I think having the auxilary drag brake on a convenient switch makes a lot of sense. I used to have my two speed transmisson under my thumb all the time, made for a really fun drive. Anything to make the driving more dynamic than forward/brake/reverse is good.
Good vid. I'm full on your page, bought also a Ryft kit and a radio i like. Thinking of installing a Copperhead 10 3300kv combo. Nice idea with a switchable dragbrake. Will use that for sure. 😊
NICE! Ive had my Ryft for a while now and it always annoyed me that it freewheels too much but when I set a drag brake its hard to modulate and I end up doing front flips. I just learned about the Castle Aux wire today and this is a total game changer for me! I will def be doing this. I love doing crawl/bounce combo style trail runs with the Ryft and this is the ultimate setup for those conditions. I think I'm going to take it a step further and do a two speed trans as well. Thanks for sharing!
You will love the castle system I’m running the same thing mamba x and 2400kv motor with a 14t pinion it’s still to fast really but still crawls pretty good
Nice video - I have a ryft as well and am building it out and upgrading it as time goes on, primarily as a crawler (I splurged for the portal axles and they are amazing - just what I was wishing for), but with the ability to bounce/bash on occasion. THE thing that keeps me away from Castle is the absolutely annoying noise they make. It just grates on me. I guess it doesn't bother everybody like it gets to me - I get that, but it's the deal breaker for me. I've been having good results from the Hobbywing AXE R2 system (3300KV 550 size). A couple notes though: 1) The kind of 'break' you are referring to is spelled BRAKE. Like an car's parking brake. Not like a leg break. Sure, call me a grammar nazi but it's like using the correct 'there/their/they're'. 2) Any programmable radio will work. It doesn't have to be a Futaba brand.3) Hobbywing (at least the Axe R2 system that I know for sure, from experience) and Tekin (again from experience) both have radio adjustable drag brake. The Axe R2 also has an 'Auto' setting for 'Drag Brake Rate' that takes care of it for you and works amazingly well.
The drag brake feature is a huge draw for me with the castle X. I have it on my 6x6 and I have other set to engage when I shift into low and disengage when I'm in high gear. Cheers great video.
Running the Tekin RX4/2300HD Combo in my Ryft. They also offer the ability to have adjustable dragbrake. But I think that is the only option available. I thought the Castle was only able to swap Modes and that was one reason I almost went with a Castle system. But that damn WHINE is just too much for my audiophile ears. heh> Love the on the fly drag brake. With the Tekin, works with any radio which is a plus, I have it set with my 3 position switch C. you have to move one way and go back to neutral to make one click with it, so I move it forward and back to neutral for more drag brake and backwards and back to neutral for less drag brake. can cycle through to the exact step of drag brake setting you want to move to from 1-7 I think it is.
I’m pretty sure I was wrong about it only working with Futaba. I’m pretty sure it works with any brand. I use to use the dial but I found I either wanted full drag or none at all.
The wheels are Treal. And the aux function will work with any radio that has a 3rd channel. I’m using it now with my Spektrum Rugged. Initially I thought it was Futaba only.
@@JasonPerrinRCVlogs thanks. Jes i know. But on futaba and Spektrum you can use the castle bus adapter for esc telemetry data read on the radio display. This is the only thing i miss on Sanwa Radio, Castle has no Adapter for it.
@@JasonPerrinRCVlogsi fund it. But is the price of 50$ for 2 rims on amazon normal? Or did you know a shop with a better price? Mabe for me it’s a problem to get it in Germany or find a shop with a good shipping price.
If you have AVC enabled, the 3rd and 4th channel: Aux1, Aux2 are reserved for AVC Steering and throttle gains, so it becomes a 3-channel system and one must use Aux3 for the third channel.
@@onegr8greekguy1 wow good to know I started to get one glad I didn’t. I was leaning hard towards the copperhead for my scx10iii but I believe I’ll definitely go with the mamba x for it to.
I did this to my Ryft with Flysky NB4 Noble works really great! thanks Man!
Super cool drag brake trick! Definitely gonna use this on my ryft! Thanks!!!

Thanks for the info on the aux wire I wired it up and it’s a really good feature

So is quietness the main benefit of the Tekin system? It is quite a bit more expensive than the castle.
@@75Chopin It's not the only benefit. Tekin are High Quality units. Made in US is a huge benefit as well.
100% with you on the WHINE. Can't do it. Will pay to not have to feel like I am at the dentist when using my RC.
Good point. Going to begin my build, soon, and I was planning on getting the Cooperhead but, hmm… .
Awesome video! You just showed me a way easier way to get to the electronics! I guess it helps to put a lot together instead of rtr, lol
I’m running this exact set up.. just on 4s hahaha. I use every last drop of power with proline 2.8 paddles and deep snow.
Great video,information and install
Great video ! what's the TX setup for the drag brake on/off ? (I have the DX5Cbut I assume it will be the same)
i had mine on my trx4 set to low gearr had full drag brake and high no drag brake its awesome
I love caste too but i drive Sanwa Radio.
Thanks for showing.

Hey mate, could you tell me what are your rims dimensions wide/height/inner diameter in mm?

As far as I know copperhead has all the same features as mamba x it’s just 4s capable instead of 6s like the mamba x
no aux wire on the copperhead and limited data logging are two other differences
