Ratt was definitely not slept on. They were massive in their day. Plenty of hits too. Check out "Back For More," "Lay It Down," "Wanted Man," "I Want a Woman," "Lovin' You's a Dirty Job" or "Way Cool Jr."
One of the funniest stories was from a very good friend's mother and grandmother. Ratt was playing a concert in Jackson, MS sometime in 1987. My friend's grandmother and mother were staying at the same hotel as the band because the grandmother had an early morning procedure at a local hospital. Anyway, the band got onto the elevator with the mother and grandmother. They were so nice, making small talk and making sure the ladies were ok. When the ladies got home, they were telling my friend and me about their time with Ratt. Grandma ended it with "such nice boys"! So every time I hear anything about Ratt, I always think "such nice boys".
Trivia: The man in the tuxedo at 1:46 min. who's annoyed at the noise from upstairs is legendary comedian Milton Berle; his nephew Marshall Berle was Ratt's manager at the time. Other great RATT songs to check out: 'Body Talk'; 'Lay It Down'; 'Sweet Cheater'; 'You're In Love'; 'Way Cool Jr.' etc.
Loved this song! RATT was underrated and not appreciated enough, if you ask me. The old man at the dinner table was Milton Berle -- an iconic comedian and actor whose career spanned 80 years. He was the uncle of RATT's manager and was in two of RATT's music videos and did them for free. Thanks for the reaction!
Always when people talk about the best guitarists they never mention Warren Di Martini who was pretty innovative. Still struggle with trying to get those long guitar streches on some of their songs.
The older man and "older woman" who left the dining room early in the music video, were both portrayed by Milton Berle. He was one of the biggest stars in the early years of television, and was known as "Mr. Television", because the number of televisions in the US in 1949 doubled, from 1 million sets, to 2 million sets, because everyone wanted to watch his highly-popular comedy-variety TV series "The Texaco Star Theater" on NBC. Milton Berle's TV show aired from 1948 to 1956, and Elvis Presley appeared twice on his show during the program's final season in 1956. Berle appeared in numerous films and TV series in the ensuing years. Milton Berle's nephew was the manager for Ratt, and arranged for him to appear in this music video, and in the music video for Ratt's song, "Back For More". Milton Berle passed away in 2002, at the age of 93.
Glad you hit on Milton in the video. The age of golden oldie comedians of our time are slipping away but, their history of "greatness" is well preserved thanks to the Internet. Red Skelton, Milton Berle, Rodney Dangerfield, Buddy Hackett, Carol Burnett, Tim Conway....man, the list is so long and gave way to greats like Robin Williams, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, etc.
Ratt was one of the bigger bands back at that point. “Wanted Man”, “You’re in Love”, “Lay it Down”... these were huge hits!! Jake E. Lee from Ozzy Osbourne’s band originally played with them when they were known as Mickey Ratt. Carlos Cavazo from Quiet Riot played with them recently. Warren DeMartini (the main guitarist) was like Siamese Twins with George Lynch from Dokken. Check out his multiple-layered vibrato at the end. Fantastic!! RIP to Robbin Crosby who, at one time, dated Tawny Kitaen, David Coverdale’s (from Whitesnake) wife. In fact, she’s on two of Ratt’s album covers and in a video... Shout to Stephen Pearcey, the singer, who’s battling cancer now. RIP to Milton Berle, who played old man AND played his own wife!! Great band during a great era!! Thanks, Rob Squad!!
I was in high school and college at their peak. Sadly did not see them live back then but did see them about 15 years ago on tour opening for well...Poison.
Warren could play circles around George Lynch, whether friends or not.I got to open for Ratt with my band back in the day,and just warming up with Warren backstage....he has those long, skinny, fast fingers that make guys like myself think:"You d*ck!"😁.But he's a super nice guy so you don't really mean it.
@@ericwalker8636 I had it remembered, at this point, that Steven Pearcy was his nephew….it was a loooong time ago that I heard about the connection….so I looked it up, spurred by your comment, haha! Funny how memories of things change over time.
Actually the lead singer Stephen Pearcy is the nephew of Milton Berle. But also another little/big tidbit is that Milton Burle had one of the biggest Dongs in Hollywood lol
RATT really started rolling in 84 when I was 16 in highschool, still one of my favorite bands of all time Warren is a guitar god absolute LEGEND, WARREN will go down in history someday as one of the best to ever play guitar LEGEND. God only knows how many times I pissed off the neighbors with this HOUSE SHAKER. Best solo by far in that era. RATT will never get old for me. 55 now where does the time go 😮😮😮. Peace......
In 1980 I was 20 and a lead guitar player. I’ll tell you! VaN Halen came in 1978, crushing the disco era and paving the way for the 80s! Eddie Van Halen woke every guitar player up to strive to be the best! Warren D Martini was such an underrated lead guitar player!! Ratt was smart in that they took heavy metal to the women!! Created sexy beats with wicked guitar vibrato and great composers!! These hair bands brought class to rock and roll. Made rock for the first time , Royalty!!! Rock n roll was at its highest in the 80s!! Upbeat heavy metal too!! God I miss those days! Im 62 and my wife and I were , and are such fans of Ratt!! They were not appreciated enough I thought! Miss my glory days too!! The 80s were totally driven by music!!! Beautiful decade!! Music soothes the savage beast and nothing was more true than the explosion of so many great different type and styles of music that flooded that era all thanks to MTV!! Our first music video channel!! Miss those dsy😢
Love Ratt. Some people said they were a one-hit wonder but had many hits over the years in the 80s. Oh and the old guy is Milton Berle. A great 40-50s comedian and I think a relative of one of the guys, but I could be wrong. Lol
@@chriso6719 oh that’s right. I knew there was a connection there lol. Wasn’t Robin Crosby a relative of Bing Crosby? I can’t remember if that’s true or not
“Lay It Down”, “Lack of Communication“, “Wanted Man”, and “Back for More”…are some of my favorite Ratt songs. And Warren DeMartini is on my top ten of favorite guitarists💜
Ratt was huge and awesome.. That twin guitar harmony... one of the best.. others are the Scorpions.. Boston.. what a great sound.. i love covering all the 80s hair bands..
Warren DeMartini is true guitar hero! Nobody like him, before or after. He's like Rhodes, Schon, and Schenker... No clones out there! "Way Cool Jr" showcases blues side of the band.
excellent Randy Rhoads reference. My all time favorite guitar player, otherworldly chops (ably assisted in his songwriting by Bob Daisley), spectacular hairdo in the After Hours video, impossibly skinny....lol. As Ozzy said, 'if you envisioned what a rock star looked like....Randy Rhoads.' I went to Flying Baron Estates on a visit to Florida...... not quite eerie, but definitely somber. :-(
Yes! More hair metal! This band is just one of many to emerge from the LA metal scene in the 80's. Although Round and Round was their biggest hit, you gotta hear Back for More, Lay it Down, Way Cool Jr., Dance Dance Dance, and Wanted Man. The band is: Stephen Pearcy - vocals, Warren DiMartini - guitar (the dark haired one through the floor), Robbin Crosby - guitar (RIP), Juan Croucier - Bass guitar, and Bobby Blotzer - drums. Unfortunately, the band is a shadow of it's former self, as of late. Only 2 original members are still in the band. But what a ride!
80's hair band. Lead singer is Stephen Pearcy. You may have heard this song in a Geico commercial. Back For More, Lack of Communication, Way Cool Jr, Lovin' You's A Dirty Job, and Wanted Man are more from them. Lots of hair bands in the 80's. White Lion ,Great White, and Danger Danger are a few more.
@@scottNNJ Yes, that's her, and she was married to David Coverdale for while. She was on Out of the Cellar's album cover because she was dating Robbin Crosby at the time.
I saw Ratt open for Billy Squier in Tulsa, OK in 1986. Epic concert! The 80’s were unique in that you would literally hear a band like Culture Club and Ratt being played on the same radio station. I’m a child of the 80’s and I agree with you Rob that the Hair Bands ruled that decade. Great reaction! 🐀 🎸 🤘
This reaction is infectious, she is really digging Warren's solo with Robin, both of them having a great music experience, the smiles say it all , Was such a great time to be young trust me.......
The fact that they got the great Milton Berle to star in this was too awesome at the time and still awesome now! How many hair bands?? A LOT!!!! More sleeper bands than the ones that really hit big but a LOT to choose from in the 80s. Warren DeMartini (does NOT get the recognition he deserves) was the lead guitarist on the table. The late Robbin Crosby was the blond he "threw" the solo to.
Ratt was one of the most successful 80's glam rock bands... Classic songs to check out - 'Back for more' ... 'Way cool Jr.' ... 'Dance' ... "You're in love" ... "Shame shame shame" ... 'Wanted man' ... 'Lack of communication' ... 'Lay it down' ... 'I want a woman' ... 'Slip of the lip'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥🐭
RATT really started rolling in 84 when I was 16 in highschool still one of my favorite bands of all time, Warren is a guitar god absolute LEGEND. It was great being young in this era, today's youth are being cheated big time . 55 now where does the time go 😮😮😮😮. Peace......
RATT was one of the first hair bands getting their start as Mickey RATT. Their early stuff dates back to 1980/81. If you are going to jump in the hair band rabbit hole RATT has to be near the top. Classic classic hair rock. Love every minute of it
The 80s, when you could hear Micheal Jackson, Prince, Stray Cats, Duran Duran and Ratt playing on different radio stations in the same day. I liked a little over everything back then but I was a hair metal fan...there were so many bands...Motley Crue, Ratt, Twisted Sister, Dokken, Skid Row, Scorpions, Quiet Riot, Poison, Def Leppard...it was just crazy how many there were. Jon Bon Jovi started then too.
It was crazy how many came out! It kept it interesting! Seemed like every single day there was a new band to go to "Tower Records" to get their cassette. It was crazy, but, it was THE BEST TIME!!!
I seen ratt probably 30 times throughout the 80s warren de Martini was one of my favorite guitarist and guitar heroes. He's one of my influences and George Lynch from Dokken.
Ratt was one of the biggest hair metal bands of the 80's. Definitely in the top ten along with Motely Crue, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Twisted Sister, Ozzy, ACDC, Scorpions, Poison, WASP, Bon Jovi, and Cinderella. There were literally hundreds of hair metal bands in the 80's. One of the reasons it died in the 90's was because it was so over-saturated with cookie cutter clones.
Iron Maiden, ACDC, Priest... not "hair bands". Long hair didnt equal "hair band"... otherwise Metallica and Megadeth would be hair bands. Twisted Sister, despite having a lead singer with makeup and big poodle hair, was not a hair band either.. they were closer in spirit to Motorhead.. a grimy, agressive, fast rock band full of ugly dudes. "Hair bands" were specifically "Glam bands", mostly from the sunset strip in LA... so yeah Ratt, Crue, Poison and Quiet Riot were in that group.
This song was huge!!! Up there with the most famous of the hair band hits, it's always included on lists of great 80s hair band rock songs. It was on MTV a lot! Ratt was very popular. Yes, in the 80s we had an insane variety of good music of all genres, we were so lucky and didn't even know it, we just thought it was normal! Now we know it's not...it was a special time, along with the 60s and 70s.
OH gosh, seeing you two headbangin' to Ratt has totally and completely made my day ***EPIC***!!!! Thank you so so much for your honest and fun reactions.... Blessings
RATT N ROLL! 🤘When they hit in the 80's we were all hooked! Most definitely not slept on. There was so much great music then, what a great time to be a teenager.
Nailed it. RATT really started rolling in 84 when I was 16 in highschool still one of my favorite bands of all time, Warren is a guitar god absolute LEGEND.
RATT is one of the 80’s best glam rock bands of all time. Every Album they made was amazing! ‘I need a woman’ is an awesome song as well. So many of their songs are hits. He has such a unique voice and the harmony the band contributed gave them a one of a kind sound! The high pitch vocals are from the bass guitar player; Juan. Amazing band!
I saw Ratt in 1981 at a "Battle of the Bands." The lead singer, still in his uniform from a supermarket, as he sat on the edge of the stage writing a song. Other bands there were Hanoi Rocks, Quiet Riot, LA Guns and Motley Crue.
There were A LOT of hair bands in the 80’s and I miss every one of them. Ratt was one of the earlier ones to come along as far as what they call hair metal, and helped pave the way for the many that came after.
Ratt was huge in the 80s! I was an 80s teen and I absolutely loved all types of music we had. I had my long hair and would rock out to all this music! Great memories. “ Body Talk “ is another awesome track by them.
One reason why the 80"s was the best era in music history. You guys haven't put a dent in the list of hairbands with at least 3 songs worth listening to.
Two things: There were enough Hair Bands and metal bands that MTV did a 4 hour show weekly for them called Headbanger's Ball. Yes, I watched it religiously. Two. I saw Ratt once and found the singer to be the greatest person ever! I've gone to a lot of shows at this point and never understood why people would throw their drinks. It's such a waste of money and dangerous for the band. Well, a guy threw a beer, Stephen pointed the guy out, continues his song. A bit later another beer is thrown. Stephen walks off stage. The band continues to play the intro to a song (sorry I don't remember what song) . Stephen comes out after they play the intro nearly 10 times, they finish the song. When the song was over, Stephen explained that it is not okay to get his equipment wet and that the guy has been escorted out of the building, "He's just lucky I don't take his girlfriend too." Or something along those lines. I laughed so hard! The band, especially Stephen, went up a few notches in my favorite bands list after that.
The first Ratt album "Into the Celler" was just out of this world amazing. Warren Demartini was on par with any of the greats of the time. The second Ratt album "Invasion of your Privacy" was also incredible. It was amazing to of been alive and 16y/o in 1984. 1985, 86 the year I graduated high school, and the years up to 1990 was just all great music. We had so much great music those years. Ratt, Motley Crue, Cinderella, Poison, Dokken, Skid Row, Anchovie.....I mean Bon Jovi, are among the really popular hair bands that appeared on the scene in the mid-80's.
Not to brag, but it was even more amazing for me...my band got to open for them on the Invasion tour for 20 shows.I got to practice with them.I had the best seat in the house, sidestage. Then hitting the town with them afterwards, they drew in more *ss than a toilet seat 🤣 Absolutely lovely human beings, each and every one of them.I can't think of a single negative thing
YES!!! I KNEW you'd get around to Ratt eventually, with your love of 80s hair metal!! Such a great band! You have to do "Lovin' You's a Dirty Job" and "Way Cool Jr." next! For your next first-time hair band outing, I recommend a one-hit wonder called Autograph.... but their one hit is a classic! It's called "Turn Up the Radio", and it rocks! (P.S. I don't know if you've heard of Milton Berle, but he was a LEGENDARY comedian in the 50s and 60s. He is the older gentleman in this video. They called him "Uncle Miltie".)
By the way, the first guitarist playing the solo is Warren DeMartini. The second one is Robin Crosby, who dated Tawny Kitaen before she dated David Coverdale from Whitesnake. A lot of the bands you mentioned performed on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. Friendly and sometimes unfriendly competition between them pushed them to be better and better and better.
was a big fan of Hair Metal in Middle school - My sister, cousins and I counted years later and in a 3 yr period we saw about 27 bands. Ratt, Skid Row, Poison, Crue, LA Guns, D.A.D., Warrant, W.A.S.P, so many more ... I have great memories of concerts from age 13 to 15! Always thankful to my big sister and older cousins cause I was allowed to tag along only with the older girls.
As someone who grew up during that era, It wasnt true metal if the band was wearing eyeliner, true metal heads didn't publicly listen to a band that wore eyeliner, videos were a huge part of marketing and if you needed to market eyeliner you weren't worthy of the Metal era. I didn't even listen to Ratt until I outgrew the genre and started to appreciate the music...they rock
OMG! Totally forgot that Milton Berle was in this video!! Hysterical! Awesome blast from the past!! Also, Ratt is currently featured in a GEICO Insurance commercial.
Thank you for listening to our era!! The 80s were one hell of a good time!! America was on a decade of partying to the hilt then! Like the roaring twenties!! Fashion, music and good times!!
Taking me back to high school with this one! They did a song called "You think you're tough" Ozzy Osbourne is the star of their video for that one and is hilarious.
Get the album. The whole album kicks ass. I'm old school and still rock the 80's music daily. Nothing else comes close to the pure energy and fun it represented.
Ratt was awesome, this is my fav by them, but my close second fav is Nobody Rides For Free, from the Point Break movie soundtrack, just a killer song!! Loving You Is A Dirty Job is another Banger! And this is my fav Song titled Round and Round, but Aerosmith has a completely different song from the 70s with the same name that is also a banger you need to hear someday soon!!
classic amazing great song by Ratt I love this song you guys will be rocking to this and l Cant wait to watch your reaction to this song. Ya I remember having my 80s jean jacket back in the day with all the hair bands heavy metal and rock patches all over it .had be over 30 bands on it and I ran out room for more bands everybody loved the jacket and wanted had my mom sew on the patches so it was one of a kind. 80s was the best
Ratt were HUGE in the mid-80s. Probably second only to Motley Crue, and they were both playing the LA scene at the same time. Like anything popular, you get tons of copycats after, which is why there were so many hair bands-but most of the best (like Ratt) were part of the original glam/rock scene. We used to call in and vote for them all the time on Dial MTV. It was a weekly countdown show of the top videos based on viewer votes.
I'd say Motley and Ratt battled for 2nd under Bon Jovi in sales.Ratt had more talent,Bon Jovi and the Crue were able to write hit songs on a more consistent basis. As far as copycats...Quiet Riot was the first in history to have a metal record go #1.So everyone pretty much copycatted them
@@pastorofmuppets22 Quiet Riot..whose hits were all Slade covers..lets really talk about who ALL these bands were copy catting..Slade, Sweet, New York Dolls, T Rex, Hanoi Rocks...
Man I wish you guys could go back to the 80s with me. I went to all these shows, Ratt, Crue, AC/DC, Gins & Roses, etc. You guys have great energy, we'd have SO much fun. High school/ college, get out of class, party with friends, go to rock shows. No cell phones, no internet. Amazing times. So glad I grew up then. Love your channel, and since you did a Ratt vid, I'm subscribing!
Back then these guys toured with 2 or 3 more groups. You could easily see 3 or 4 hair bands in one show. I saw Ratt, Cinderella, and Bon Jovi then a couple of years later Cinderella, Winger, and The Bullett Boys.....low dough shows....10 bucks a ticket I think. It was a great time to be alive and in our prime. 😎🤘
"The 80's: The Decade That Made Us" TV show on the Nation Geographic channel will give you alot of the information you would want to know about the 80's including the music and the influences it had on us that lived it. I graduated in 1986 so I was fortunate to see all the great bands that started and the others that became legends. MTV was the perfect way to see the music videos though a lot of the first videos didn't make much sense when you tried to see how it went with the music.
Ratt was definitely big and one of the first “Hair Metal” bands from the early 80s Hollywood strip scene. If you want another by them, the guitar work and bass on Lay it Down is straight 🔥 Late 80s hairband to check out is Winger, try Seventeen by them.
Love this song... my favorite Ratt song You're in Love. These guys were big in the 80s. Rob Crosby was one of the guitarists. A friend told me he was Bing Crosby's son and I believed him for years and years until I was telling this to someone and they told me I didn't know shit. They was right :)
Ratt was one of the first bands to really break out of the LA scene in the early 80's. Similar to Metallica, Ratt got the best of the best in regards to studios and sound engineering, their records sounded so much more polished than other LA bands at that time, including Motley Crue. Ratt is absolutely underrated and slept on.
This band was a big inspiration for us when we started our hardrock-band in the eighties! 🙂We stole some from them for sure! I totally love the original Rats, and what they brought to the all of us metalheads! A new nuance.! RIP Robbin. 😍
Love this song! PLEASE react to another massive hit of theirs called “Lay it down.” My favorite! This one and “Lay it down” are 2 of their most recognizable ones in the U.S. Nobody come for me..✋🏼 in my opinion, their 2 biggest ones-Y’all will love “Lay it down” it too- Especially the beginning and end of the video- And I love your striped top Amber!💖💙✌️🤘🏼
Love this band, haven't heard this song in along time, from the 1984 & still sounds as good as it did when it came out. Another band 6iu guys should react to is called WASP with the song called Scream until you like it, see what you guys think of them.😎🎸👌❤️
The "hair metal" genre existed simultaneously alongside a thriving underground American rock scene. The former would have included bands like this, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison, Warrant, Dokken, Winger and the latter bands like R.E.M., The Replacements, Husker Du, The Smithereens, 10,000 Maniacs, Camper Van Beethoven. Older bands and artists from the 60's and 70's were still active, but the newer bands had younger audiences and seemed more like the next big thing. The metal bands had more support from mainstream radio and recording companies, while the underground bands were creating a support system from college audiences and independent labels, and what would become alternative rock. Both of these genres were somewhat subsumed by the breakthrough of Nirvana and grunge, because that music was as rocking as anything hair metal had done, but seemed like a hipper version of it that acknowledged that punk had happened. Honestly, there was a lot of great music in all those fields, and I never saw any reason to have to choose sides or anything.
going down the hair band rabbit hole, in the 80's era motley crue was at the top, ratt, twisted sister, cinderella, warrant, slaughter great white, white snake. 6:40
For all their masculine swagger, a lot of 80s "hair metal" bands were often criticized for "dressing up like girls", so it was extremely savvy of Ratt to have Milton Berle in the video, who was a comedian and early TV pioneer who used to dress in drag during his show (he plays the guy in the tux AND the woman who both leave after the first verse). Of course, Ratt having Berle's nephew as a manager at the time didn't hurt, either. :) Man, you're hitting all of 1984's high points recently- Thompson Twins, Go-Go's, RATT, "Jump"-era Van Halen- next up (maybe for Female Friday), "The Warrior" by Scandal (if you watch "Glow" on Netflix, this is the song that opens each episode).
@@armynurseboy : oh, absolutely. I'd like to see Jay & Amber tackle songs from the 70's glam era like "Love Is The Drug" by Roxy Music or "Gudbuy T'Jane" by Slade or "Lookin' For A Kiss" by the New York Dolls (or anything by Alice Cooper or David Bowie from around this time).
To clarify, there's several comments claiming Ratt had "tons of hits". This was their only big hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (#12). "Lay It Down" just barely cracked the top 40. (Bon Jovi, by comparison, had 8 songs in the top 10 from 1986-89.) Ratt did, however, have 7 or 8 songs chart in the top 40 on the Mainstream Rock chart. That chart was introduced in 1981 because Top 40 radio stations began to favor more Pop music. So the Mainstream Rock chart could gauge airplay on specifically "rock" radio stations. Also, I realize comedy is subjective, but in my opinion Milton Berle was never funny. He was an old vaudeville type comedian who happened to be around at the dawn of TV when there were only like 10 tv shows. 😀
@@gerrymartin2345 You are absolutely right. However, if i remember right, MTV had them on pretty heavy rotation every time they put out a video. Makes it feel like they were bigger than they probably were. Anyway, on the street, everyone I knew had Ratt in their cassette case in their car, alongside Pyromania, s night songs and back in black.
@@jrobertlysaght Yes, and you're right to point out that other artists of that decade had way more hits on the Billboard Hot 100 such as Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Poison among others.
So here is what is sorely over looked when referring to "hits". Ratt, at their core, were a heavy rock band. Not metal, but heavy rock. And heavy rock bands rarely have had "hits" on the Billboard Hot 100 singes charts. Pop radio wasn't playing bands like Ratt and Motley Crue etc for the most part back then. Yes those bands had a breakthrough "hit" every once in a while on the pop charts, but their music wasn't geared toward a "pop" audience in the way that Michael Jackson or Hall & Oates songs were. The more accurate way to evaluate Ratt's success, and bands like them, is to look at album sales, and concert tours. Ratt's debut album went Triple Platinum. Their 2nd album went Double Platinum. And their 3rd and 4th albums went Platinum. Even their 5th album which came out in the 90's went Gold. And Ratt headlined arena's and coliseums on 3 straight albums/tours starting in 1985. Ratt were absolutely a seminal hard rock band from the 80's. If you don't understand this, you either weren't around at the time, or you weren't paying attention, or you just weren't very smart.
Holy crap, I was called RATT boy in 8th grade because I had a RATT tshirt for each day of the week. Plus I am zodiac sign year of the rat lol 🤘RIP Robin Crosby

Ratt was head and shoulders above most of the hair metal bands back in the day. My first rock show was Ratt, opened by Kix and Winger. It was a pretty epic show. Winger was another of their peers that is often overlooked. Kix? Not so much. :-). And Warren DeMartini is a guitar beast.

As crazy as they are I am gonna guess they loved their moms and grandmas
Awesome story!!! Thank you for sharing. Nice to know, there were some nice boys in 80's hair bands! I think a lot were.
Great story!

And, Milton Burle was also playing the heavyset woman at the same dinner table, I recall that he often dressed like a woman as part of his comedy. 👍
Always when people talk about the best guitarists they never mention Warren Di Martini who was pretty innovative. Still struggle with trying to get those long guitar streches on some of their songs.
@@ljcwantsprivacy1 Oh wow! I never noticed that!
Milton Berle passed away in 2002, at the age of 93.
glad you pointed this out. i learned about mr. berle's connection around the time of the video's release but not a lot of people know.
Uncle Milty!
YES. Berle in drag. He was a legend.
Also, Milton Berle was rumored to . . . um . . . let's just say, he could've been very successful if he pursued a career in "Adult" films. ')
Thanks for this info. . .didn't know
Warren could play circles around George Lynch, whether friends or not.I got to open for Ratt with my band back in the day,and just warming up with Warren backstage....he has those long, skinny, fast fingers that make guys like myself think:"You d*ck!"😁.But he's a super nice guy so you don't really mean it.
Uncle Milty was in the video because his nephew was their manager.

I had it remembered, at this point, that Steven Pearcy was his nephew….it was a loooong time ago that I heard about the connection….so I looked it up, spurred by your comment, haha!
Funny how memories of things change over time.
This was a HUGE hit back in the MTV classic days. Old time comedian Milton Berle plays the father AND mother...
Ratt's manager was his nephew.
Actually the lead singer Stephen Pearcy is the nephew of Milton Berle. But also another little/big tidbit is that Milton Burle had one of the biggest Dongs in Hollywood lol

Lol
And,.damn, they knew how to write the hits.

The 80's was THE BEST for music. I was so blessed to grow up in the 80's and see so many hair bands live!! 🤘
*Rhoads
So true! I forgot all about way cool Junior
Met him a few times, he was pretty nice. The only band member who came out to greet fans.
All in for Way Cool Jr!!
excellent Randy Rhoads reference. My all time favorite guitar player, otherworldly chops (ably assisted in his songwriting by Bob Daisley), spectacular hairdo in the After Hours video, impossibly skinny....lol. As Ozzy said, 'if you envisioned what a rock star looked like....Randy Rhoads.'
I went to Flying Baron Estates on a visit to Florida...... not quite eerie, but definitely somber. :-(
This song is from the album 'Out of the Cellar'. The model on the record cover is Tawny Kitaen.
Dance, Dance, Dance was my favorite song and video. The hottie walking around reading The Vampire Lestat, classic
Wanted Man is my favorite of theirs, today.
@@chriso6719 Wasn’t Tawny Kitain the one in all of those Whitesnake videos? I didn’t know she worked with staff as well.
@@scottNNJ Yes, that's her, and she was married to David Coverdale for while.

At the time the band was managed by Marshall Berle, (Milton's nephew)
RATT was one of the most successful of the Sunset Strip hair metal bands. Warren DeMartini was a beast. I especially loved his riffs/hooks.
True. Saw them at Whisky a Go Go.

RATT was one of the first hair bands getting their start as Mickey RATT. Their early stuff dates back to 1980/81. If you are going to jump in the hair band rabbit hole RATT has to be near the top. Classic classic hair rock. Love every minute of it
You're In Love is my favorite from Ratt. They were huge back in the day and all over MTV. Another good one is Lay It Down.
Don't forget Cinderella and Slade.
Man, yeah, I remembering listening to all of those in the same day *on the same station*. LOL
It was crazy how many came out! It kept it interesting! Seemed like every single day there was a new band to go to "Tower Records" to get their cassette. It was crazy, but, it was THE BEST TIME!!!
In Detroit, you could hear them all on the SAME station!! #facts
80's were awesome for many reasons. Happened to be my teen years. And your right the music was pretty sweet.
You forgot Quiet Riot lol
Iron Maiden, ACDC, Priest... not "hair bands". Long hair didnt equal "hair band"... otherwise Metallica and Megadeth would be hair bands. Twisted Sister, despite having a lead singer with makeup and big poodle hair, was not a hair band either.. they were closer in spirit to Motorhead.. a grimy, agressive, fast rock band full of ugly dudes. "Hair bands" were specifically "Glam bands", mostly from the sunset strip in LA... so yeah Ratt, Crue, Poison and Quiet Riot were in that group.
@@Lego51 and Warrant and Europe, I know there are more, just not coming from the back to the front of my brain right now.

RATT is one of the 80’s best glam rock bands of all time. Every Album they made was amazing! ‘I need a woman’ is an awesome song as well. So many of their songs are hits. One reason why the 80"s was the best era in music history. You guys haven't put a dent in the list of hairbands with at least 3 songs worth listening to.
The older guy and the woman at the beginning that got up and left that was Milton Berle famous actor comedian he played both parts
Headbanger's Ball with Riki Rachtman was like the fuckin GOSPEL SHOW for metalheads back in the day goddamn I miss that shit

Autograph had more than 1 hit, and were consistantly a better band than Ratt, at least in my opinion.
All top notch suggestions. Especially Way Cool Jr

A cognizant analysis. Gets my like!

Man, you're hitting all of 1984's high points recently- Thompson Twins, Go-Go's, RATT, "Jump"-era Van Halen- next up (maybe for Female Friday), "The Warrior" by Scandal (if you watch "Glow" on Netflix, this is the song that opens each episode).
That was the Glam influence from the late 70s.
(Bon Jovi, by comparison, had 8 songs in the top 10 from 1986-89.)
Ratt did, however, have 7 or 8 songs chart in the top 40 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
You're right. Those two songs were their only Top 40 hits.
@@jrobertlysaght Yes, and you're right to point out that other artists of that decade had way more hits on the Billboard Hot 100 such as Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Poison among others.
you don't compare bon jovi with Ratt, dafugg are you new? lofl, um ratt is the hair, jon bovi is the bubble gum
