My folks went to see him at a local honky tonk, of all places, and bought me his Greatest Hits cassette tape (from that time, of course). I’ve been an addict of his music ever since…..at least 40 years. When he died a part of me went with him. It’s 2024 and his music lives on with me. My kids know more about George Jones than they have a right. That makes me very proud
That's so awesome I first heard Jones walking home at age of 14 when a man on his Harley was blaring it on his stereo the song was Her Name Is didn't know it was Jones, I thought it was cool, then about 6 yrs later I heard a song on my radio after a hard day working on an oil rig in July of 1980 I was so tired and had me a glass of ice tea in my lawn chair outside listening to the radio a song came on and I didn't like it so I changed stations...30 mins later the song came on again and I said i'm too tired to change it again and I said to myself I will ignore it..But I didn't and after it played, I knew it was my song and that singer was my singer forever...It was The Possum and the song was He Stopped Loving Her Today..Met Jones in 2006 and got a picture...Now I can die happy lol...
I think Cash and Waylon thought George didn't much time left on this earth but The Ole Possum through alot of love came back strong God bless all his friends.....
50 years from now George Jones will still be considered one of the greatest singers in music. He lived the songs he sung, and even at his worst, he was the best.
This has to be a point when George was at his lowest . He looked gaunt . His voice still there but you can’t help but want to lend a hand to this man during this time.
This chilled my soul. Everybody on that stage no doubt thought this could be one of George’s last performances, including George. Cash looks at him the way you’d view a dead body. George’s eyes, Good Lord… It’s a funeral.
I watched this on a very big screen and wept. George looked like a dead man. Yes, god bless Johnny and Waylon. He would certainly have died without the love of his friends. I don’t know how a man could have looked as poor as he did and not die. Anorexic and snorting cocaine and drinking…so sad.
I think they could definitely relate to George because Waylon himself had a decades long cocaine habit and Johnny did pills and alcohol and they both came very close to death from that so they all went through the same thing
Simply tbe best.
Wow. Just wow.
Jones has the greatest voice of all time he just didn’t understand the game and didn’t want to live without Tammy we love and miss u jones rip ole boy
Happy 93rd heavenly birthday, George ❤️
Bless Brother George!

So sad to see George this way, he still sings great. God really watched over George. God wasn't ready for him yet. Glad he knew God before he passed

Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 Nancy and George
He asked GOD for help and GOD sent him "He Stopped Loving Her Today" and all of his friends and fans and last but not least NANCY.

In his book he said he was down to a half of hamburger every four days. That man was the greatest singer to ever grace this world!
@@youngcountry871 I read that too he survived on a half a hamburger and at one point living in his car...the greatest singer ever that he was!!!
I think they could definitely relate to George because Waylon himself had a decades long cocaine habit and Johnny did pills and alcohol and they both came very close to death from that so they all went through the same thing
