fridge. Yum yum. Ten minutes.
Hey Asia, you're doing the thing! I did get up today and plant seeds. Finally. I saw you on "Exploring Alternatives" channel. That was really good. Your garden and everything else showed so nicely.😊 ❤❤
I'm here too through exploring alternatives. Fellow backyard gardener here and I'm enoying bingeing your videos while I have coffee:) Love your gardening style...not by the book, just the way I like it:)
Hello from the uk just watched you on Exploring alternatives it’s surprising what you can grow in small gardens I grow veg and fruit in my small garden not so good this year mild temp and lots of rain but still love it keep spreading the word everyone should be growing food no matter how small your garden is x
I’m so glad to find you thru Exploring Alternatives. I watch lots of gardening on youtube but there’s none like you that I’ve come across and I’m so happy to be able to watch you. I love your approach to growing food n flowers. Very real. Very positive. Very genuine. Thank you Asia for sharing what you do 😊
I binge listen to your videos while I drive back and forth across America. I love your Spring Me Please series. I listen to all commercials also. Do more series. I just put the list of your videos in watch later and let them play from one State to the next. Keep up the great work. I love your system of showing the details good and bad.
I was delighted when I saw you on Exploring Alternatives. I was like, "Hey that thumbnail looks familiar!" LOL Congrats on that! I've loved watching your channel for a while and I'm so happy you have more subscribers to learn from you, too!
Hi Asia and all I'm 80 years old and live in Northern Illinois and I wanted to tell you that I started container gardening this year and it was a great success and next year my containers are going to be bigger and better than ever accordance with what you're doing to I just want to tell you you were a great kick in the pants two people to get them going but I was going before I saw you at the end of the growing season and I just saw you now
I just found you when the Exploring Alternatives video came into my feed. I gotta tell you...I have been gardening for 23 years, and you are kicking my butt in every aspect of gardening! I do have an extra challenge of gardening on the edge of the desert AND the mountains, but I don't want to use that as an excuse. You are inspiring me. Keep it up. Signed...New Subscriber
Yayyy! For your 10k!! I have been watching, and you are always entertaining and informative. You learn with us; as we learn with you. We're in this together 😜 Thank you, Asia.❣️
Greens in general give the chickens a brighter yolk, which is why the grass fed chickens have a bright orange one. The entire echinacea plant has medicinal benefits. The flower petals and the leaves are used in teas and but the roots have the most medicinal benefits
Hi Asia! I am a gardener/self sustainabillity devotee from Sarasota Florida. I found you through a random video from Exploring Alternatives. Amazing what you have done and looking forward to seeing all your videos and supporting!
You are my kind of gardener. I too have a back yard garden with cinder block raised beds, grow bags, buckets, small inground garden, lots of trellises, chickens. I live in semi rural area in zone 7B/8a, but only have a small yard for my garden. Found you through Exploring Alternatives and so glad I did.
Yep...I did the same thing. Newbee here...I have soil in my laundry room pots in a corner and seeds in the closet. I need to go ahead and start planting for the fall.
I am in zone 7b and starting this year my vegetable garden and my dream is to have an edible forest garden, it is a dream since I bought my house and now starting to work towards it. Since covid I was pulled away to help family, but now I am ready and you inspire me to keep going. It is a lot of work to establish but one step at the time. thank you for your effort it does make a difference.
Yes Asia! Get plants at the nursery, that is what they are for! My husband works at a box store in the garden dept. and he says this all the time. We try to start seeds, but.... we're just not that good at it. I'm so glad to have found you on "Exploring Alternatives!"
You can overwinter pepper plants. Cut them back to one joint, put in pots and put in dark area, water sparingly during the winter. They will start so much faster than young plants.
New subscriber from the exploring alternatives video here. I'm like you I've just stumbled into growing fruit and veggies in our little gardens to help with the cost of living (in the U.K) but I'm loving it. Loving your videos .👍
I found you through Exploring Alternatives and I’m so glad I did! I am more rural than you but we have so much in common with gardening and chickens. Keep it up girl!
Hello Mrs. Lady! I saw you when you featured on another channel and just enjoyed your openness and optimism. I am a new Gardner and not doing so well in spite of me following some very gifted garners on TH-cam. I am sure I will eventually get the hang of it. Good luck and God Bless!
Found your channel after seeing you on Exploring Alternatives. Love your energy! Thank you for sharing that you can grow a garden simply. You are a true inspiration!
I pulled two plants today and reused the soil to plant a cabbage a white onion and a celery in my grow bag in my patio - small yard garden:). This my second year this fall.
From another urban gardener, discovering you from Exploring Alternatives. You are my Hero!!!! I rent so I cannot do what you do but you are such an inspiration!
I think because it's so hot things are slow to glow or germinate. My Gardener friends are telling me.."just to wait" one it gets down in the 80's. Everything will start popping up. I'm in 8b and I'm starting seeds outside since it's so hot. R.I.P snap dragons.
I DESPISE two weeds in particular here in my 10b zone garden. That wretched wispy grass and spurge! The only thing that works on that evil wispy grass is cardboard with thick mulch from a tree service and... pulling. As for spurge? Same thing. That reminds me, I have to get my diggy hand tool and remove that gawd awful wispy grass from my mini orchard today. Its gotta be done!😩 I've almost won the war, i can't quit now!🥹
Hello! I am so ready for fall planting. It is still in the hundreds here, even at night. I am going to find a way to put up shade cloth next year. I am surprised your following hasn't sky rocketed! You have amazing content and you're funny. Your peppers look great. I seem to be growing baby peppers. Wish you all the best!
Hello, love your garden and your personality too. 😍 I'm not sure this is right because I don't have chickens, but my friend who does told me they can eat Marigold petals but they should not eat the leaves and stems because they can irritate their mouths. She did say the petals themselves are very healthy. I'm growing roselle for the first time and hope you share what you decided to do with it. Happy gardening!
Im in zone 9a in North Florida. I'm growing herbs in pots. Just started the second round of produce. Yes the roots take all the soil! It's crazy how much roots weeds have! They sure choke out other plants.
Hi, I haven't been commenting lately, life be ah calling😅, I just wanted to state, I'm so pleased with your channel, glad I was within the beginning and still I'm thankful for all you share💕happy growing in always 🎉
I have always struggled with this. No matter the size of your garden, you have to decide how to allocate what you want to do with it. The further north you are, the less discussion. I am lucky that some animal came in and literally took out my beans and cow peas.
New sub from the Exploring Alternatives video. It was a Wonderful expose' of you and your Garden. You have a great vibe, and are soothing to listen to and watch. That is what gardening is all about. It's soothing and healing for the soul. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to watching more !!
I just saw your video on Exploring Alternatives and I was so impressed with you and your garden, love it! One thing I caught in that video was about the watermelon. In NY we grew sugar baby watermelon one year and it was a hit, sweet and juicy - and a miracle to me because we never thought we could grow watermelon here. They are a small round watermelon that will vine up onto cattle panels, ours vined onto a pool ladder. Looking forward to watching your videos!
I also saw you on Exploring Alternatives! So exciting to see what you are doing in your backyard. I want to transform my backyard. Love the city noises. It is what I hear every day all day. New subscriber!
Hi Asia, yes I am going to plant a fall garden. My seeds are up and baby plants are about 2” tall. I got a little carried away and said- oh they won’t all come up….they all came up. Lol . I love fall planting due to lack of bugs. Cabbage, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels, green and red onions, peas, beans, a few okra, lettuce, if I have room plan to start mustards and turnips. I told you we are a lot alike. 😊
Hi ma’am, I found you looking for gardening videos. It is very important to me to find urban gardening as I also live in the city and not a country environment I also am interested in the homesteading approach where I do everything as much as I can myself and in a cheap way. I also love my daughter seeing a brown skinned woman doing gardening to inspire her
Hi Asia! Nice clean-up on those beds. And awesome harvest. I'm going to call you the pepper Queen 😊 I'm waiting for the temps to go down some so I can do a garden clean-up because most of my fall seedlings will be ready for their final home in about 2 to 3 weeks. I'm so hype😄. As always, thanks for sharing!😊
Congratulations on your 10k. You continue to be awesome! Great work on Exploring Alternatives! Your hostess skill are better than ever. Have a wonderful week Asia. Blessings ❤
Good morning Asia I'm in zone 5 just having morning coffee watching you. Thx for the marigold tip I never considered that. Not sure if I wanna do a fall garden but I did start a few brassicas as always a pleasure😆many many blessings to you
Yes, I’ll be growing a fall garden this year and I actually started my seeds about two weeks ago and I got a hurry up and put my peas in the ground because they’re like at least 6 inches tall already. But we had that hurricane come through today, and I knew it was gonna be able to get my plants in the ground.
You inspired me to move to a home to have a more sustainable lifestyle Got a little behind on your videos but catching up now Yes I saw Exploring Alternatives and I’m excited for you I have work to do to get to the point of gardening and hope to have a fall garden…. Much success to you

Congrats on 10K Asia! Whoo hoo Love watching your videos, now I know what I need to go out and pull, etc,,, my tomatoes are actually still putting on fruit and also has so much on there that needs to at least blush on the vine so I can pick but I got so many tomatoes mostly the smaller variety. My beef steaks didn't get too beefy LOL. Thanks again for the time you put into showing us your garden. I look forward to watching your videos and do even when I can't comment. 💝 Much love from Middle GA Zone 8a
It could be the cardboard. Did you use it to line all your beds? If so, try tilling the soil beneath it to aerate and help break it down or remove it. Just a suggestion. 💚
One of my raised beds is full of roots too. They say that they will rot down but that's not always the case. I'm removing all of the soil this fall and starting over with fresh soil.
Congrats on 10K+ Your video on Exploring Alternatives was great. Yes get those bed ready for Fall. Nothing wrong with getting starts, they are just pricey. tfs
Saw you on the other show and subscribed! Love ur friendly personality. We've been gardening for about the same length of time. I'm a proud product of TH-cam university! I'm back and forth on getting the chickens.
Hi 👋🏾! O ok cool! I am too! TH-cam has definitely taught me how to go this! Chickens are fun and pretty low maintenance in my experience. What’s keeping you from it?
Thanks for replying 🙂. Sigh...something else to take care of. The mind is willing but Man! My mind can't handle one more thing to think about!! 😆 see back and forth. Guess now isn't the right time. Enjoy your day!

Hi 👋🏾! Welcome to the channel! Thank you for subscribing!
