The Wild Calling
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 ก.ค. 2022
We've all got something deep down inside that defines us. Some may call it a hobby, some call it a passion, but to the rare few it's much deeper than that. It's a purpose, an innate drive, the reason we are who we are. If you took this purpose away, we'd be lost; a shadow of our former selves, and a shell of what we once were. For the rare few, this calling is their identity.
My name is Jacob Sklenar and I was born to be in the outdoors. I was born to help and guide others to experiencing my purpose. I was born to be wild. This is my life. This is my journey. This is my wild calling.

@@thomasn8213 thank you!!
so how do you hunt this? i have pics of bucks 30 mins before sunrise and 30 mins after dark coming out of this stuff with mud up to their elbows
Sometimes you gotta get in there with em on a high wind day. Every situation is different, but if you can’t catch them exiting/entering, you’ll have to catch them within it.
Dam straight excellent content. Much more of this stuff and whitetails will end up on the endangered species list. Thank much!

Almost anyone else, shoot. But if you have regular trail camera pictures and intel of bigger bucks in the area, it makes it tough to take a smaller buck prior to the peak rut phase. Great footage of the encounter and good luck pursuing your target buck!

Man, I’ve watched this videos wayyy too many times. I’ve watched to your E scouting video, and listened to your podcast with Jake after this hunt, and recently watched that hour long hill country masterclass podcast with Jake. Twice, lol. I’m determined to learn the hills of Ohio. This is my year hunting them!

@@Nolan_Quast certainly a great story of perseverance that inspires me to sit back and count the blessings I have. Very thankful to have the privilege of sharing it with
Lose the music please. What hunter’s hears that junk in the woods. You are becoming one of those.
@@sammypoole7431 I use the music to mimic my emotions during the hunt. The goal of these videos isn’t to take you along on a hunt, then I’d just live stream every hunt I do. I don’t think this video and the message it sends is any bit of similar to any video out there so I don’t think it’s fair to say I’m “becoming one of those”. Would you also like me to remove the way every clip is clarified and zoomed in? Would you like me to remove the color correction? Would you like me to leave my voice at an inaudible whisper? If you’d like to experience the outdoors pure and unedited, go out there and hunt! Nothing can replace or mimic that. No way my footage could do God’s creation justice.
You'll laugh about it one day....one day lol

Unfortunate outcome with the deer but man what a great story and lesson there. Video edit was top notch, great job!
@@BarefootDave_ thank you so much Dave! I should send you some of the raw footage. It’s absolutely insane the amount of color and clarity editing I did. Most of them you can barely tell there’s a deer there
@@JacobSklenarTheWildCalling you got into color grading!? That’s next level dude! Definitely want to pick your brain about that
@@BarefootDave_ I’m not great at it 😂 but I’m good at editing color to improve the quality of the image. Using certain colors to improve the contrast and clarity helps a ton with phone skope footage

The pic of Ty in a wheelchair with a limit of ducks is powerful for me! Great vid
@@americanagothic7851 same here!! Makes me think the excuses I’ve made for failing are awfully lame
@@JacobSklenarTheWildCalling lol, exactly what I thought
Great hunting footage, visuals, audio, and story. It’s always important to keep in mind the perspective of the situation. It’s obvious you prepare and train year round to put yourself in the position to harvest a mature buck. When things don’t according to plan, it’s easy to dwell on the negatives but there’s always someone else who has a situation that’s worse than yours. This story is a reminder that it’s not always about the result and to never take anything for granted.
@@schmitzfarmandoutdoors absolutely agreed Max. A lot of the lessons we learned as teammates at UWP have carried into our every day lives. I’m very thankful for the perspective Coach DeRohen taught us
