The explanation for your vision at night is the relation between the size of the effective optical zone (the portion of your cornea that's corrected after healing) and your pupil size at night. There's plently of info regarding pupil size and night vision issues online, but feel free to ask if you have any questions. For anyone curious, if your pupils are bigger than 5mm (which is the approx. size of the OZ after healing) at night (scotopic conditions), your night vision will be significantly worse after any refractive surgery than it is now with contacts or glasses. Some people can't safely drive at night because of this. I'd also suggest you never ever rub your eyes again. Eye rubbing after refractive surgery increases your risk of developing ectasia (similar to keratoconus but resistant to treatment) significantly.
@@aidystv3604 glasses can only give you a bit more clarity in low light conditions after refractive surgery. Starbursts, halos, ghosting/double vision and other higher order aberrations can't be corrected with glasses, but scleral lenses can eliminate the majority of them. You'll be fine with glasses if your problems are easily managed without them, but if they're severe to the point you can't drive, scleral lenses are the only thing that can help.
@@aidystv3604 I don't think glasses will correct your vision. What you're dealing with is called higher order aberrations and can only be corrected with scleral lenses and/or pupil constricting drops.
It is true that if the pupil dilates beyond the treated area, there can be an increased risk of night vision disturbances. This is why it's important for surgeons to consider the size of the OZ and the potential size of the pupil in low-light conditions during the surgery planning phase. Advances in refractive surgery technology and techniques, including wavefront-guided treatments and the use of high-resolution imaging to measure the cornea more precisely, have helped address these concerns more effectively in recent years. Larger OZs can help reduce the risk of night vision issues, and customization of the procedure to the individual's eye characteristics can lead to better outcomes. It's very individual for sure, but I wouldn't worry about it in advance. Wait a year and trust that your surgeon did a good job...
@@64chrigu I agree with most of what you said. I'd only add that the advanced wavefront technology doesn't eliminate the problem and surgeons should still plan to either match the optical zone with scotopic pupil size or tell the patient they're not eligible for surgery if this is not possible. The biggest problem is, the surgeons that follow this are a minority.
I'm not sure what you're asking exactly, But I was very near cited pre surgery. My prescription was about -6. But after the surgery I have not had any issues with being near cited again. I've had very good vision since then as talked about in the video If you're hoping to know more about my eyes pre surgery I have made a video about that on my channel. Hope that helps!
@@rejectmodernity3045 I think I understand what you’re asking. And my other videos discuss the exact questions you’re asking! Unfortunately I do not know what the possibilities of correction are if there are long term vision issues. It's a no. Yall, chronic dry eye is NO JOKE! Giving up eyeglasses for eyedrops due to dry eye is bonkers and expensive. You have one set of eyes. That's it. Up to you.
Hi from germany i did the prk too i am in 5th week after the surgery! Before i saw in the far bad i had -4 Dioptrien but now after the surgery i cant see in the near so it changed . I am confused now if its getting better in the near? And even in the far i had bad days / moments i cant see clear and some days i see almost perfectly in the far. What do u think about it ?
@@HARRY-ue1lb I talk about this in the video i mentioned: the 3 week update.
It sounds like you’re relearning how to see. The muscles used for far vision is different than for near vision. So it’s likely that your muscles in your eyes are still learning how to see near!
@nyarinyax thank you so much for your fast response i hope its getting like before this is the only thing i am very concerned
@@HARRY-ue1lb if it makes you feel better, my eyes weren’t 100% healed until around the 6 month mark

You’ll be fine. In the video I referenced, I’m explaining the recovery while I’m at 3 weeks. And it was at that point that I was finally feeling like I could start doing regular things like driving, seeing clearly at night, etc etc.
I’d say it took me anywhere from 4-6 weeks to fully feel comfortable with my eyes. So no worries! You got this!

1. What was your power before surgery.
2. I have -3 power, will I have lesser issues compared to someone who had -4 or more power?

And my personal advice when it comes to eye surgery: if it’s not going to change your life, it’s not worth it.
That’s what I tell everyone who asks me about the surgery. For me it was literally a life changing experience. But for the people who only need glasses when driving, or when they’re traveling in an airport or something… idk if I would risk anything
I’m not a doctor, and I’m not super knowledgeable about all this stuff. But that logic makes sense to me haha

Everything which is like 5 ft away, I need my specs to see. Over the last year it's become a big problem. Plus I am a software engineer, so I work with my laptop or mobile for hours together.
This is the reason I just want surgery to get rid of glasses. Plus I had PRK recommended by the top hospital. I am just here to know how it works, the recovery and aftermath.
I will definitely go through the other videos of yours to know more in detail.
Did you do monovision? How is your relearning to focus with different eyes?
I think the reason why you're getting the Starburst/ blurry is because your pupils are dilating because of low light at night.
Is it OK to take sleeping pills during the rough time post surgery?
What is the length of healing?
I went with Bates. Went from -2 to -0.75 in a year. Cost :$40. Pain: 0.
Can you talk more about this, sounds like it would be good to make a video about it

Hey did you face double vision issue after prk and if yes how long it will take for you to get rid of t double or ghsot image please reply i am really worried
Hey! I did have double vision for a little while after the surgery. My eyes healed at different rates, so it took a few months before it completely went away.
Pre-Surgery my left eye was -6 and my right was -4.5. So during healing they were both doing their own thing
I've also had a few comments saying it took up to 6 months for their double vision to go away. And others saying it was only a matter of a week. So just be patient, and if the issue persists, consult with your surgeon! Good luck!
How long are you after a surgery? I'm also experiencing double vision / ghosting. I'm about 2 month post surgery. It's getting a little better each week but I feel I'm only half way trough it.

Conventional prk or trans-prk?
I have problem with night vision.. If this continues after 3-4 month.. Do i have to wear glasses just for driving at night?
Do you have near vision problems, is it same as before??
I'm not sure what you're asking exactly,
But I was very near cited pre surgery. My prescription was about -6.
But after the surgery I have not had any issues with being near cited again. I've had very good vision since then as talked about in the video

@@nyarinyax Like, some people have problems after surgery that they cant see as good close (PC, reading etc). Is your close up vision same as before??

The steroids messed with me more than anything. No pain. Just sweating and strange symptoms.
Did it mess with your senses at all? Or was it more only the sweating?
@nyarinyax I'm on prednisolone acetate 1%. My surgery was this past Friday on my right eye before cataract surgery. I have no pain or discomfort at all. I did sweat a lot after my first 2 drops. I have a good supplement support system I built for myself, and for the last 9 months, I have been walking 5 miles every single morning and working out. My immune system is rock solid, and I am only 56 years old. I have taken my health very seriously in my life. I am scheduling both of my cataract surgeries together in a few months, so I can make my time on steroids as short A time as possible. 51 days for scar tissue on my right eye and then the cataracts together. I am still deciding on what lens I want.

Unfortunately I do not know what the possibilities of correction are if there are long term vision issues.

But, logically in my head, it would make sense for any blurriness to be able to corrected using glasses. But who knows 🤷🏾♂️
