  • We left for Florida for 2 weeks. After just a week there, my mother got a cold and we had her get tested and she was positive. After long discussions, we thought we better head home in case we got it too and couldn't drive home - this video is of our quick journey back home to Indiana.

    Its always good to have a backup driver, just in case something happens. Its always go to have the family learn how everything works and what is needed to get the H3-45 Prevost ready for a trip and how to hook up everything.

    I love how open the interior is without slides. You definitly get better fuel mileage then we do. We have a 2006 42' Monaco Dynasty. Towing the car we get 7.5 mpg. One thing I really like is that plastic cap over the air break. We have a kitten that is almost grown. She bounces everywhere. It scars me that she is going to deactivate the brakes during the night.

    Enjoyed your video and I hope you all stay well. Covid has stopped us from going south this year to Florida but next year we hope to return to spend our winter in Florida. Bye for now.

    I Have an older VanHool that I converted into in an RV because I couldn't find a bus or RV in my price range that had an actual Bunk Room for the kids or guests. I almost went with a Prevost but the bottom bays weren't tall enough to hold my motorcycle and adventure toys. I love how clean your bus is, inside and out and it looks like it drives like a dream. For your next trip I recommend getting the app GetUpside for fuel. you may have to go to a smaller gas station which can get a little tricky with cars in the way but totally worth it. saving $50+ for each tank isn't much at first but it adds up quickly. Hope your mom is doing better and glad you guys made it home safely.

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The TSD program saved me $113 on that fill up and I can find stations along my route - its just like gas buddy if you have ever used that.

    Great video, Ive had a used XLII (our is a used Hemphill star coach w/ three bunks for the kids and the cats) and I never have gotten to experience what you did from 10:00 till 13:45 (I have never been a passenger in my coach) We call our Prevost the Family Truckster, kids nowadays have no idea how fortunate they are to have one of these (or any RV) land behemoths for traveling , family is what its all about, spent may trips up and down I-75 to the Sunshine state, put a small spray of WD-40 or some type of silicone around the chrome bezel edge of your retractable AC cable so you don't fray that cord to much. At some point I need to consider trading for an H3-45 the bays are just huge

  • @qwiklok
    @qwiklok 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well I wanted to see what these busses are actually like on the highway, noise, ride, comfort level etc. I was surprised at the noise level at the rear, I thought it would have been much quieter - maybe it was the microphone picking it up. The stereo sound was excellent. The ride seems so smooth - like floating on air - actually, it is!!! I was also surprised the tag wheel did not lift during that tight corner to save rubber.
    Wifey poo wasn't too thrilled. I think it might be qood idea to have her taught by a professional for 3-4 hours. She would learn a great deal, be far more comfortable and enjoy the ride more. I only suspect that leaving was not an enjoyable moment and was sad.
    At the end of the day, is it really worth owning a bus? This is a huge investment - your thoughts . . .

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah - the very back is a little noisy - but figuring it has a 12.7L 550hp, 1650 torque Detroit diesel semi engine in it running at 85-90% pushing a 50klb load - it’s not really that’s bad :). I never lifted the tag until about a year after this video - wanted prevost to green light it first before I ruined something. Wife was upset (we all were) to say the least. We took 2 weeks off to stay there and had to leave Christmas morning and come home to 5-7 days of hell. The Christmas spirit kinda went away. As for owning the bus - this is our 3rd RV and it’s hands down the best traveling vehicle out there - there is a reason just the Prevost rolling chassis is $800k before the conversion. I will admit it’s a little overkill to use as a camper at state parks and little short runs but we got it to travel across the states. Been to Florida 5 times, Mackinac island, New England area, Arkansas and then did a loop hitting Yellowstone and back (bunch of places in between). For that it’s perfect and couldn’t imagine anything else and I have had a Tiffin and super C. Now that we have hit most of the US, we are thinking of selling to let someone else enjoy it. To big for just a few little trips - love it though.

    • @qwiklok
      @qwiklok 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CampPrevost Just for fun, I took a look at a new Tiffen. In comparison to a Prevost or MCI conversion, I wouldn't touch it unless it was the only option. Busses are great. Make for rider comfort and safety. But then again, you need lots of $$$. Noise, I've seen engine rooms with sound deadening, concrete floors, lead etc. big improvement. And of course today's motors are much quieter anyway.

    Looking at getting a prevost I noticed yours seem to raddle a lot is that normal and when you wen to the back you could really here the humming noise of the tires do you like your Prevost

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure. It’s 20 years old, gonna have something make a noise. It’s really not bad inside, I think on the passenger side by the dinette, it sounds like something needs tightened / think it may be the awning or something outside... the engine is loud in the back for sure, there are 6 tires back there too. They are not perfect but drive nice. I would say it’s probably more for traveling then old fashioned camping - we will see this summer. Going to take it camping when the weather turns. We weren’t going to make a purchase till spring but this one came along and we liked the inside. I like the full size fridge, large kitchen, large shower, long range, large water capacity (160gallons). It doesn’t have two bedrooms though (super C did) and miss a screen door on the front. There is also a lot more going on with it, just more things to keep up with. It uses air for a lot of things too, toilet, back up camera door, tag axle lift, steering assist, rear air bag belt tensioners. I have a small leak somewhere - gotta chase that down next. Go look at few and drive them - compare to other class A’s. Might work, might not.

    Hope all of you are healthy, COVID can suck the life out of you (literally & figuratively). My Hubs & I had it & he was almost bad enough to be hospitalized but I was with him so he stayed home. I had mild symptoms but it has been a struggle breathing since November when we had it.
    I hope your wife (missed names) is feeling better & I was with her...stop filming & be helpful! She gave you a kinder look than I would’ve! 😁
    I was quite concerned with a few safety issues, the girls not buckling up, dog on lap while driving, casually walking through the rig, this video is almost a “what not to do” video. Oh, and be kinder to your wife & daughter. I’ll let you figure out where you slipped up with them.

    I'm glad you and your family are feeling better now and that you are the lucky ones who didn't end up hospitalized or left your children without parents. I simply cannot understand for the life of me, why.. for just ONE Christmas, people can't stay home. FFS. I'd would have loved to taken my kid to see the grandparents over Christmas. But you know what? WE STAYED HOME. **THIS** is why you social distance, people. THIS is why the government is begging people to mask up and social distance. This Virus came out earlier than they claim. My wife and I went to Fl. 05-2019 and came down with a nasty Virus, there was nothing that could be done for us, we had to ride it out for 9 days, we didn't do anything, Fever, Chills, Aches, difficulty keeping food down, trouble breathing. This was the Virus and we are still alive and kicking. I still would like to know How many people Died from the Flu in 2020! I haven't seen any numbers at all, this is why I have difficulty believing anything put out by the media or network tv, it is all scare tactics and it seems that you are believing the news media. Check and see how many died from the Flu in 2018, 2019, then tell what was bad! They are both BAD but the Virus seems to serve the Politicians and Medical Communitys needs to fill the hospitals pockets with tax payer's money! Now we have a JackAss that wants to give away the Country! Good luck.

    You are so excited about your RV but wife not so excited about filming. If you are seen with your dog in your lap while driving, is that not an accident waiting to happen? Walking around inside while moving, is that not dangerous? Mother tested positive to COVID, should you not be tested and isolate in the RV? Ditch the wife and find someone who shares your interest in the RV and enjoy your travels. Maybe there's a personality switch for the wife.

    • @CampPrevost

      She does fine, just not on film - same with the oldest daughter. Will have to leave the future videos to the youngest and myself. I’m female so no one can say “figures, a guy would say that”. Your wife is an awful, unhappy person. I feel bad for you. If she hates it this much, leave her home, take your kids and have a good time yourselves. Those kids are already miserable and take after her. Damn, you seem like a nice guy.

      Lori, Your observations are unhelpful and most likely inaccurate since they are based on what...a 10 minute slice of life with no context? How can you say the kids are miserable? You know NOTHING about this family and their personalities. Family life is complicated and if a video is awkward, then so be it. The moment will pass.

    Thought about subscribing but your wife ruined the interest for me. She was miserable and sad to say has rubbed off on children. It was Christmas, and as a mom, wife, we smile when we don’t always feel like it, we laugh through difficult times, we make a bad situation good, for our family, if nothing else. Her lack of support, just made me sad. Fortunate to have each other, is most important, but to be grateful for that and have the experience many others don’t have, and not be able to see it is awful. Kids weren’t even grateful they had Christmas gifts. I’m a Foodbank and shelter volunteer, and there is a downside to things in life, and you all are not on that side. Not always happy, happy, joy, joy, but she appears to be miserable. Might behoove you, as the man of the family, to make it a family effort to spend a holiday doing for others. No one is perfect, but I hope mom gets well soon and things get better for your family.

    • @CampPrevost
      @CampPrevost  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I shouldn't have filmed her or included it in this video - its pretty intimidating to drive and she didn't want to be filmed - ended up a train wreck. All of us lost our vacation plans this summer and looked forward to our only 2 weeks off in FL - then had to drive home a few days into it. Glad we did, I was out for 2.5 weeks, would have never been able to get home. My oldest daughter doesn't want to be filmed either - I will leave them out in future videos. I know the story behind the scenes but it appears different on video then what it really is. We did build 2 Little Free Pantry's to help with community food issues and help Plarn at home to build mats for those in need.
