"From time to time, to remind ourselves to relax and be peaceful, we may wish to set aside some time for a retreat, a day of mindfulness, when we can walk slowly, smile, drink tea with a friend, enjoy being together as if we are the happiest people on Earth." - Thich Nhat Hanh (Being Peace)
I have had "success" with mindful movements. I call it swimming. Swimming is very sensual and at the same time it demands ones attention because even breathing becomes a technique. With every movement there is a sense of ease or resistance, balance or imbalance. Speaking ceases and there is only the sounds of the body and the water. It can be a very active way to meditate.
I have found sitting meditation isn't always a relaiable way to restore oneself. I assume that's why Thich Naht Hanh came up with these movements. Anyone had much success with the mindful movements, (i intend to buy the DVD).
@YouOnlyLiveTwice big changes in circumstances, but okay. Using body scans, among other things, as a method of grounding and relaxation. Since lockdown I haven't been so hung up about work. I needed that. Needed to 'let go'.
The secret is to concentrate on the present. The very moment you think about what you have to do or how much money you need to buy that new car you've lost contact with the present.
Does anyone wish to learn mindfulness very fast ? My mum will teach you. You basically run everywhere, pay no attention to anything or anyone. Fast mindfulness! 🤯
dear Phain, wonder what you mean by this, I am a yoga and qigong teacher and you would wonder how many young people have difficulties even reaching the floor and if you know the 10 movements they are good for all ages. They in time give you the flexibility that yoga does and they are not exercises"but movements. And remember, too hard exercises ,sooner death. And that is scientifically proven.Sylvia

This is wonderful for my daughter and mother who complain about exercise.

In time these healing practices of the body and mind have brought me health & happiness.

Thank-you, I have bought the DVD and will try these as an exercise. I hope to get some peace from it. I don't expect it to untie my emotional knots.
