- Some automakers decided that it was a good idea to use cardboard for the backing material for your door cards.
Jeep was one of these manufacturers. Haha 👍
This video is universal for any door card you’re trying to replace and upgrade but in this video, I am replacing and upgrading the backing material for the door cards for my 1992 Jeep Cherokee XJ.
The backer material I am using is called coroplast - or corrugated plastic. This is a weatherproof material that is an excellent alternative to the cardboard which soaks up water gets moldy.

Thanks for making this video!
Jeff
Good question!
Nice job, glad to see others doing similar stuff to what I’m doing. I’ve been working on a ‘98 Laredo and am trying to figure out how to repair cracked/broken covering there. Have you tackled that? Great job, thanks! L Stokes
Thank you!!!!! I have done done that repair yet. I’ll have to check it out.
Checked mine out, unfortunately the armrest is part of the cover, will have to develop some kind of patch.
If it's just cracks you can try a flexible filler like a decorators caulk and find a colour matched vinyl dye to touch it up but you may struggle to get it to match the rest of the car, especially without priming of some kind
Hello, friend, can you recommend me a scanner? simple to be able to eliminate the errors of my jeep grand cherokee laredo 2004 Thanks
