I love that you're not just enjoying the show, but also invested enough to catch the small details. Like noticing that Bakugo used Uraraka's name, and realizing the significance of that immediately.
"What part of her was frail" is one of my favorite lines from the entire show. For me, this was really where I started to turn around on Bakugo. Obviously his brash attitude is a front, but the respect he gave Uraraka when everyone else was going "oh this poor, weak girly girl" was awesome.
I like it because it shows that none of what Bakugo does is a front. He's being honest with himself and everyone around him all the time whether or not it goes with the flow.
See, for me it's the opposite. That was one of the most entirely one-sided fights in the entire show. Compared to Bakugo, she IS a poor weak girl. She was NEVER a threat because it is, and I say this without exaggeration, physically impossible for her to win that match no matter what she does, and bakugo's last attack literally proved it. She hit him with the most powerful attack she could think of and it didn't even come CLOSE to working. He blew it away like nothing. I say like nothing, because while he makes a big deal about how it temporarily strained one of his arms to do that blast, that means, at a minimum, he can do that TWICE in rapid succession without exhausting himself, which means he had enough gas in the tank to win that fight in the first 2 seconds, but chose not to because he's not smart enough to realize how much of an overwhelming advantage he had in that fight. Had he done something like that (or frankly even less by a wide margin) he would have INSTANTLY blown her out of the ring. She legitimately had no chance from the start. Even if she DID touch him, and make him float, which WAS her plan you'll recall, the ONLY thing that accomplishes is that he can now fly even farther and even faster with each blast, giving him more advantage than he started with. She literally makes him more powerful by making him float. She has no way to force him out of the ring, period, so raw power was her only chance, and we both know that is not close by any means. Bakugo is MUCH quicker to react in physical combat, so if she gets close enough to touch him, the same is true in return. If he is able to grab her, ever, at any point, he instantly wins, because he is strong enough even at this point in the show to EASILY kill her at close range if he wants to. Grab her by the arm (or throat), blast her in the face, instant victory. I have no issue with Uraraka as a character. In the right situations, her power really shines and she's unbelievably useful. She is a perfectly fine hero and an ok side character for the show. But this was not a good showcase of that even though it pretends to be. This was an unnecessarily dragged out curb stomp and nothing more, and for that reason it is my least favorite episode in the entire show, bar none. It has no significance in any capacity because it's a sham through and through.
@@kingofbudokai i doubt Bakugo would have the ability to control himself while floating immediately; i think the first blast would catch him off guard, and as soon as he floats outside the arena, Uraraka releases her ability and he will fall. granted, he might be able to catch himself before hitting the ground, but we will never know for sure
@@vRED13vTTV That could only ever be true if he didn't know how her ability works, but he's already seen her power in action, so he knows exactly what she's capable of. Not to mention, even if he overdid it, that would just propel him even HIGHER into the air than he was expecting to go, giving him more time to catch himself if and when she did release the effect. And in both cases, that is still ignoring the fact that, as I already mentioned, there is no world in which she is able to touch him and he doesn't grab her in response and blow her to smithereens. They even made a point in the episode to specifically highlight his extremely good reaction time, effectively verifying that as the case. I'm telling you, there IS no universe in which she had a chance of winning that fight, which is why it's so silly that they hype the fight like it's anybody's game when it's clearly not to the rational viewer.
Carlie catching on to Uraraka doing something with the rocks Bakugo is blasting at her is amazing! Most people at first thought Bakugo just liked launching explosives at her because of his "Explosive" nature but he really was trying to keep her away because he realized she can make things float (at 2:04), every explosive he launched had intense knockback!
9:22 notice this little detail Uraraka is the only one in her class to have a flip phone, everyone else has a smartphone. Remember that she wanted to be a hero for money so that she can help her parents? The flip phone shows that she's not exactly from a well-off family. My headcanon is that she refused to be given a smartphone and probably said that her old phone still works alright or something.
Still he is the only idiot 💀. Bakugo was not even suprised by the meteor shower. Monoma lost the cavalry battle to bakugo exactly because of battle iq and teamwork. Yet still in season 5 monoma thinks somehow bakugo didn't change and thinks bakugo won't work with his team . Monoma is not so smart afterall 💀
@@denji3397 How would he be supposed to know Bakugo changed ? He isnt part of the audience or in the same class as him to see him day by day. He IS a smart character
You're definitely one of the reactors who didn't get mad at Bakugou for going all out with Uraraka and you even noticed that he called her by her name, small detail but has a very sigmificant meaning. That's why I love watching your MHA reactions! ❤
Bakugo is one of the realest characters on this show, and he always subverts expectations. It’s like “take everything you think you know about bakugou. Got it all? Now throw it all away and sit back and watch"
This was the episode that made Uraraka my favorite. As someone who could relate to her reason for being a hero, for money, and to help her parents, it really hit close to home when she called her dad. I get teary-eyed every time. Her fight with Bakugo is really good, too. She came up with a strategy that came very close to winning, all on her own (though she did have Deku as inspiration). Bakugo even gives her some respect, too. He calls her by her name and didn't once think she was weak or frail - he believed she was a worthy opponent and didn't underestimate her. Also, Carlie, don't worry - lots of people began to ship them after this, including me ^^
Aw yes, that point where Ochako went from “Aw she’s the cute underdog who’s a possible love interest for the protagonist” to “HOLY S**TBALLS THIS GIRL IS A LIVING WEAPON.” Also you’ll notice through the series that Bakugo goes a little easier with the yelling with the girls than he does the guys. Not much less but it’s there - he yells at them to try harder but he never expects them not to be able to do something.
Aizawa a legend for defending Bakugo. Also, for everyone saying Uraraka deserved MVP, think abt this: despite her frankly good plan, despite all her determination and resolve, despite all her tricks... In the end, Bakugo did blast through it all. S2 EP12 SPOILERS AHEAD And what's more, he blasted straight through it with very little effort, AFTER firing off multiple smaller but still significant explosions. For those saying he had to try really hard, and it's the equivalent of Deku breaking his fingers, here's why I don't think so. According to Present Mic, he used at least the same sized blast against Todoroki, and after being knocked back by the blast, he immediately jumps back up and runs over to him, grabs his shirt, and starts threatening him. No sign of pain, not a single moment spent on animating any discomfort. I think that he just slightly exerted himself against Uraraka due to the multiple fairly strong explosions he used against her. It's more like him getting winded than breaking a finger or coming close to defeat. All this is just my opinion ofc, and I'd love to hear anything y'all have to say to the contrary. Please put a spoiler alert tho, for ppl who haven't reached that far yet!
Happened in the Cavalry Battle too. Bakugo called Kirishima "Weird Hair" while forming teams but used his name when they went after Monoma. Still called Mina and Sero "Raccoon Eyes" and "Flat Face" though.
And then he started saying Kirishima, then calling Deku Izuku (his first name which is even more significant) to calling todoroki by his name ☹️☹️ the character development is insane
I love that Kirishima and Tetsutetsu's fight (and I love that his name is Tetsutetsu tetsutetsu) basically end with "did we just become best friends?" I hope they went on to do karate in the garage.
Such a great episode, both for Uraraka and Bakugo. How Uraraka fought speaks for itself, but Bakugo's interaction with her told us a lot. Like, obviously we knew that Bakugo's rough "Die! Die! Die!" attitude is a bit of a front (but also part of who he is), but we've now seen numerous times what lies below that - a calm, analytical mind, intelligence and absolutely genius combat ability - and this episode reaffirmed that. When most people, even most classmates and pros, were looking down on Uraraka and not understanding why she acted the way she did and how much it took for her to do so, Bakugo recognised that she was not to be underestimated, that he would have to be on guard and take her seriously. He recognised how far she was able to push him and he acknowledges her skill. Him calling her by her name at the end - which you catched wonderfully - carries a lot of significance. Bakugo tends to call most people by their defining characteristics and doesn't concern himself a whole lot with them. But when someone get acknowledged and respected by Bakugo, he recognises & calls them by their name.
I don't think MVP just needs to go to whoever is successful. Uraraka was at a disadvantage, her quirk is much less suited to combat, but she still did well. Being impressing, entertaining, touching, should be factors in MVP as well. But Bakugo is my favourite so I'm fine with him getting it too.
there's so many subtle character hints that people miss, and I'm so glad you both pick up on those things. they make the story so full, and makes us appreciate it more too :D
LOVE THIS EPISODE SO MUCH Uraraka putting up an awesome fight, Bakugo giving her the respect she deserves, the phone call that will ALWAYS make me cry....
Just because Uraraka had a smarter plan has nothing to do with getting mvp. Bakugo deserved the mvp more than uraraka, he is stronger and despite him being rude and all doesnt mean hes dumb. Bakugo has exceptional Combat score overall a lot more than uraraka. In a 1v1 against Uraraka Bakugo takes the mvp at all times.

Bakugo is my favorite character in the show, and this is the first episode were they show his development in high contrast. More to come, and oh boy... shit will go down (pun intended lol)
Kacchaco are SOOOO siblings coded further down the line lol! it's kind of like how you love your siblings and respect them overall, but they annoy the s**t out of you. Bakugou is the oldest in Class 1A and he totally gives off older brother vibes as well😆
regarding the hero of the episode part, it doesnt *have* to be someone that won a fight, it can just be someone that did something cool, or that stands out
Bakugo is angry but he is very intelligent and doesn't make the same mistake twice. He adapts very quickly but he his down side is that his ego is massive and it hurts him emotionally when that ego gets a reality check
A lot of other people in the comments have said similar, but this was the 1st episode in this anime where I gave a lot of props to Bakugo. He wasn't complacent at all with Ochako and went all in against her which shows the level of respect he had for her that the crowd and even some of class A clearly lacked. Was also cool that Aizawa and surprisingly Monoma seemed to have that same level of respect

Guys, remember that Quirks are a physical thing mainly, of the body. Even the ones that include mental stuff. As with everything, you can train it, improve it, and grow it stronger. But, as you said, overexerting when you haven’t trained enough will hit you, like Bakugo with that super move
Endeavor’s an interesting character because even at his worst his public persona as a pro hero is air tight. If Shoto hadn’t told us his backstory we probably never would have known Endeavor was anything but All Might’s slightly belligerent rival
This episode made me love bakugou even more dawg. Despite Uraraka being a girl and everyone underestimating her, he doesn’t gaf and goes just as hard and doesn’t go easy on her bc he believes she’s strong and earned her place there against him. He was fully ready to fight her and not let up despite everyone else thinking she was a “frail girl” Also mineta straight up asking if he was gay bro “bakugou don’t tell me your taste runs in that direction” like bro even MINETA could tell😭🙏🙏
monoma was calling the pro an idiot. he said that it made sense that bakugo didnt notice cuz he is in the arena but the audience were dumb for not noticing
I love that unlike others Bakugo treated Uraraka as future hero. As a threat with potential of beating bad guys in the future. In real fight nobody would back down just because she is a girl. And she definitely isn't a weak one.. And Bakugo knows that. Not every reactor gets this. It's nice to see that some do.
Just in general i think you guys catch so many more little details than others while still gettijg just as hype I don't think ive ever seen anyone else notice that Bakugo used Urarakas name, and very few catch on the the floating rock plan before the reveal I do hope yall realize Monoma wasnt calling Bakugo the idiot though lol
i think dekus plan of flawed to begin with. touching bakugo wouldnt just send him flying, in fact it would help him so much more given that hes already shown to have great arial control. uraraka used her quirk during the cavalry challenge and they were all fine. uraraka came up with the best strategy available
Definitely feel like a character shouldn't have to "win" to get MVP - even sometimes when you lose, if you make an impact to others then you can be seen as a Hero. Though it really matters how they are defeated then.
Uraraka (along with Kirishima) is one of the only people who Bakugo doesn't call by a degrading nickname, even now in the latest season Wait I'm noticing now that some comments are over a month old. How far ahead are they? Anyway, Monoma analyzing the battle cemented him in my top 5 favourites back when I watched it for the first time, I already liked him then, and he only got better for me despite the low screentime
Watching this episode remembering what a great character Uraraka could have developed into but they made her all about crushing on Deku. Which isnt bad i ship them too. I just wish they continued this storyline of her
Deku’s “super well thought out” plan for Uraraka, use her quick on Bakugo… wow. Lol (though his plan wouldn’t even work…he can control himself in the air with his explosions)
It's not that easy, in my opinion. When he flies with his explosives, he uses gravity to slow down and change his momentum. If there is no gravity, he has to be careful not to speed himself too fast out of control. I've you seen NASA satelites the fire in both directions. Just use a bit more on one side. Let's say they want to relocate something they will shoot 10% left 5% right, and when the place is right, they will shoot another 5% right side to finally stop. I'm not saying he couldn't do it, but it would have been hard for him
Obviously you’ve watch 2x10 already so you know but ya quirks are part of the body so they have physical limitations which is a great self nerf on things!

"she is meeee, I'm her" I relate to both of you Carlie I really do 🤣🤣 can't wait to the next ep reaction!!
regarding the hero of the episode part, it doesnt *have* to be someone that won a fight, it can just be someone that did something cool, or that stands out
Bakugo is angry but he is very intelligent and doesn't make the same mistake twice. He adapts very quickly but he his down side is that his ego is massive and it hurts him emotionally when that ego gets a reality check
Bro is getting all the reality checks he missed out on for the first 14 years of his life 💔 thankfully, he has infinite drive.
Big brain Carlie!!
Spy Family movie and this?! We eating good today!
Im waiting for next 🔥🔥🔥
i know you already seen it but YA’LL AINT READY
9:49 This ost becomes so important later kind of its wild in my opinion
carlie killed it this episode with the observations! and starting to ship kacchako LMAO that was me too
A lot of other people in the comments have said similar, but this was the 1st episode in this anime where I gave a lot of props to Bakugo. He wasn't complacent at all with Ochako and went all in against her which shows the level of respect he had for her that the crowd and even some of class A clearly lacked. Was also cool that Aizawa and surprisingly Monoma seemed to have that same level of respect
Next episode gonna be one of the best episode in the show
You guys are not ready for what going to come in season 6 and 7...The craziest moments and the hypest moments ever...Also The Greatest Character redemption in All Of Anime.Squeeze Your Buttocks!!!❤❤❤
Uraraka did so much better than I thought she would have done and that scene with deku and endeavor was amazing I loved that deku cared about shoto
1 ep left 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh man, the next episode.... :)
round face is nasty work 🤣🤣
I can't wait to see the next one 🫠🫠🫠
Guys Monoma was calling Mic an idiot for not noticing the rocks
bakugo is just really really rough. cant wait for yalls next two episodes and how they go.
Guys, remember that Quirks are a physical thing mainly, of the body. Even the ones that include mental stuff.
As with everything, you can train it, improve it, and grow it stronger. But, as you said, overexerting when you haven’t trained enough will hit you, like Bakugo with that super move
Loved the kacchako moment ❤😂
Big brain Carlie.😊
Sickening!!
Endeavor was kind and respectful to Midoriya. Even apologized to him for bothering him.
Endeavor’s an interesting character because even at his worst his public persona as a pro hero is air tight.
If Shoto hadn’t told us his backstory we probably never would have known Endeavor was anything but All Might’s slightly belligerent rival
next eps we're gonna see Charlie Crying again :)
Aizawa should be MVP
Bro, Carlie is Uraraka IRL, goddamn gurl xd
This episode made me love bakugou even more dawg. Despite Uraraka being a girl and everyone underestimating her, he doesn’t gaf and goes just as hard and doesn’t go easy on her bc he believes she’s strong and earned her place there against him. He was fully ready to fight her and not let up despite everyone else thinking she was a “frail girl”
Also mineta straight up asking if he was gay bro “bakugou don’t tell me your taste runs in that direction” like bro even MINETA could tell😭🙏🙏
5:20 Uraraka yelling "I'M GONNA WIN!" gets me every single time. Even tho I know she didn't win, that battlecry gives me the chills
monoma was calling the pro an idiot. he said that it made sense that bakugo didnt notice cuz he is in the arena but the audience were dumb for not noticing
yes! Bakugo finally gets MVP!
Just in general i think you guys catch so many more little details than others while still gettijg just as hype
I don't think ive ever seen anyone else notice that Bakugo used Urarakas name, and very few catch on the the floating rock plan before the reveal
I do hope yall realize Monoma wasnt calling Bakugo the idiot though lol
I loved that fght
I LOVE MONOMA I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL
"Doesn't matter she a hero" 🤓
Baguko is my fav character
First Zutara now Kacchako, Carlie is gonna get her shipping license revoked.
Nah you're not a true shipper unless you have ships that aren't canon 😂
Nah she's gonna get her shipper license upgraded to pro
Real Shippers doesn't care about canon or fanon
Hermione/Draco, Zutara and now an offhanded Bakugo/Uraraka ship. Carlie is based af
Give us the damn deku vs todoroki right now! 😅😂
i think dekus plan of flawed to begin with. touching bakugo wouldnt just send him flying, in fact it would help him so much more given that hes already shown to have great arial control. uraraka used her quirk during the cavalry challenge and they were all fine. uraraka came up with the best strategy available
It's so silly too, like that's not even a plan 😅 "her strategy should be to touch him and activate her quirk" oh wow, you don't say.
Definitely feel like a character shouldn't have to "win" to get MVP - even sometimes when you lose, if you make an impact to others then you can be seen as a Hero. Though it really matters how they are defeated then.
Bakugo is the best character in MHA idc
better not another joke
Uraraka (along with Kirishima) is one of the only people who Bakugo doesn't call by a degrading nickname, even now in the latest season
Wait I'm noticing now that some comments are over a month old. How far ahead are they?
Anyway, Monoma analyzing the battle cemented him in my top 5 favourites back when I watched it for the first time, I already liked him then, and he only got better for me despite the low screentime
yessssssss
Watching this episode remembering what a great character Uraraka could have developed into but they made her all about crushing on Deku. Which isnt bad i ship them too. I just wish they continued this storyline of her
Carlie’s smart
待ってたぜ
Bakugo treated Uraraka as an equal and a rival.
I'm not saying he couldn't do it, but it would have been hard for him
Er....that's not how gravity works lmfao
@@redflagy8 not really, its anime.
@@flowy3422 So what?
I think you should react to dota dragons blood so everyone please get this comment noticed
Obviously you’ve watch 2x10 already so you know but ya quirks are part of the body so they have physical limitations which is a great self nerf on things!
