Hi Christa, Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe - and I love the generous helpings of cinnamon and vanilla! I am SO with you on this!! And yes, I love how you said...a little sweetness is good. Too cute! I am so with you on that too!! And thank you for all the recommendations on how to use as well as store this lovely granola. And most important, I want to thank you for the Bible verse at the end. You always touch my heart with your readings. Thank you! And a very Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy, and Blessed New Year! Love, Mary

When we were young newlyweds my only meal-of the-day was raw oat flakes incorporated with butter and a little bit of dark brown sugar. Remember it fondly. Hubbie ate his one meal a day raw cabbage head and still loves slawed cabbage.

On your Granola recipe, does the finished product become Crisp after cooling or soft/chewy??
    I like my granola crispy.
I’m really loving your recipes so far and your “sweet” style.

Thank you, Richard! Mine turns out 80% crisp but relatively small chunks. You could add a bit more honey and turn the heat up a bit to get it more crisp and larger chunks if you like.

Cook oats with finely diced potatoes , diced beans, diced garlic .
    2. Season it with Salt .
    3. Heat a small pan on low heat.
Add oil / clarified ghee . To it add coarse black pepper + turmeric + any herb or herbs of your choice .
Pour this hot seasoning to the Hot cooked oats AND stir well .
You can add pumpkin seeds or a table spoon of cooked lentils / beans .
You can swap any vegetables of your choice to make it *yours* -
It makes a *savory* oatmeal .

This is great! Quite similar to my own recipe. Here's another thing to add from your forever pantry: 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk stirred into your dry ingredients. It adds nutrition and a nice hearty texture. Also, we add a couple of tablespoons sesame seeds as opposed to chia seeds. We just love the flavor!
I always cook the liquid ingredients on the stove because I melt 1/4 cup coconut sugar into the butter/oil, 1 TBSP maple syrup and 1 TBSP honey. We don't like it *too* sweet.
I love the idea of giving this as gifts! I always make a double batch and this would be easy to package and give as random acts of kindness.
Thank you for the idea! God bless you and yours!

non-contaminated, pure oats are gluten-free. They are safe for most people with gluten-intolerance. The main problem with oats in gluten-free eating is contamination. Most commercial oats are processed in facilities that also process wheat, barley, and rye.

Info on MCT oils and products look up MCT online found this. High Doses Could Lead to Fat Buildup in the Liver
However, keep in mind that high doses of MCT oil, such as those in the study above, are not recommended. Overall, more research is needed on the long-term effects of MCT oil. MCTs are high in calories and usually only make up about 5-10% of your total calorie intake.May 14, 2018Medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) are partially man-made fats. The name refers to the way the carbon atoms are arranged in their chemical structure. MCTs are generally made by processing coconut and palm kernel oils in the laboratory. Usual dietary fats, by comparison, are long-chain triglycerides. Is anything that man or scientist make healthy and how do they process it buy heating?? Which wouldn't that make it hydrogenated?? Anything that men are these scientists touch they screw up and claim it to be healthy. God bless you thought I'd give you a heads-up on this don't know about it I sure wouldn't take it after reading this. Hydrogenated oils are made by forcing hydrogen through them, this is a trans fatty acid then, & can only be a man made substance, it's not found naturally, so this is the unhealthy oil to substitute with a healthy one.

And yet you can tell the difference between cinnamons. WHY can't you tell the difference between Roundup and organic??

FYI: I worked a gastrointestinal unit as an RN. When we performed colonoscopies, the chia seeds would come through undigested. Spend you money on a more nutritional nut. Just my point of experience.

For those cant afford all the fancys...chopped walnuts and raisins are fine. Walnuts are cheapest nuts besides peanuts...not an actual nut. Raisins are cheapest dried fruit. If you cant put coconut in it, dont despair, its stilll tasty.
Butter is just fine too. And honey or even brown sugar works excellently.
Fancy schmancy is great but out of reach of most families, esp now.

I usually use Rolled oats.My recent batch I used the Organic rolled Oats and it was thicker and way tougher to chew. Back to rolled oats 😃😊

Like all except Saigon cinnamon as research has shown that it causes liver damage over time, prefer Ceylon cinnamon.

As always a great video. However, at first you called Himalayan pink salt, pink Himalayan sea salt. Not so my dear! Oopsie.

Came across this today cause i want to make my own granola. Yours sounds so delicious and will probably leave out the coconut cause my husband cannot eat it but will add date bites and dried cherries. Thank you for posting.

Considering the additions of oils would it really be shelf stable, or does cooking it take care of that issue? God bless, and Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!

May I recommend not to measure over your mixing bowl. My dad was making fudge one time, went to measure the salt and the lid came off of the salt and it spilled into the pan and ruined the fudge.
