  • An excerpt from the world premiere of CATAMORPHOSIS with the Berlin Philharmonic and Kirill Petrenko in January 2021.
The core inspiration behind CATAMORPHOSIS is the fragile relationship we have to our planet. The aura of the piece is characterized by the orbiting vortex of emotions and the intensity that comes with the fact that if things do not change it is going to be too late, risking utter destruction - catastrophe. The core of the work revolves around a distinct sense of urgency, driven by the shift and pull between various polar forces - power and fragility, hope and despair, preservation and destruction.

A surrealistic journey that really gets under your skin. I especially liked the part "Polarity". Many, many thanks for this Anna.

Witnessed this performed just last week by the New York Philharmonic opening up for Stravinsky's Rite of Spring. Wonderful pairing, a night of cosmic and beautiful darkness! I was absolutely blown away by this piece and have been raving about it since. Those slow string pitch bends give me goosebumps.

Such a cool piece. I listened to it yesterday and there are so many interesting different elements. I love how you play with timbre.
