@@desertfox1097 Wouldn't be having to if racists didn't exist. White people created racism and as a black person i know exactly what it looks like. You sound like you're sympathizing with one. You must be a racist also. To turn this statement around to suit white people during a situation where the entire school district is trying to prevent two hard working young black men from graduating when they earn it. Racist whites have a long history of interfering with black peoples education and you want to make a stupid comment like that? No it's not the same thing moron. Perhaps you dropped out

@@desertfox1097 let me rephrase that. The superintendent is a racist, and let me help you understand what common sense is so you don't make more stupid comments in the future. It's not the same thing. White people prejudge black people and try to suggest we are criminals, trying to steal from a store, or do harm of some sort. That's not the same as what I said. This person is actually backing the schools decision to suspend black students and not allowing them to walk across the stage during graduation. Therefore that is a racist gesture and they all deserve the title of being a racist. See, they already committed the crime. I don't go walking down the street calling all white people racist like those who consider all black people a criminal. See the difference now? Smh

And that superintendent comparing his hairstyle to showing up at graduation in your underwear is pathetic. I really hope this family not only wins this case, but hopefully this issue will change that dumb sexist policy.

This will be my only reply to you since I think name calling is for immature grade school kids, but I didn’t say anything about race. I said I thought it was SEXIST. Do you know what that means?? Lol.
Now if this kid wanted to walk down the graduation isle in his whitey-tighty underwear (like the superintendent said is a similar situation) than yeah I’d have issues with that. It’s just HAIR. It’s sexist and wrong that a MAN (who cares if they are black or white) is being told he can’t have long hair.
If male kids couldn’t have long hair where I lived than many kids wouldn’t be able to go to the ceremony. It’s not a big deal. Half the seniors have facial hair too. It’s not the military it’s a public school.

"Male students’ hair will not extend, at any time, below the eyebrows, or below the ear lobes. Male students’ hair must not extend below the top of a t-shirt collar or be gathered or worn in a style that would allow the hair to extend below the top of a t-shirt collar, below the eyebrows, or below the ear lobes when let down."

I had long hair in high school and it so much effectived my education. Cause I only graduated raised kids and lived a life that I needed to. Eventually did cut my hair cause I started losing it with age. I'm quite sure this is very racially motivated. Hippies in the 6o's- 70's made it through life after having long hair.

I just read it, it’s clear as day, there is no one stopping these kids from going to another school. The rules are the rules. When you teach your children that if you don’t like a Rule, you can cause a stink to get your way. Then we wonder why there are so many selfish self centered people walking around. You can’t have colored hair as well in that school. We’re anyone else upset about that? Come on people. What are we teaching the younger generations?

You shouldn't speak of things you are confused about. The rule is new because it's an amendment. They changed it to state that your hair can't touch your shoulders EVEN IF IT'S IN A PONYTAIL. They randomly made this change in the middle of the year. Unless your parents are under the age of one, your statement is false. The school didn't like his dreads so they specifically changed the rules so that he would be forced to cut them. THAT is the entire point. That's why it has become an issue now. Keep up.

Strict dress codes and shit are for private schools in which parents expect that their children will have such polices and are made aware of such polices before sending their children. 1. Wanna walk? Chop the shit shorter, but not all the way off. It’s hair! It’ll grow back. We really gon spend time arguing this? While mama debating & doing interviews, buddy gon be missing classes. Play the fuckin’ game, get your diploma, then move on & prosper.
    2. Don’t cut your shit, stand on your principles, & go to some alternative school. If you wanna spend time/money/energy appealing & suing the institution, knock yourself out. You’ll lose the case, but at least you’ll win in the court of public opinion.

There’s a time & place for everything. 3 months before graduation OBVIOUSLY isn’t the time. In the time it takes to pursue legal action, he will have already graduated & moved on with his life.
STOP TRYING TO ICE SKATE UPHILL!!! As Black people, we have to have the wisdom to choose our battles wisely. Everything you’re saying SOUNDS good, but doesn’t solve the problem or gets him closer to his goal. We’re not talking about voting, civil, or human rights here. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT HAIR!!! If you’re willing to sacrifice a quality education for a hairstyle, then we have a much bigger issue to deal with. SECURE THE BAG!!! 💰

I would add though, if we don't come together, again, collectively to own our ish and create our own rules, we will continue to put our kids in compromising positions - there's no reason why our kids should have to put their values and souls at risk. May we get to the point where we can build our own school districts. 💯
