Hearing the music for Ivor the Engine almost made me cry.....I was at primary school in the 1970s........it was always shown around 5.30 at teatime with my mum next door cooking and my dad on his way home from work.....Special times long gone

A lot of what made them special seems to be missing in today's world. Nowadays, all kids seem to care about is their visual image. Times were so much simpler back then!
Seeing things like this gives me such a longing for a childhood that will never return. The yearning for those carefree days is an almost physical ache.

Having phones and computers doesn't stop any of the things you mentioned unless you let them - also, you can even chat to each other while on your phones and computers, and meet each other halfway. Either way, with or without them, family time still exists.

Ha yes I remember just having 3 channels, even with just 3 there was good programs, remember double bill of sat night Hammer House of Horror, lost in space, space 1999 and more. I’m stood making brunch at the age of 48, I instantly feel a kid again. Thank you. It’s funny how some of the old kids programs were a cover for something, like captain pugwash was about sex. The magic roundabout was about drugs haha The Thames intro was also part of my childhood and also the closing of the channel haha
i agree you feel sad for your lost childhood and want to cry, watching back makes you feel where did the TIME GO??loved many programs, and today well what about today 2022 the kids have lost so much intuitive imagination it is all there, without them needing to imagine smh x from a sixties kid to a sixty-year-old x
I used to love all of these Black Beauty, Pugwash, Metal Mickey, Monkey, Batman, Pink Panther, Rentaghost, wonder woman, super ted, Incredible Hulk etc. Life was a lot simpler and happier back then in many ways.
Did anyone else just find themselfs just singing along to most of these great tunes from our childhoods, we were so young but can have total recall just in a split second.
Fantastic, great montage. The Flumps, Let's Pretend and Dangermouse were possibly my top 3 out of these. I looked for Let's Pretend before without much luck so the tiny clip here was a nice bit of nostalgia, thanks!
That Thames TV logo, saw it a million times as a kid, and I was disappointed, and felt slightly led astray, when i came to London from NZ, and found out Big Ben, St Pauls and the Tower Bridge weren't within a couple of hundred feet of each other. :-)))
And there I was, looking for Monkey Magic and then found this. Thanks for putting together all these openings of long forgotten series. It brought back a lot of flashbacks from over 40 years ago when I was a wee lad.. it certainly activated a few areas in the brain that have not been touched for a very long time. Btw, anyone who thinks Tomorrow’s World was not for children. I used to watch it with my Dad every week. It’s no wonder that I still love science and gadgets
Moneky Magic. Still cracks me up! I also remember a programme called "Nightmare " . They had a helmet which blinded them and going around a castle with help from member of theyre team

God Bless,,! An old guy , that watching this as my fav, every Friday when am haven a whisky,! 🥃 ,
We got at least 75% of these programmes here in NZ, this was a real blast from the past. :-)
I’m stood making brunch at the age of 48, I instantly feel a kid again. Thank you.
It’s funny how some of the old kids programs were a cover for something, like captain pugwash was about sex. The magic roundabout was about drugs haha
The Thames intro was also part of my childhood and also the closing of the channel haha
Remember when the the best part of the day was getting home from school to watch cartoons!!! ☺️☺️☺️
Jackanory
@@jaynestag95 Sorry Jayne. Jackanory and Rentaghost had me changing channels. For anything else. Anything!
That Thames logo gets me so nostalgic.

Absolutely. Teared up. Just a great time.
Growing up in England,it brings back a lot of memories watching all these intros to shows that I like to watch!!
Half of that was my childhood right there. Best years of my life.
yep i agree with that. I used to love Multi coloured swap shop! Used to watch that every Saturday morning :)
Makes me cry a little bit with memories
i agree you feel sad for your lost childhood and want to cry, watching back makes you feel where did the TIME GO??loved many programs, and today well what about today 2022 the kids have lost so much intuitive imagination it is all there, without them needing to imagine smh x from a sixties kid to a sixty-year-old x
Many childhood memories here instantly recognisable theme tunes although I haven't heard or thought of them for decades, thanks for reminding me.
That Black Beauty theme actually brought tear to my eye..
Do you remember " White Horses " That's on here aswel lol .....
Me too. A gorgeous piece of music and fabulous programme. Where are all these classics now and why are they never repeated?
I used to love all of these Black Beauty, Pugwash, Metal Mickey, Monkey, Batman, Pink Panther, Rentaghost, wonder woman, super ted, Incredible Hulk etc. Life was a lot simpler and happier back then in many ways.
Rentaghost 👍 pink panther 👍o my happy days
Did anyone else just find themselfs just singing along to most of these great tunes from our childhoods, we were so young but can have total recall just in a split second.
That was lovely, so many great memories for me, thank you for that.
My god! Took me right back! Last time I actually felt happy.
Fantastic, great montage. The Flumps, Let's Pretend and Dangermouse were possibly my top 3 out of these. I looked for Let's Pretend before without much luck so the tiny clip here was a nice bit of nostalgia, thanks!
The Black Beauty theme tune always makes me cry. It's so beautiful.

The 'Black Beauty' theme music gets me a bit emotional for some reason.
Always does the same to me too!
Please take me back to the good times.
memories of my childhood growing up in the 1970,s that Thames tv intro brings memories flooding back, along with London weekend television.
