As flawed mom I can say I'm still on Shoto's side 100% on trying to speak with mom. What he is doing, is trying to start a converstation so it's easier for her to apologize and help to build better family relations. She snapped under stress and did such harm to him that there's no way she would seek him out to spare further pain. She must be thinking that she was the evil in this relationship and by avoiding the family, everything would be proper.
I really love this episode because it's so realistic that tromas don't instantly go that fast, it have some process.
I like how each character out of "big three" gets to win one of the rounds so everyone gets an appropriate amount of spotlight.
Also, the muzzle on Bakugo kills me every time lmao 🤣🤣

13:27 he doesn't hate her, otherwise he wouldn't want to use his ice side either, he completely understands how much she suffered (doesn't make it right of course but he doesn't blame her at all) besides, from what I understand she isn't allowed to leave the hospital, mental hospital after burning Todoroki, so if he never went then of course there is little she could do
BTW I think I saw somewhere that Bakugo is also a hot head because of his quirk, the explanation is chemical which I don't understand, but it would be like Deku fights while hurting himself because of his quirk, Bakugo has strong emotions because his quirk constantly makes his body react that way (like I said I don't really remember so I can't explain it well and I don't even recall if it's a fandom cannon thing or it's said somwhere but I like it either way)
Bakugo yelling "die" at the germs is one of my favorite moments in the series

You know when you have those mashup reactions of all the different react youtubers reacting to moments or episodes, everyone else is just chill. People will think they've got the wrong reaction from you, screaming like that hahaha. If I'm ever watching something scary it almost never makes me jump, but I always jump when someone screams or gets scared suddenly. Surprised Ange didn't jump from Carlie's reaction.

when Endeavor said he "put her in the hospital" he meant that he had her comitted to a mental institution, not that he beat her to a pulp. hopefully that also makes it clear that she didn't burn Shoto out of malice. she simply cracked after years of living in an abusive relationship.

I love how you guys caught that Todoroki's shift wasn't immediate and the reason behind it. Also I'm with Carlie on the fact that the mom should have the onus to fix their relationship, but yeah I don't think she can leave the hospital. So it's def a very complicated situation.
Also I love how well y'all get Bakugo's motivation. One line of his that doesn't get much of a reaction from most reactors I've watched is the Even if the world accepts it, if I don't accept it myself it's worth nothing.

I think Todoroki understands that his mother was mentally broken (something like this could happen in real life to someone with PTSD or post-partum psychosis and it doesn't mean that the mother doesn't love the child but, without treatment, she's just not all there) at the time. But yes, she would still need to apologize and make amends!

One thing I have seen people mistake about Bakugo is that there is a tendency to think his emotions make him use his brains less in battle. That's not true. Bakugo is a character who is always angry, but his fighting instincts are so good, those emotions don't really impair his ability to think with his wits in a fight. This is not a character type you usually see in stories so that's why a lot of people think Bakugo is just a hothead who acts without thinking.

Todoroki's mom is in a mental hospital. While she did suffer abuse from Endeavor, he didn't "send her to the hospital" by harming her. He got her put in a mental institution. IDK why it was written to be vague like that.
usually you want heart rate monitors for horror reactions, but it seems like we could benefit from it in MHA reactions, too ;)

To be fair to Carlie, the scene was intentionally painted in a scary light and even Uraraka was scared. I don't find the reaction to be unwarranted. Still funny though 😂
I'm not gonna lie, I jumped aswell the first time watching her parents. For me it was the moment of trying to figure out what the red eyes were and them starting to move so suddenly but it seems like Carlie sensed danger as soon as the red eyes appeared haha

Bakugo is easily the better fighter of the two. Sure Shoto didn’t use his fire but Bakugo was trying to get Shoto to use it.

Todoroki’s mom is hard to appreciate her because she’s has gone through it with her husband but her trauma is causing her to not have a good relationship with her kids it reminds me from a alcoholic parent that has gone through horrible things and because of their trauma they are causing their kids to bear they’re trauma instead of keeping them away from it and protect them from what they learn idk doesn’t sit right with me

Im kinda surprised at Carlie. She's literally showing no empathy whatsoever towards Shoto's mom. Like she has a mountain of trauma. Why are you completely ignoring that and criticizing her for not trying to fix the relationship with Shoto?? Who knows what kind of mental state shes in?? And in this case it is on Shoto to fix it because he cant afford to wait around for her. He needs this resolved now.

I completely agree with carlie though shoto should not hold that responsibility as a kid to go fix the relationship between him and his mom as a parent you should be the one seeking your child for one fixing the relationship because you love your kid and for to a parent should never make a child bear that family responsibility at a young age let’s be honest her mom and dad are not playing good roles as parents at all i would not go out seeking to fix things with them even though todoroki isn’t doing it out of responsibility he’s doing it because he wants a better relationship with his mom but it’s just not a good example as a parent
Yeah let's make a point and at the same time have zero empathy for a woman with endless amounts of trauma. Yes it shouldn't be on Shoto for being the one to try and fix his relationship but in this situation you're gonna really criticize his mom?? She hasn't left that hospital since the day she was committed. Shoto has to get this fixed because he can't perform at the highest level until he gets his head straight.

@AcedOnez why do you think Shoto isn't doing this for himself?? Shoto is doing this because he realizes he can't succeed without using his right side. He has to talk to his mom for that to happen. That's far more the reason than him feeling any level of responsibility. Besides that you saying she's not setting a good example, is absolutely you criticizing her! My point is you can't just compare her to other parents because of the mountain of trauma she's dealing with. That right there has to change your perspective. You don't know if she could function normally outside of the hospital, how can I expect her to fix a complicated issue with her son??
Shoto going to go visit him mom always tears me up. Yeah she was put in a mental hospital, endeavor definitely physically abused his family but he didn't send his wife to the hospital by beating her in that instance. The entire todoroki family story connects with me as someone who's grown up with an abusive parent, and with all of my immediate family struggling with mental illness.
