A CV axle has flexible joints. Often, these joints wear out, or seize from contaminants due to the protective boot tearing open. A worn joint is prone to breakage, or other hazards. Well of course it was easy. All the parts were new and shiny. Nothing was frozen together with rust and whatnot
"loving bonks" is a new band name
Since this side is “longer” because when you pull the CV axle out, it still has the intermediate shaft connected you therefore need a lot more clearance to get this one out than your passenger side which is far more simpler. So yeah, take the WHOLE damn thing apart and pull it straight out. Take intermediate shaft out install on new axle, slide new in and re assemble everything.

I took a torch to the old CV axle last weekend, held the inner shaft with a welding glove and gave the CV axle some "bonks" with a hand sledge, it broke free after the 4th or 5th whack.
what size is the axle nut? i cant seem to find a straight answer
Put the intermediate shaft in first. I tried to put the axel and intermediate in all at once and destroyed the seal. Thanks for the help
According to the manual, the lower ball joint is first torqued at 35 foot pounds, then 140 to 160 foot pounds

what about if the lock ring inside the axle breaks first? The stub remains in the diff. How do you remove the stub from the diff housing?
except ball joints don't pop out with a bonk. I've had to hammer on them for hours or even cut them out. Other thanthat very good video. A "when ball joints won't release" segment would have made it more real world though.

What is the bearing inside that should be replaced? Having trouble finding the part. Or would you suggest replacing?

I found the upper ball joint didn’t torque properly until I had proper weight since it was only around 40lbs 👍
Also I have a very very regretful 2” puck lift and had to use a jack and ratchet strap to get upper ball joint in 🤦🏽 I didn’t change cv yet because it’s on the opposite side, just change the upper ball joint
what type of lubricant did you use?
Does the front diff need to be drained beforehand?
A mechanic told me some of these are weird and requires an update to the differential. Is that true? I'm really sick of being jerked around and robbed. He seems good but I wanted to ask the Internet at large. Any help is very very appreciated.
What size socket is the CV axle nut?
My 2015 ram has broken 4 cv axles in the last month. Does anyone have an idea of what might cause this?

I wanted to see that seal get changed. Is it same as rear axle seal, where u can just remove old one and put in new, or is there more to it for the front??

How do you remove the stub shaft if it didn’t come out with the axle? Mine needs replaced and having trouble getting it removed.
