A smart one. Dan has ruined alot of peoples spots. He has basically been selling out and grifting public land hunters for years. What comes around goes around. I use to be a fan until I realized he is full of hot air. He sells it well but actions speak louder than words.
Jacob, with predominant south/ west wind in that area, do u notice the best sign on north /east sides of islands?. Are the cluster rubs bedding, or staging where they enter mainland.? you're beastie enough to answer this without Dan....
Typically it’s predominantly West and then more NW later in the season as things get colder but I would say I don’t see a crazy strong correlation with this. It’s much harder to hunt points/the sides of islands that point in the typical downwind direction (eastward) because the deer typically have a scent monitor on where pressure comes from. I’ve found more mature bucks to use those leeward points more frequently than just anywhere. But, their bedding isn’t always wind based in marshes like that, so they typically elect for the best cover/least human trafficked area. The clusters of rubs are typically in staging but you have to look at the rubs and ask yourself why they’re being made there. Are the rubs amongst a tangle that a buck can’t travel through (like being made in the bed) or are they along a trail that leads from bed to food? Are they on the outskirts of thick cover/doe bedding where the does hold up so they aren’t disturbed when in heat? Are the rubs very aggressive or just a plain mark of travel? All those things can help you determine when and why the rubs are made. I hope that helps! Let me know if you’d like any more clarification or shoot me a message to ask more!
I see a correlation between mature buck bedding and leeward points/sides in the hills and in the marshes, but the sign in the bedding doesn’t always reflect that a big buck uses it constantly. It may just be one tall rub and a 5 year old could be calling it home year round. But in a 2.5-3.5 year olds bedding area I’ve often seen a lot of torn up rubs. Sign doesn’t always equal bucks, so make sure the question you ask yourself most often is “Why”. The harder it is for you to answer the “how” you’re going to kill him in this bed, the more likely it is to be a mature buck
Thanks! Answering that how is almost as thrilling as the kill itself. I wake up in the middle of the night and say that's it.. that's how I could kill him! Using beast tactics and the science behind how mature bucks move has helped me tremendously
Thanks for sharing this fantastic discussion!
Of course! Thank you for the support!!
Appreciate the map overlays. Great video as usual man. Keep em coming!
Thanks Jimmy!! Appreciate your support!!
What kind of shyster goes to one of these workshops and proceeds to hunt that very spot? Unreal
Couldn’t tell ya! I will say it’s the kind of guy I wouldn’t hunt with tho lol
That’s the bs that gives me the redass and makes me not want to help people out bowhunting ! It’s ridiculous

I especially enjoyed the sniffing. Lol
Would have certainly been nice to not have a cold 😂
Support from Southern Indiana.
Much appreciated 👊🏼
Is there video of me falling through the ice?
Unfortunately I did not capture that. It’s the complete question session and breakdown of the spot
So question is on the map at the beginning how close to the road? I. Have a spot I just found the deer get pushed within 20 yards of the road.
We are about 50-60 yards from the road
