“the new music” was a religious experience for 12 year old me sometimes .... and bravo to them for using canada’s best band ever for the intro music 👍👍🇨🇦
Wow! This brings me back!! I moved to Toronto in November of '78 so I'd be watching this on my Admiral 12" black & white set in my first apartment! Thanks for the memory!
I used to watch this on my old black and white. Working at Woolco, buying 45 records and riding my old Yamaha. I really wish I could go back in time for a visit.
The first use of the word "supergroup" I ever heard was when it was applied to Blind Faith in 1969. The original meaning of "supergroup" would NOT have included Led Zep, Stones, Who, Pink Floyd, Queen, or The Beatles. Because "supergroup" meant a band made up of members who had previously been in a number various OTHER famous bands. Blind Faith's members were from Cream, Traffic, & Family. That made Blind Faith a supergroup. None of the other bands mentioned here qualify 'cause "supergroup" did not mean "mega selling & famous for years." It had a different meaning that got twisted and perverted, as we can read and hear above.
@@Bobjb999 Even when this was filmed most people didn't use the term for bands like Zep. In fact the term was often used as a vague insult, implying a band was less than the sum of its parts.
I think the word supergroup is being used loosely not literally (as Hermesacat's reply to you about the meaning of 'supergroup' is correct). And I think the point of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Who surviving the '70s is that they were formed AND became popular in the '60s and still remained popular in the '70s, whereas Queen and Pink Floyd (even if formed in the '60s) did not become popular and commercially successful until early-to-mid '70s (Jeanne Beker wouldn't disrespect those bands, at least not on purpose imo, but she is being factual). And for the record: I'm still a huge fan of ALL of five of those bands, plus the Ramones etc.
Take me back to those days please

Best artist from Canada was Robin Sparkles

They both did well in their careers. Good on them.
Propaganda pays well
We lost JD he went to the dark side.

Those lengthy leopard gloves are some Queen-level apparel, lemme say

I've always been a big fan of Jeanne Beker
Me 2
The New Music was a trail blazer for Canadian Bands.......I remember watching it anytime I can......shame JD is now affiliated with Fox News!
Toronto the clean
wow that brings back memories
That thumbnail, I had completely forgotten about A&A Records!
awesomeee. now hes on fox news. If you can find some Laurie brown and denise donlon. Hell even Fashion Television. yummmy
1979: JD Roberts of CityTV.
2021: John Roberts of Fox News.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, good for him.
But he's way too articulate and down to Earth to 'make it' as 'pundit' on foxnews.
It's wild how y'all excuse anything that pays well @@leafyutube
That's an inaccurate assessment, there's no barometer for articulateness- it's the willing to spew propaganda @@sujoyteslesl
@@seewhativescene Who said Fox is "propaganda"? CNN? MSNBC? LMAO
Jeannie Beker Was HOT In That Dress
OMG!
Ms. Beker...'nuff said.
Freakin' Spectacular!
"Only three supergroups survived the decade, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and The Who." Uh, ever heard of Queen and Pink Floyd?

Papa’s Got a Brand New Pigbag.
Pre Much Music right?
Yup.. About 4.5 years before MM 😎
Long before MTV.
back when 'john' was cool!
Video disc already appear in 1979 ???. I thought it is betamax video magnetic tape.
And now JD Roberts is pumping conspiracy theories on Fox News. What a joke he's become.
He's always been a joke, all he did was refine his gimmick aligning with fox propaganda to maximize his earning potential
Yo but why does he have hair like David Cassidy on the Partridge Family 🤣
yo.. wait 15 years then look at YOUR selfies then, yo
Yo, because it was 1979.
Interesting , why do men age gracefully? no compliments , John Roberts and a lot of celebrities do look much better when older
