    allendorf82 That's typical. Jeeps tend to use Chrysler transmission fluid in many of their transfer cases. You may want to double check with Chevy on your year,make and model to see what they recommend. Hope this helps you out.

    I refilled my 05 yukon after 52 ounces leaked out. It holds 64 ounces total. I ran out of auto trak fluid after 26 ounces and made a mix of 50/50 merc3 atf to 10w30 motor oil for the rest. So far so good.

    If the transfer case is making noise, then it will most likely need to be replaced at this point since the bearings were starved for fluid. If there is no noise and everything appears to be working correctly, you might be in the clear but you might have reduced the longevity of the transfer case as a whole by driving that long with that low of a fluid amount.

    I have a question. I Have a 2003 Silverado 4x4 with the 4x4 shifter in the floor. When I put the truck in 4x4 it engages but has a horrible popping and clicking sound coming from front end. I have recently replaced both cv axles and hubs. Do you guys think the problem is in the transfer case or have any ideas as what this could be?

      You are so right! Always remove the fill plug first. Any standard trans or transfer unit with a screw in fill plug should be removed first. Otherwise if you drain first and then can't get the fill plug out, you're in a bad situation.

    • @divelbiss36
      @divelbiss36 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In case you can’t get the full plug out. If you drain all the fluid out and can’t get the full plug out your kinda screwed for filling it up. It can be done but it’s a real bitch.

    If the fluid gets low will it whine in 4 wheel. I haven't had to drive with 4 wheel since last year. I engaged it and it whined. And took a while to go back it 2 wheel.

    I have a 95 Tahoe 4x4 has a small lift. When engaged in 4 low it feels like it slips out of 4 wheel drive when accelerated and the front tire lights on the shifter turn off also hard to turn in 4 low. It engages I feel it could it be low on oil in the transfer case?

    so crazy story, it snowed and I used 4x4 and it started jumping and nicking, took out of 4x4 and it started a grinding noise, well I admit I have neglected the trans case, I removed the drain cap, less then a pint came out, I thought yep there the trans case, all gone lol. however I put 2 quarts of transfer case fluid in it and the noise went away and it works wonderful... thank you.

    I have a 2000 Yukon. In every mode except 2HI and neutral my Yukon bucks and clunks like crazy. In 4HI it acts as if the engine is misfiring really bad (it's not) and I have to give it a lot of gas to keep moving. It's almost like the entire truck is being driven with the parking brake being applied and released very quickly. If I release my foot from the accelerator it comes to a stop quickly without the brakes being pushed at all. In 2HI, it's fine. Help please!

    So, I discovered a leak in my transfer case. It was only left with about 1/2 quart of fluid in the case. I drove for about 7 hours at highway speeds in this condition before I could make the fix and add the proper amount of fluid again.
    Do you think I did some irreversible harm to the gears in the case?
