    • @DianaGladney

      No, that’s only via Canons Utility software that it’s that low. This is using Ecamm Live for live streaming.

      That’s correct, Ecamm is Mac Only. So if you use the Canon utility it’ll be stuck at Canons specification of 576p as the max output resolution.

      Thank you for thinking of me! I don’t have any affiliation with Sparkocam, so I don’t have any affiliate links. You might want to consider looking into the manufacturers brand for your camera. Hey Diana. Thanks for this video! Great stuff about the content... But my video is crispy with the cable. Using tracking auto focus. It's sharp. Looks sharp in OBS. Looks sharp when I'm on zoom calls. Get compliments all the time. Have proper lighting, but when my church does live streams on TH-cam, I look less than the quality on the obs. Do you know why?

    Found your channel yesterday and spent a LOT of time here because it was some of the most helpful REAL WORLD answers that I had been looking for. I want to start Live Streaming using Ecamm and my T6i, although I am considering a M50, and I had many questions about HDMI vs USB and how to the quality difference was. I also had been looking for workarounds to the 30 minute time limit. I will be testing it all out later this evening. Thanks and keep it coming!

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dan McCutchen That's so awesome! Warms my heart to hear you're getting so much value out of the content, seriously! I genuinely work to provide the best I can on the channel. The T6i isn't too different from my T5i I used to have but the T6i will work with Ecamm live similar to the M50, you'd just need a USB cable or the one that came in the box with your camera will work too. If you're wanting to record for unlimited time frames, I typically do that inside Ecamm Live when using my M50. Just make sure you have space for your videos depending on where you save them on your computer or hard drive.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t say it’s so much what you push through Ecamm but more of what the platform you’re streaming to requires as a minimum. I pay for pretty fast internet since I do video work full time so I don’t haven’t standard speeds to really suggest but Ethernet is always best but if there’s a suggested upload speed it’s probably on their website. I’ve never looked into it.

    The ecamm/usb setup will prevent the camera from going to sleep after 30 mins? I'm having trouble finding that answer.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it will. Once you’re connected to Ecamm and it recognizes your camera, the camera will maintain autofocus and will not go to sleep after 30 minutes. It works really well.

  • @debuswellnesschannel5781
    @debuswellnesschannel5781 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe a silly question. But when you live stream using your m50 and Ecamm Live can you still connect to a pre scheduled stream that has been set within TH-cam? We are only using our iphone now to go live so before I buy a m50 just need to make sure.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s not a silly question at all.
      Yes you can connect to it. Sometimes I’d be out and have an idea and schedule a Stream, then when I’m home and back on my computer, I can start Ecamm Live and it shows your stream in the options under scheduled. It’s pretty efficient in that regard.

      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's been A TON of people asking me about this so it made sense to share a video around it. The best way to get the most out of either mode is going to be connecting via Ethernet so the stream connection doesn't drop and a better lens if you have access to one. It's kind of that same question of whether USB audio is worse than XLR audio, it's still going to be based on the mic either way.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Luke Kasten I never say what camera you should buy because it’s easy to pick for features and a spec sheet. As much as it is about what you need, your preference still matters. You probably are already leaning to one side or another. Either you choose Sony for it’s lack of limitations or Canon for it’s ease of use for beginners. But it’s easy to buy one and want the opposite the longer you keep watching TH-cam videos. Rent them or buy one and see if you like it. But only you can make that decision. Not super helpful, but it’ll save you money in the end because either you’ll buy based on a bunch of TH-cam suggestions or because you bought what you really wanted.

If you go into your camera settings in the camera within the first tab that has a camera icon, go to Page 9 of 9 and you'll see an option that says "HDMI info disp" turn this to "OFF".

    Thanks for making the point that content is what's truly important. I am considering getting a Canon M50 and using Ecamm live. Can you give me any other recommendations as far as cameras go - same general price range? Thank you!

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy Brian, I'm so glad the content was helpful for you! In the same price range, other cameras more or less have the same or in some ways worse limitations than the M50 does. The M50 or similar cameras like the Canon M6 are good for beginners but beyond that the camera recommendation isn't really based on price but what you want your camera to be for primarily and what are your "non negotiable's" of what you want your camera to have.
      So, if your goal is unlimited recording for video, that's not any Canon camera, they all have 30 minute recording limits and the only way to get around that is via software. So, it has to be more than price range as to what you're looking for to give a good recommendation that doesn't end up being a waste of money.

      @@DianaGladney , thank you for getting back to me, I appreciate it. I've been live streaming my Yoga classes via my phone and/or MacBook, and I'm ready to go beyond that. What I'm looking for is a quality DSLR that is straightforward and doesn't require a ton of workarounds. Video capture cards are impossible to come by now, so I would have to go into my Mac via USB. After watching a ton of TH-cam videos, I'm leaning towards the M50, but I always like to have a few options to choose from. Budget is not the only factor, and I can go beyond the $599 that's it listed for now. So in a nutshell - livestreaming Yoga, filming TH-cam content and filming out in the world is what I will be doing. What are your thoughts?

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then, the M50 isn’t the best option then honestly. I’d go with a Sony a6400 or a6600. The a6600 has stabilization built in and is one of the biggest difference between the two.
      But I use the a6400 especially since it’s mostly on a tripod. They have unlimited video recording, clean HDMI out and even though capture cards are hard to come by if you have Ecamm Live it’ll work the same as a Canon would now via USB. It’s a recent feature update.
      The lenses can cost a bit more than Canon but Sigma and Tamron lenses are just as good though. That’d be my suggestion.

    • @briansylvester6739

      Diana Gladney - EntreWoman TV , thank you, Diana! B and H actually recommend a Sony. I assume the newer ones don’t have the overheating issue? I really appreciate your honesty. There are a lot of biased reviews on YT, and it can be frustrating, especially as a novice just trying to make the right decision the first time.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My pleasure! I know that pain all to well and its frustrating purchasing gear you think will be great but ends up being garbage.
      But yes, the newer Sony’s don’t have overheating issues and it’s nice too because I’ve honestly been nothing but impressed since I got the a6400 and I’ve owned a lot of cameras. The other thing I forgot to mention though difference between the two is battery life. The battery is smaller and dies much faster on the a6400 vs the a6600. Again I don’t mind since I’m mostly recording in my office and use power adapters but to not be targeted to the wall or hookup a battery bank via the USB charging, the a6600 has the bigger battery.
      If you want, you can always rent a camera and see how you like it first if you prefer. I’ve rented from Lens Rentals before, there’s a video in the channel, and it was worth it when checking out a lens I was looking at.

    Hi, I was looking for this answer for a couple of weeks and your answer just blowed me up! I didn't notice about the quality when you swapped from USB to HDMI (did you really swap?). You were reasoning about what is important at the end and I was agreeing with my head. I've heard that capturing from USB had a lack of quality (said by one of the Ecamm live streamers). I decided to invest on an Amazon cheap capture card (like Camlink) but for about 20€ I hope it doesn't have worse quality than the USB.

    I was so excited when I saw this video bc it's exactly what I was asking....BUT you didn't answer the question! You just said it doesn't matter that much. I know what you're saying, but can you tell me technically if HDMI or USB is better quality and also compare and contract the advantages/disadvantages of each? I watched your other videos regarding Canon M50 and USB and I do the USB method with ecamm live. But, I feel there is a bit of lag. So, now I'm wondering if HDMI would be better since I was able to find the El Gato 4k.
    From what I've read, you don't have to worry about the cam shutting off after the 30 mins with HDMI (at least that what el gato reviewers said) but I WOULD lose the autofocus. Am I missing anything?

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The original Canon M50 does not have clean HDMI out and honestly it’s a waste trying to even use it. Yes, there is very small difference in sharpness but neither introduces lag. I don’t outright say one is better quality wise because it honestly is not even noticeable and both look great quality wise.
      If you’re serious about live streaming, I wouldn’t recommend the original Canon M50. If you have the Canon M50 Mark 2 that just came out, that one has clean hdmi out and won’t shut off on you and you lose Autofocus. If you use the original M50 it will be an issue. There are a ton of videos on the channel where I share about that and all the issues surrounding it. Streaming via USB is the way to if you’re going to live stream using the original Canon M50.
      Hope this clears up the questions you had.

    Hi Diana. So I’m using a canon T3i and a 60D to live streaming for my church services using Ecamm but my video comes out blurry. Not sure if you know what I could be doing wrong? Should I have my camera in video mode or manual?

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rocio Hernandez Hey there Rocio, several reasons could be why you’re image is blurry but without seeing it I can’t say which is the reason why and I’m not sure about any limitations with your specific cameras could contribute to that.
      Here are some things to check:
      - Make sure your streaming via Ethernet and not via WiFi. That’s the fastest way to deteriorate your stream quality.
      - Make sure you have adequate RAM for the computer you’re using and everything that’s running
      - Is the lens smudged or dirty, front and back element
      - Is your internet fast enough
      Those two specific cameras aren’t great with autofocus, so since manually focusing the image, is your actual subject in or out of focus?
      Your depth of field could be too shallow and your subject moves and now they’re out of the range of what’s in focus.
      Ecamm is only registering what it’s getting out of the camera. So, if they’re not in focus in the camera, any software will still register and read the blurry image.
      Check those and your camera settings and see what you notice and can change.

      @DianaGladney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Schubert I don’t know why you would be getting a hissing . I’ve recorded straight to the camera and mostly both my microphone and camera via USB into the computer.
      When it comes to audio noises, you will want to make sure audio and power sources aren’t crossing or the mic is picking up interference from somewhere. Connect everything up and move the mic and cable around doing some testing and see if it get louder or quieter in certain areas or if you can narrow down what’s causing the noise.

      Any camera will require you to learn how to set it up. So, there will have to be some time committed to learning to use whatever camera you decide on. I would say make sure you check if your camera has clean HDMI out.
      You can get a traditional camcorder that will operate similar to how the phone does and looks but allow you to zoom in if you’re in the back of the room.
      However, if you’re looking for a mirrorless camera option, you can look into the Sony a6100 or Sony a6400. Depending on how your ministry is setup you will need to get a lens that will give you the flexibility you need. The Tamron 17-200mm f2.8 will probably be ideal.
      Either way, you will need to learn either camera setup to get the most out of it for the best look.

This is what I saw in your video content. In my personal opinion if you're going to spend the money on a Canon EOS M50 you need to use a USB capture card there on Amazon very cheap. Otherwise get a Logitech Brio webcam.

      If you are using the Mark 1 M50 has a lot of issues for live streaming. This is specifically using Ecamm Live which works around the 30-min time out limit on the camera so it stays awake. It also doesn’t show the autofocus box. To stream via HDMI at 30 minutes the camera goes to sleep and the only way to remove the box is turn off the autofocus or display. There are tons of videos on my channel on the camera and streaming but if you’ve just purchased this camera, I’d highly recommend at least exchanging it out for the M50 Mark 2 where those issues are resolved or invest in a different camera. The other option if you don’t have Ecamm Live is to use the Canon webcam software they developed for live streaming. Those are the only viable options if you have the M50 Mark 1. If you have the M50 Mark 2, it’s just a matter of going into the settings and enabling Clean HDMI in the menu.

      I’ve actually never used that Blackmagic device before so I don’t know the in’s and out’s with that device but I would make sure your streaming via Ethernet connection and not WiFi, make sure your cables are high quality to transfer video data and make sure you’re not maxing out your computers RAM because if you are, you’re computer is struggling to keep up with everything. Those would be some tips.

    HI...My issue is the lag between video and audio when streaming. So rather than which gives better quality...my question is...which one works better in regards to the Video and Audio syncing? ...Right now, I am using all USB cables but the lag between the 2 when streaming is horrible. So...I decided to buy HDMI cables and the HDMI capture cards for each camera....which should be in tomorrow!! I just want to make sure that was investing in for a better streaming experience. Can you or anyone seeing this comment give me some pointers on that issue? Oh and I have played with the mic delay and it was still bad.

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well first I’d say see if you’re truly having a sound delay or latency issues when you’re saying “lag” because they’re not the same.
      If it’s a delay because when you’re speaking and the mouth movements are off, it can be your USB cable not being fast enough or your computer being unable to process all of what you’re trying to do and it’s moving slow because of that.
      HDMI will provide the best performance but if you’re having computer processing issues because the computer can’t handle all its being asked to do, HDMi won’t fix that. And if you’re using the M50 Mark 1 HDMI won’t help you either because the camera will go to sleep within 30 minutes.
      You did well to buy all new cables because some cables transfer data slower than others or are needing to be replaced. If you can’t record a sample from your computer without the audio and video being out of sync after that, it’s likely not cable/camera related issue. Also, make sure the port you’re using on your computer or adapter os fast enough for what you’re trying to do.

      Hey there! I quality wise they’re both relatively similar so it’s more for preference in body design at that point. I honestly can’t recommend the SL3 because of some weird video limitations it has and both otherwise with function the same.

      Yes there’s a playlist about live streaming with the M50 on the channel. Either is an option but I’ve had several in my community complain about Sparkocams customer service with issues with the software, so if you use it, you’re pretty much on your own if it’ll work or not or troubleshooting using it.

    Saludos amigo conecté mi M50 M2 pero la calidad es mala y 1024*576 es normal eso? También uso una Captura de Vídeo barata y la calidad también es mala es así o hay que configurar algo? Por qué si es así no vale pena tengo una webcam china 2K y la calidad es 3 veces mejor y yo pagué muchos dineros por la M50 y esperaba una calidad buena y es muy mala por webcam y lenta en HDMI también es mala hay algo que hacer?

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Desafortunadamente, sí, eso es normal cuando usa la versión USB de Canon para la transmisión en vivo.
      Sin embargo, en este ejemplo, estoy usando Ecamm Live que me permitirá incluso expandir mi metraje de 1080p a 4k. Sugiero revisar eso aquí: Diana.Link/Ecamm
      La diferencia con las tarjetas de captura más baratas es que simplemente no son confiables y sí, HDMI se ve mejor que los 576p de Canon Webcam Utility a través de USB, pero esas tarjetas de captura baratas de $ 20 se sobrecalientan, se apagan aleatoriamente y distorsionan los colores. Por ejemplo, probé uno y tomó un color azul claro y los colores se vuelven verde lima y tus tonos de piel están apagados.
      Para mí, solo sé que para mi contenido y las marcas con las que trabajo una tarjeta de captura confiable es mucho. Sí, el Elgato Cam Link cuesta $99 pero vale la pena. Tengo la tarjeta de captura de la versión HD desde 2019 y nunca funciona defectuosa.
      Ya que tiene el M50 Mark 2, siga adelante y use HDMI en su cámara, es de mucha mejor calidad y debería estar bien. Solo asegúrese de que su velocidad de fotogramas (24p o 30p, por ejemplo) coincida con cualquier servicio de transmisión que esté utilizando.
      - - -
      Unfortunately, yes that is normal when you're using the Canon USB version for live streaming.
      However, in this example, I'm using Ecamm Live that will allow me to even expand my 1080p footage to 4k. I'd suggest checking that out here: Diana.Link/Ecamm
      The difference with the cheaper capture cards is that they're simply unreliable and yes HDMI looks better than the 576p of the Canon Webcam Utility via USB but those $20 cheap capture cards overheat, go out randomly, and skew the colors. For example, I tested one and it took a light blue color and turns the colors lime green and your skin tons are off.
      For me, I just know that for my content and the brands I work with a reliable capture card is much. Yeah, the Elgato Cam Link is $99 but it's worth it. I've had the HD version capture card since 2019 and it's never run faulty.
      Since you have the M50 Mark 2, go ahead and use HDMI on your camera it's far better quality and you should be okay. Just make sure your frame rate (24p or 30p for example) is matched in whatever streaming service you're using.

Also what I may need so the battery doesn’t die on me during a stream. Some videos say get the Canon Interface Cable IFC-600PCU, some say get a new $89 accessory kit. • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have Ecamm Live, you only need the USB cable if you plan to live stream via USB. If you want to, you can use a capture card which is connected via the camera's micro HDMI port. Which option you choose is up to you, I always used the USB version with Ecamm because it was so easy. (This USB cable if you plan to stream via USB only: diana.link/cable)
      As far as battery life, you will need an AC adapter. It's 2 parts, one power brick, and the dummy battery:
      - Canon Branded Power Adapter: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/259624-REG/Canon_7875A002_CA_PS700_AC_Power_Adapter.html
      - Dummy adapter: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/883409-REG/Canon_6785b001_DC_Coupler_DR_E12_for.html
      OR You could get the 3rd party option: - Raeisusp USB Power Option (to use with battery bank): amzn.to/2JtjZ7k
      If you want some clarity on the power options, I'd recommend this video where I review some power options: th-cam.com/video/PEYTnVdyEW0/w-d-xo.html

Ecamm camera input and the hdmi input must be used together for camera feeds. If not your camera will shut off after 30 mins. The feed from Ecamm keeps the camera on somehow. The HDMI feed is better to be honest . But not as drastic as D was saying. I use the hdmi feed for both zoom and Ecamm, its awesome. Hopefully this helps guys . Laterrrrsssss
