Luang Phrabang reminds me of Chiangmai of 60 years ago! Thais and Laotians are brothers, sharing the same Religion, culture and genes. Many Thais in the northern region of Thailand are of Lao heritage. Enjoy your journey!

I’m great that you guys like to try Lao food. I’m Lao, who live far away, but always craving for Lao food. My favorite Lao foods are: 1. beef jerky, 2. AwLarm or beef stew that you had it. 3. Larp can be make from beef, fish, or pork. 4. Sy-Oual or Sy-Kar is same as Sausage, but Lao style. 5. Grill chicken.

I spent C-19 lockdown in Luang Prabang...such a charming/relaxing place and as you pointed out, there aren't any large commercial signs or retail chains, which was so nice. That soup you had is a Luang Prabang specialty called 'Or Lam' cooked with pieces of pepper wood (sakhaan). Nice video and happy travels!
Loving the Lao videos!. You'll have to try the noodle soups, Khao Peuk sin and Khao poon (probably can get vegetarian versions too) and with sticky rice eat in dipping sauces called Jeow Mak Len (tomato salsa) or Jeow Het (mushroom dip) also you usually eat Sticky rice with your hands, kinda like dipping Naan bread in butter chicken. Won't say you guys ate it wrong, but normally you'd take a piece of the stick rice, kinda roll it between your thumb and finger and use it to kind of scoop some food and eat it.
Luang Prabang is truly lovely. And we Thais ever have an affection for our brothers in Laos. An incident at a restaurant amused me. A group of Thai tourists looking the menu asked "what, you don't have fresh oysters?" . Yeah sure land-locked Laos is famous for its fresh oysters.
😝😝😝 I am a retired bartender in Arizona, so ANY seafood is FROZEN! Customers would ask-is it fresh😳😳😳 I’d respond ‘Do you SEE an ocean here-middle of the dessert! Lol people are so silly!🙏🏻❤️❤️😝
I heard the city is slow, but it looks veeeerrrrryyy sloooow. The pork stew is called “Or Lam.” And yes, Laotians eat sticky rice with everything. Wash your hands and then grab a bite size. Squeeze it into a ball like you would play dough, then use the ball to pinch it with whatever you’re eating. Treat it like naan or tortilla - meant to eat with your fingers. Awesome video!
Loved this so much, I visited in 2015 and it still looks so similar! Not sure if it’s still there but the Viewpoint Restaurant was such a good place to get a coffee and watch the slowboats drifting down the Mekong. Have an amazing time 💕
I am Lao but I have never been to Laung prabang yet. However, I really enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you so much for visiting 🇱🇦. I hope you have a great time there. Welcome to my country ❤️ 😊

Great to see you guys enjoying your trip in LP. By the way, glutinous rice is a staple in LP, it’s supposed to keep your stomach full longer compared to normal rice. Once cooked it can be kept and you can eat it over several days. Enjoy Laos
It really does have a great vibe. You're going to love exploring the surrounding area on the scooter. If you get a chance go see the cave of the broken Buddha's Its where locals take their broken Buddha, Where it can still protect from the river dragon or something like that A small but very unique sight.
The rice donut shaped like a butterfly is actually called YouTiao. Some countries use them as toppings with their porridge and some dip them in their drinks like coffee or Soy Bean Milk. I guess most Asian countries share similar styles of dishes..
You can try som-tum-LuangPraBang. It is similar to Thai papaya salad but the papaya would be cut in the shape of wide noodle --- and of course with pra-ra (fermented fush) 😁
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for this video of home Luang Prabang. I've been waiting in Siem Reap, Cambodia for 2.5 years to return and had a flight scheduled for TOMORROW, but found a fantastic doctor and wish to continue medical care here and will be continuing on to Tbong Khum Province, Cambodia to teach a bit with little kids in a remote village. Looks like I'll be back to visit Luang Prabang in February! I spent most of my time during this video pointing out memories and flavors of home to my friend. Looks like you hit all the right places! Thanks for your enjoyable tour of home Luang Prabang. I think you've left by now, but if you're still in LPB, be sure to stop by Big Brother Mouse to give some local students and others the opportunity to practice their English around the corner from Three Nagas Hotel. They're often also atop Phousi Hill for sunset!
Oh wow!! Glad to hear you found good treatment and have decided to delay your trip for good reason!! 🤗 hope you enjoy your visit in February 🇱🇦 we have indeed left by now but thank you for the recommendations nonetheless!!
Hi I'm Lao but living in down under , I'm so happy that you enjoying LP, I had a chance to visit awhile ago .. is still as beautiful as I remember. If you after authentic Lp food , you can try going the lane where they sell food in night market. Must try the local grilled fish with LP somtum , sausages , pork jerky , grilled chicken with herbs. There Luang Prabang salad you can try as well is make with egg dressing vinegar fish toses with lettuce tomatoes shallot n cooked egg . Thanks for sharing my favourite Lao city .
Hey there glad to see you guys are enjoying Luang Prabang Laos beautiful place the food look yummy I’m Thai grown up in Nong Kai it’s right cross from Vientiane Lao about the Laos food it’s very much like The Thai Esane food and we eat sticky rice with all of our food lol also most the Lao food are cook with lots of herbs and vegetables they are also pretty spicy it is an acquired taste for some looking forward to seeing your journey through Laos
INVU both eating Pa Tong Ko with condensed milk coffee. My favorite too. In deed, we usually dip Pa Tong Ko into coffee, that seems to create another taste of eating boran, ancient, coffee. Enjoy your trip guys! I went to Luang Pra Bang 5 yrs ago and look forward to visiting it again in a couple months.
I had an amazing experience here in 2003. I stayed at a place for 90 pence a night! Wonderful people who insisted I ate with them for free also as the power was shut down in the city from 9pm in those days. Progress is inevitable but I hope it doesn't lose its soul to tourists, like so many other places I have visited.
Such a beautiful city. I think I enjoyed my time there more than Vientiane, or Vang Vieng. The Gibbon Experience in Huay Xai was my favorite thing, but there is so much peace and beauty in Luang Prabang! I'm still in contact with three young people I tutored in Huay Xai after three years!
There are 2 types of shape for the dough. The chinese call the long or short dough 'yau char kway'. The round dough with red beans inside is called 'ham chin peng'. Usually people dip into coffee. In hong kong, people eat with porridge in the morning.
Love your video. We'll be heading to Luang and Vien Laos via Xishuang (China) in the next few weeks. The Patongo is literally a white sugar cake deep fried in oil can be eaten on its own as well as dipping into thick black coffee only (no milk) or with rice porridge. As for the currency notes, sometimes it can be a scam as many foreigners aren't familiar with the money and by the time you finish counting to the last note, the person whom you dealt with could have disappeared. You often end up with less notes or with some other fake notes added to the bundle. Good to carry lots of small notes with you or change big notes with reputable stores. Hope you both had good fun staying in Lao or Laos.
Oh man I remember walking up that hill. Brutal haha, especially in the midday heat. Worth it though, beautiful. Highlight for me though was definitely the waterfalls, magical place! Enjoy guys
That soup is called Gaeng Dor Mai. It's a very local Laotian dish! Glad you tried it out. You have to try Mee-Kha-Tee and Khao-Poon. If you like Khao Soi in Thailand, you would love these two Laotian noodle dishes! Khao Poon is on the spicier side depending on how it's being made since it is red curry based. Mee-Khat-Tee is not spicy as it is more coconut and a little red curry. You also need to go to the market and try sai oua. It's Laotian sausage. Also, the sticky rice is meant to eat with your hands. :) HAHA! Y'all so cute! :) You have to use your fingers, dig into the sticky rice, roll it into a small ball like a small snowball, then dip it into the dish that you are eating while grabbing a portion of the dish to eat it all at once -- almost like a very mini taco. Mee-Kha-Tee and Khao-Poon should not be eaten with sticky rice though. :) Unless the soup is THAT good and you wanna get every ounce of it. Then get sticky rice and clean the bowl out! LOL Have fun! Can't wait for more videos of you guys in Laos!
That’s amazing information, thank you!! 🤗 haha of course no sticky rice with a noodle dish - but hehe oops we didn’t realise we were meant to eat it with our hands! It always takes a little while to figure these things out 👀🤗thank you!
Kia had a great suggestion for Lao food, but the soup is not gaeng nor mai (bamboo soup), it's actually called Au Larm, which is one of the most popular dishes that Luang Pra Bang has to offer. For a vegetarian dish, you can try soup park.
@@vanhphonsiri2835 You're right!! I didn't see that it didn't include bamboo like Gaeng dor Mai. Thanks for the clarification! 😁 So there's ANOTHER dish y'all should eat! Gaeng Dor Mai!! 🥰🥰
@klor4682 thanks for sharing the 2 noodle dishes. I am a khao soi addict (I want to travel the north reviewing all the different khao soi stalls) so it sounds like I am going to love khao poon and mee-kha-tee. These can be the first words in Lao I teach myself to read! 😀
I never tried d sticky rice d way d Thai n Laos people have it, with savoury dishes. I had sticky rice with mango, that's quite lovely. D Malaysian like sticky rice too esp with their desserts. D Malay also like to have sticky rice with savoury dishes, like pulut kuning, a turmeric sticky rice, or ketupat palas, sticky rice in a triangular weaved pocket of palas leaf n cooked with coconut milk, or lemang, sticky rice n coconut milk stuffed in bamboo n cooked over wood fire. We have all that sticky rice with either beef or chicken rendang, curry, peanut sauce n also serunding, spicy meat floss. Well here I go again, rambling with some info that's not related to Laos.
great video as usual, would love to visit Laos. If you don’t mind me asking, have you thought about incorporating more of the local people in your videos. In many of these types of videos, the local people are cropped out of the shot. I think we would like to see an hear from local interactions
We tend not to just ‘film’ locals without their consent! If they appear on screen then that’s fine but we don’t stick the camera in their faces, as we want to just blend in and show our genuine experience 😍
Laos is Thai so you can use THB in Laos and Thai language can understand in Laos.Have a nice trip in Luangprabang.I hope you to explore Nakhonnayok province I think it's a heaven that I traveled many place and not far from BKK❤❤
So sorry I mean you can use THB if you don't have LK enough and you can order food in Thai language such as Black coffee you can speak in Thai that "Ka Fae Dum" they will understand.Several time I have visited LAOS many food such as "Fer" it's like noodle soup in Thai so we have a lot in common especially friendly and hospitality❤❤
Episode 2, whoop whoop 🥳 A lot off people in Laos understand and speak a little thia, they have a couple of words in common and use the same words that just mean different things, but you probably know by now 😉 Anyhow we love this, thanks for the series and your hard work, on to the next one, cheers 🙌🍻🍹
Aha of course! This is the one we went to: maps.app.goo.gl/zrZ26op3WiARimzg6?g_st=ic (that’s the Google map link!) it was super affordable and pretty big. Probably the best gym we found in Laos 🙃😀
ສະບາຍດິ🙏🏻sabaiidee welcomes to Laos, i would recommend Luangprabang food which called "Khao soy" not the same as thailand we also have our own khao soy and it's really good taste, don't miss out!
What a wonderfull city? I love Luang Prabang 💚... Guys, you can try the laotian Khao Soi, it´s totally different to the Thai one. Enjoy Laos, it´s amazing🌈.
You come to Laos, you can speak Thai, which is considered very good because almost all Lao people in the country can speak Thai. Because we are of the same race, the language is very similar. Welcome from Laos.🇱🇦🇱🇦
Love seeing you guys having great time here ❤️. Next time, when you come to any pagoda, not just in Laos, kindly wear suitable outfits or some spare clothes for a sacred place. That temple you came to is the pillar of light of Luang Prabang. The same as the Cathedral in the West. 🙏🏻
hello how u two been doing in lao are u enjoy your trip my home town but ilive in USA for many year very soon i will go back home by the way what countryu came from
Love your video so much! Luang Prabang is my favourite place to chill, I went there four times in 9 months even though I lived in Vientiane. Watching your video makes me want to go there again😭 Dylan’s food is called ’Oc larm’ btw that’s a real luang prabang local dish. I recommend to try the rice noodles that’s close to Joma bakery, the shop opens about 5pm and it’s superb for me hehehe basically pork stock and rice noodles with pork!!! And of course papaya salad, sticky rice, the deep fried river weed called ‘kai pan’ and a chili paste with buffalo skin ‘jeow bong’. Hope you enjoy your trip in Laos 💝
Btw it used to be full of shops on the main road but because of the pandemic. Also don’t forget to go to the morning market tbh 6am is a good time to go, there will be full of shops. And later ride a bicycle in the morning, it’s so chill and nice weather and not busy roads. I recommend a cafe called ‘Saffron’ coffee is good but just tell them less sweet cus sometimes it gets too sweet lol and also best bakery is at ‘Zurich Cafe’.👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much for the insight!! We went to saffron cafe (we did NOT tell them less sweet - because we love things ridiculously sweet 😂👀) thank you! It’s been such an amazing trip so far - we can see why you would miss it! So calm and beautiful 😍🇱🇦
Check out Phon Huang restaurant for the best spring rolls in town. You take a lettuce leaf, add glass noodles, spring roll, bean shoots, top it with peanut sauce, wrap it into a little parcel and pop it in your mouth whole! Lao style. We also recommend Toui's restaurant. Delicious food prepared with great heart

Thanks for sharing this wonderful video n for showing your day exploration in Laos.
Hahah we love your comments, full of information! Sticky rice goes well with anything - but mango the best haha
@@2Passports1Dream Hahaha. Yes, sticky rice with mango, lovely. Sticky rice with durian, for me yummy, for u guys, mango is definitely better. 😁
great video as usual, would love to visit Laos.
I spent a week at LP and loved every single min.
Thank you so much kha 🙏🏼🇹🇭❤️
Laos is Thai so you can use THB in Laos and Thai language can understand in Laos.Have a nice trip in Luangprabang.I hope you to explore Nakhonnayok province I think it's a heaven that I traveled many place and not far from BKK❤❤
Thank you very much!! We didn’t have any THB left but we know for next time if we come from Thailand again! 🤗🤗
For your information Laos is not Thai. We don't even speak the same language. Our food is also different.
Laos is Thai? What? Laos is Laos 😉....the language is similair.
Episode 2, whoop whoop 🥳
A lot off people in Laos understand and speak a little thia, they have a couple of words in common and use the same words that just mean different things, but you probably know by now 😉
Anyhow we love this, thanks for the series and your hard work, on to the next one, cheers 🙌🍻🍹
Hehe unfortunately our Thai is very basic so I don’t think they understood us so well 😂👀 thank you!
Im enjoyed watching your videos thank you for visiting lao❤
Hello I am lao and welcome to laos and enjoy your traveling in laos and be safe.
Thank you so much 🇱🇦❤️
Hope you're able to visit Kuang Si Waterfalls. It's the prettiest waterfall I've seen so far.
Our next video will be exploring the outskirts including the beautiful falls 😍🤗

Thank you for visiting Laos especially Luang Prabang.
Random question. You mentioned a gym! We'll be there for a few weeks so happy to receive your gym recommendation!
Aha of course! This is the one we went to: maps.app.goo.gl/zrZ26op3WiARimzg6?g_st=ic (that’s the Google map link!) it was super affordable and pretty big. Probably the best gym we found in Laos 🙃😀
@@2Passports1Dream thanks for taking the time to reply!
I love that I can still see the WOW! guy in this video 😂 Love your video so much from Thai Fan. Have a great time guys ❤

Thank you - we’ve had khao soy in Chiang mai before but never tried in in Laos!! Next time 🥰🤗
What a wonderfull city? I love Luang Prabang 💚... Guys, you can try the laotian Khao Soi, it´s totally different to the Thai one. Enjoy Laos, it´s amazing🌈.
It is so nice! Oh yea I've had one actually - very different!
Hope you travel to explore Cambodia 🇰🇭🇰🇭 soon .
We will 😍🤗
You come to Laos, you can speak Thai, which is considered very good because almost all Lao people in the country can speak Thai. Because we are of the same race, the language is very similar. Welcome from Laos.🇱🇦🇱🇦
Hehe our Thai is very basic! Thank you very much 🤗😍🇱🇦
เที้ยวใหสนุกนะครับ Fc. Thailand
Thank you so much 🙏🏼🇹🇭
Great video as always. Thanks.👍👍👍😍😍😍

Dillon's dish is call "Og! Lime". Luang Prabang tradition food. Try LDB, Laos Development Bank ATM. It has blue color. I never had problem using it.
Oh interesting!! Thank you 🤗 it was so delicious. Ah we will try that one - luckily we haven’t had a lot of problems since!
Yummy doughnuts. I prefer powder sugar with mine. Temple had amazing views. Enjoyed video
Thank you so much 🙂
Hello, i am staff from urbanite vientiane hotel🤩 i am so surpriced i have never known before that you guys is TH-camr wow💐💐
Hello! 🤗🤗 hehe thank you very much - we will be posting our Vientiane videos soon 👀❤️
@@2Passports1Dream can't wait to see it
lovely place and so green and tranquil. I bet a boat tour or ride would be fun. But you might be tired of the boat for a while!
We are all boated out for now 😂
Love seeing you guys having great time here ❤️.
Next time, when you come to any pagoda, not just in Laos, kindly wear suitable outfits or some spare clothes for a sacred place.
That temple you came to is the pillar of light of Luang Prabang.
The same as the Cathedral in the West.
🙏🏻
Thanks for the tips! ❤️❤️
hello how u two been doing in lao are u enjoy your trip my home town but ilive in USA for many year very soon i will go back home by the way what countryu came from
Hello! Thank you very much 😍🤗 we’ve really been enjoying this trip 🤗 we hope that you’re able to do it soon too!
I was born in Laos but grew up in America. You must try the Lao sausage with the Lao style papaya salad and sticky rice.
Oh yes definitely 😍😍 thank you for the recommendation!
Thank you very for visiting, we are welcome all 🥰
Thank you for having us!
Thanks for visit Laos
I recommend trying some bamboo soup or aohlam (traditional soup with pork).
That sounds great - thank you 🤗🤗
Nice sharing.
I keep forgetting to comment - your glasses look great! No need to worry. 🙂👍
Thank you so much!! 🤗
You are smart Farang!
Orlam is the name very traditional Lao food and one of my favorite
I like your couple, welcome to Laos more many times
Thank you ❤️
Check out Phon Huang restaurant for the best spring rolls in town. You take a lettuce leaf, add glass noodles, spring roll, bean shoots, top it with peanut sauce, wrap it into a little parcel and pop it in your mouth whole! Lao style. We also recommend Toui's restaurant. Delicious food prepared with great heart
Oh yes!!! 😍😍 that sounds absolutely fantastic! Thank you 🤗
Hello there, your soupy food is call Aw Lahm. The best authenic Luangprabang food. The proper way to eat sticky rice is to use your hand. Enjoy!
Thanks for the tips!
I love it❤️
❤️🤗
