The stances are there for a reason. If your fighting a swordsman in water stance he will parry your moves a lot easier. If your fighting enemies in the wrong stance your doing it wrong.
Pressing square in all the stances will intact get yourself parried but triangle will add to staggering the opponent and it dont matter whether that stance effective on them or not. Try it for yourself

@Graham Fearon you have to switch in between constantly to keep that from happening. You can't just keep spamming the wrong stance over and over. Once you get the hang of it you'll know when to switch back.
The reason jin swings his sword slower in the air is because when he hits an enemy the body of the person he hits makes the swords swing stop so he can pull his sword back faster but when he swings in the mid air nothing stops the sword so he just lets his sword go until the sword reaches the limit of his arm.
Between Ghost of Tsushima,Jedi Fallen Order and of course God Of War all your tutorial vids made me a better player just started playing Ghost of Tsushima absolutely amazing so far thank you for making these tutorial videos keep killing it man awsome channel with on point content.
I swap stances all the time. Gives the combat much more variety instead of just spamming the same moves. I'm def a water stance guy tho. I like finishing combos with a water stance slash.. or a moon kick and then water stance slash.
I don't think holding square works unless you've unlocked Delayed Strike. I haven't unlocked it yet, and Jin resets after striking, even if holding square. Great combos though, can't wait to try them out.

I love your discovery of all these stance switching , I definitely be trying all these out Moon stance first , upgrade to the max to do triple spin . Moon stance , start off with triple spin (3x) , instead of the second spin cancel out, you do it on the third spin, you cancel out with the jump kick , immediate slow switch to Water stance and hold triangle for the consecutive slashes , 4 slashes and immediate swap to the Stone stance , tap triangle ONCE for a heavy downwards attack and hold triangle immediately for the quick piercing jab 3x , Jin doesn’t have to do a windup of a piercing animation :) Viola , a combo I did experimented on my own! OR an alternate is After swap to the Water stance , hold triangle consecutive slashes , switch AGAIN immediate to the Stone stance and press triangle twice for heavy strikes , Jin hits his sword downwards and it staggers and breaks the boss defenses or after the Water stance slashes , immediate slow mo swap back to Moon stance , light attack for a double kicks Hope you like it :)

The moon master cancel is the melee standard in the online multiplayer mode legends 😅they don’t jump to cut the animation short they flow between circle then resume the triple spin and circle again to the rythm of a horse gallop it’s by far the fastest way to deal the most damage with your katana I will say this sir you may be a mad genius I was suspicious of your methods throughout most of the video but I’m glad I stated tuned 👀✍🏻 I pride myself as a top notch swordsman myself and I’ve always adored the way you can string multiple stances together to contend with the unique five to 7 mongols trying to get their promotion from khotun lol and when you really move into the trance like flow state of lehal + in your second play through before a year later having played through the story around 4-5 times by now refining a different fundamental skill of jinns you try the online multiplayer and you are tested more than you ever have in story mode and all your skill work allows you to adjust and play well above your character level purely based on the strong sword muscle memory and instincts now in overdrive yet you are calm you parry dodge swapping stances (literally nobody appreciates the master katana!!! They all spam choppy animation cuts and special weapons in a very speed focused mania that only the truly amazing players actually do with some finesse ❤️🔥😩😪 and I feel that they have lost something precious from the pace of combat in story the element of swordsmanship that your combo hurricane 🌀 actually makes sense as a way to keep extended pressure on the enemy i tended to preferred more rigid patience finding the most 🫣 yo my train of thought is alas gone with the way us old guard warriors and leaderboards and code altering extremes scrambles for the Most kills to your name or shortest time to solo an entire 15 wave survival onslaught it’s honestly something i feel you will relish and get into pretty hard

I'm going to keep watching, but i think its funny how I'm told to grind out all the stances and abilities first. Then the very first tip is how to sheath my sword as if I wouldnt have figured it out within the first few mintutes of gameplay. Here's to the rest of the tips being better than that lol

If the quick attack is the same in every stance, why do you have to switch from quick attack in stone to heavy attack in water? What's the mechanic at play there? This vid is amazing btw!
What build and difficulty are you playing on? I want to try and replicate the combat you do in your examples but Jin ends up hitting enemy blocks after 3 slashes
So I've had this issue where ill be using water stance to bust someone's guard and the game will actually pause and make me change to the correct stance for that enemy type. Is there a way to stop this?

Well I didn't know I could cancel the spin with a jump. That is going to come in handy. I already love the jump kick but thats a nice use for it.

Perfect parry with a maxim sword upgrade and Armour damage you don't need to swap stances loll. You can also break shield with jump and foot kick.
But light attacks randomly draw from the same pool in every stance! How the hell does starting with a light attack in a different stance do anything?

I completely forgot to mention that and it is also safer to attack with triangle when surrounded, as It allows you yo parry and cancel mid attack
