I think a big Mason Jar full of this wonderful Granola would make a super Christmas gift with a pretty bow, gift tag and scoop. I would add in some dried, plump cranberries and maybe a few twirls of dark chocolate. It would certainly be a Special Christmas Mix!!! Thank you for the inspiration. ❤❤❤
We love granola, and I make it all the time. I use butter instead of coconut or other oil, and I like to add a tsp of vanilla and two beaten egg whites to the cooled butter/honey mixture. I also add raw cashews to the oats. As the baked granola is cooling, I add chopped unsweetened dried cherries and sometimes chopped prunes or raisins. The egg whites help the oats bind together, giving us chunks of granola instead of just individual oats. It also helps the cinnamon bind better. The butter adds a wonderful flavor, and we eat it very quickly, so I'm not concerned about any potential rancidity from the butter. We love it on top of vanilla Greek yogurt topped with frozen blueberries - that's a favorite breakfast in our house!
Hi Sarah, made this recipe last night and the house was filled with wonderful smells of granola baking. My husband and I had a small bowl when it was finished and we liked it very much. Thank you for the recipe.
Looks delicious. When I mix up mine, the only difference is that I add a teaspoon of vanilla to the oil/honey mixture before adding it to my big bowl. Gods' blessings on your family. 💗💗💗
The chopping process is one of my favorite things to do and I generally don't use my food processor unless there is a large amount needing chopped. I can't wait to try your recipe. Granola at the store is so expensive. For a little time and work people can save a lot of money if they have been buying it pre made. On tip I would offer is to be sure dried fruit doesn't have an oil on it that can go rancid. Dried cranberries, which would be awesome in this, are normally coated with oil to keep them from sticking together from the added sugar they contain. Coconut shreds would be wonderful to add...they would roast up nicely during baking. I might add pistachios, pecans, or blanched sliced almonds...or my favorite hazelnuts! Roasted nuts add so much flavor. Thanks for the inspiration and recipe Sarah ❤
Sara, I learned by accident, that chopping nuts of any kind works best on a tea towel or cup towel. I fold mine so I have a couple of thicknesses. What the towel does is keep the nut meats from flying away.then I just pick up the towel by two corners and let the nuts slide into the bowl. Shake the towel and toss it in the wash.
Oh that's why ALL my canned tomatoes had seepage! I was bumfuzzled! Thanks for the tip! Samantha! You are precious and from your tee-shirt I see your humble too! The best self esteem builder is in learning how to do stuff. That accomplishment builds confidence way more than keeping up with the latest fashion and things that "cosmo magazine" would have you think is important.
So excited to try we just purchased a dehydrator so going to do some fruit then while I am in the kitchen waiting for my canner to get done I can do this. So busy now canning tomatoes green beans and pickles. Thank you for the recipe I enjoy when you put them out, this will be good for us for snacks.
Sarah almonds are a good omega 3 for cholesterol and inflammation. Also blueberries would be great for same reason. Thanks for sharing this yummy recipe!
Hi Sarah, the granola looked yummy. I look forward to trying your recipe. A few items I have used in my granola recipes are amaranth, sesame seeds, flaked coconut, pecans, cranberries and dried cherries. The combinations are endless. Healthy and Yummy! Thanks for sharing.
I like to add dried cranberries, sliced almonds and dried coconut flakes into my homemade granola. I also put flax and chia seeds in it and once I added some pumpkin seeds and put some pumpkin puree and spices in the oil and honey mixture and it was really good!
You are a natural in front of the camera Sarah. With cold weather on the way, I will start to make baked oatmeal - almost all the same ingredients as granola, with the addition of milk, eggs, and diced apple then baked in the oven and eaten warm.
To our granola, I love to add Cran-raisins, ground flax, almonds, &/or shredded coconut. I'm a 'pumpkin spice' lover, so I'll make a batch with pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie spice, & *wait for it* vanilla extract! Hellooooo fall!!
What a great video! How do you keep your baking pans SO clean and shiny! Easy and delish! Tons of things could change it up - raisins, dried pineapple, grated coconut...slivered almonds...endless things...Love the idea! Bet if you made enough of different varieties, it would sell good as well at farmer's market!
That sounds super yummy Sarah! Great food for super nice people. And I do love Andrea and Ben over at VW Family Farm. They have the hardest working teenagers😇👍
Love this. I do this at home. No peanuts tho. I use pecans or almonds. We add cranberries and less honey. We also add hemp seed, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and sometimes dark chocolate pieces. It never lasts long in our home.
just wanted to say thanks, i used to make granola years ago each and every month, well thanks again for the reminder, it came out just wonderfully and my kids are so excited too, :)
I just made a tropical granola by adding dried pineapple, mango, papaya and shredded coconut. I like to change the flavors with every batch so we don't get bored eating the same thing all the time and its fun making new flavor combinations.
Your other recipe for granola breakfast cereal is a staple in our house. I make it about once a month, sometimes twice a month! And there's only 2 of us! It's so good! My mom wants some, my kid and grandkids love it with peanut butter or peanut butter powder. Thank you for another recipe!
I would like to be on a road trip with that. Looks amazing and you know all the ingredients that went in it along with a Wife/Mothers love that went into making it. Enjoy your time together.
❤ Awesome video! Great granola recipe! I would need to exchange the peanuts or almonds for another nut…allergic to both of those… You are an awesome teacher…step by step! Your family is SO blessed to have you… Almighty God bless you too…SO very much! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a fun recipe!! We also love to make granola with pumpkin puree (real pumpkin .. lol) . Sweetened with real maple syrup and coconut sugar. Seasoned with cinnamon etc. We always tinker with recipes but that combo is a family fav.
Thank you for sharing that wonderful recipe with us today Sarah. I think I will add some chia seeds and unsweetened coconut. One I love coconut in my granola and chia seeds have protein. I am hypoglycemic and I have to be balance those sugars and protein. I can't wait to try this with my family. Bless you and your family for putting yourselves out there for all of us to enjoy. Cheers!
We use to use half rolled oats and half rolled rye (couldn't find an English word for that). Intead of coconut oil we use canola oil. And if you want to use a different seasoning we like to use ginger bread seasoning, only ginger or cardamom. Really yummy.
In Britain we have something call flapjack ( it’s not pan cakes like American flapjack) which is made with rolled oats. It’s like a traybake version of granola and can be cut into bars. This may be more conducive to a travel snack than granola. If you want to try it let me know and I’ll post the recipe xx
Here are my three favourites recipes- the kids love them and all three can be added to using different fruits, nuts seeds, flavouring etc. Sorry the measurements are in weights not cups but I’m sure you’ll be able to convert accordingly: Fruity flapjack (no sugar) Ingredients * 200g dried dates * 100g dried figs * 200g porridge oats (rolled oats) * 75g cranberries * 75g blueberries * 2 tbsp flax seeds * 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon * 1/2 tsp vanilla extract * 2 tbs pumpkin seeds * 1 tbs honey Method: Preheat the oven to 200°C (gas mark 6/400°F). Roughly chop the dates and figs. Pop them into a pan and just cover with water. Simmer for 30 minutes until you have a sticky gooey mixture. Meanwhile, spread the oats over a large baking tray and toast in the oven for 5-10 minutes until pale brown. Leave to cool while you prepare the rest of the ingredients. Once the dates and figs are ready, pour them into a large bowl and add the cranberries, blueberries and flax seeds. Stir well to combine then leave to stand for 10 minutes. Turn the oven back on, this time to 150°C (gas mark 2/300°F). Line a tin with baking paper (leaving an overhang of paper for easy removal). Stir the remaining ingredients into the bowl and mix well. Tip the mixture into the tin and press down well with the back of a spoon. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden Leave to cool a little before slicing into pieces. Put in an airtight container to store (if it lasts that long) You can use other combinations of berries, dried fruit, nuts and seeds and even choc chips to suit your tastes but you need some combination of dates and figs to act as binding agent. MARMALADE FLAPJACKS Ingredients * 250g Porridge Oats (rolled oats) * 1 tsp Cinnamon * pinch salt * 1/2 tsp Baking Powder (not soda) * 125g Butter * 75g Golden Caster Sugar * 1 heaped Tbsp Golden Syrup (corn syrup?) * 100g + 50g Orange Marmalade (I use homemade) Method Preheat the oven to 150°C (gas mark 2/300°F and Line a 20 x 30cm cake tin with nonstick baking paper. Melt together the butter, sugar, syrup and 100g of marmalade over a low heat in a good sized pan. Stir in the oats, cinnamon, baking powder and salt and mix until well combined. Tip into the prepared tin and smooth with the back of a metal spoon. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden. Melt the remaining 50g of marmalade and paint it over the top with a pastry brush. Cut into bars whilst still warm, but don't attempt to remove until completely cool. Apple flapjacks 10 mins to prepare and 25-30 mins to cook Ingredients * 250g butter * 250g caster sugar * 175g golden syrup * 425g porridge oats * 2 apples, peeled, cored and chopped into small cubes Method Preheat oven to gas mark 4, 180ºC, fan160°C. Line a 20 x 30cm cake tin with nonstick baking paper. Melt butter, caster sugar and golden syrup together in a pan, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in oats and apples. Spread mixture in tin and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cut into 12-14 bars; allow to cool before turning out of the tin. Tip: If you find the flapjack too moist, try grating the apples and squeezing out any excess juice before adding it into the mix. You can also replace 2 apples with 1 apple and 50g dried apple. Hope you have a go they’re really easy and great for snacks or breakfast on the go. My grandson likes the marmalade ones as he’s a great fan of Paddington Bear xxx enjoy xxx
Chopped dried cranberries would be super 😋 yummy and with the holidays coming up there will be a lot of cranberry’s in stores soon. You could also use pumpkin seeds in place of the other nuts for a little different flavor.
When you get those marked down cranberries, dehydrate several bags and add those to it. The ones you can buy all of them have added sugar. Many years ago I could buy plain organic dried cranberries but no longer.
Dried peaches and nutmeg is good. Apples and cinnamon. Orange cranberry (so good)! Just make sure to fine grate orange zest and rub it into the sugar to pull out the natural oils and flavor. Also roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin pie spice. Another great video! I was going to pull the last of the summer garden and plant my fall starts, but now I'm making granola first.
I haven't done it (prefer loose granola), but just before they are fully toasted you'd mix in some egg whites and press into the pan. This will give you bars. The number of egg whites depends on the amount of oats you're using, of course. Also, vanilla, coconut flakes, dried papaya, and dried pineapple are a few of my favorite add-ins. This will be really good with your future yogurt from Hope's milk!
Mmmm, I love granola! Can't wait to try this. You wanted to know some more ideas... pumpkin seeds, peanut butter, dried pineapple, maybe raisins, cashews, yogurt covered raisins... Mmmm all kinds of things you could mix in.
Hi Ms Sara good to get to see y'all again. Just a hint brown sugar is simply cane sugar with molasses mixed in for the color. Light molasses of course for light darker for dark. Fiction and fact from Debbie's almanac. 😜😄
You're such an innovative and hard working, driven lady. When your hubby was out of commission for a bit, you kept everything running...no small feat. You are such a wonderful and an inspiration...I enjoy all your videos. Thank you. If I wanted to make bars rather than the loose mix, would additional honey/ molasses do the trick? Thank you!
Dates, for sure! I make sure to chop them up really really well & use my greased hands to mix it all together. Additional honey will just make them gooey vs a bar you can hold.
LOOKS GREAT! I will tell you one thing I miss about AZ. is "SPROUTS" grocery store. I used to get the 50 lb. bags of organic rolled oats for cheap! Sarah,I am going to make beef jerky in my presto dehydrator. Thanx for tip on that kitchen gadget,I'm also going to do fruit and potatoes! And if you go to Hobby Lobby (an hour drive for me) they have plastic screens for cross stitching and you can make your own tray screens! OH,and sesame seeds(toasted) in the granola is wonderful!
I also make my own granola and I use peanut butter instead of oil (or a mix of peanut butter + another nut butter like almond). I use puffed brown rice or quinua to replace some of the oats, which makes the end result even crunchier. I always varry my mix-ins, but try to include more seeds like chia, pumpkin and flax, and a variety of nuts and fruit (dried cranberries, almonds, Brazil nuts, walnuts and more). It's all over the place, but I like the surprises when I eat it 😃 Last tip, is to use some vanilla to the whole thing. The easiest way is to grind your brown sugar with a piece of vanilla pod, or use powdered pods. A pinch is enough to give everything a lovely scent
Along with the apples and bananas we add papaya, strawberries, mango, coconut, and pineapple to ours. We buy unsweetened toasted coconut chips, but we dehydrated our own fruit. This year we have started growing pineapples from the tops of the ones we have purchased
Reminds me of when I would visit my Mother-in-law. She had food sensitivities and this was perfect for her. Have you ever made your own brown sugar? So good. You can get the unsulphured blackstrap molasses at Azure and use your own sugar and mix it in your kitchen aid. I use 8 cups of sugar and about 1 cup molasses (about 2 Tablespoons per cup) More molasses if you want it darker. Just mix it and store it in one of your jars.
Ooh, this is awesome! I love granola but it's so unreasonably expensive, so I rarely buy it. I always have those ingredients on hand, though. Aldi had some soft-baked granola with pear and filberts last year that was just amazing. I'd be thrilled to have that around always. I haven't tried to make it yet because I've been a little intimidated, but it actually seems like a breeze. I will definitely be trying this very soon. Thanks, Sarah! I'm really looking forward to hopefully seeing you at the thing today! I just moved to Fairland three days ago and a neighbor told me about the event. What a fantastic surprise! Thanks again for the granola tutorial!
Great recipe! We love granola! That will be delicious with your homemade yogurt from your family milk cow!😃 We like Golden raisins or cranberries, dried blueberries, pineapple, mango, unsweetened shredded coconut, dark chocolate chunks. The list is endless! ❤️
The granola looks delicious. You could even bake cookies with the leftovers. Dried cranberries, chopped dates and pumpkin seeds would add a nice taste and color. Safe travels.
Yep!.... used to LOVE adding dates into ours that we made growin' up also..... IF we could keep from eating them whole long enough to put them in the granola, that is.... LOL. ;-)

I love how you explain this recipe
Easy to follow.
Love Andrea & Ben they are great ❤️ dried raisins and cranberries to the Granola wonderful😋
Yeap was going to tell her the same thing on the rasins and cranberrys. Plus add Pumpkin seeds..
No raisin ☹🤢😂
Oh yeah thats what i was thinking it will be very tasty, and also pineapple and coconut. It would compliment the coconut oil flavor.😋❤
Plus dried blueberries and strawberries. Yum.
We'll try it..the kids love it.
Looks delicious. When I mix up mine, the only difference is that I add a teaspoon of vanilla to the oil/honey mixture before adding it to my big bowl. Gods' blessings on your family. 💗💗💗

Thanks for the video. Who knew granola was so easy to make? I think dried coconut with banana and nuts would be great.

We love your granola recipe. It is very easy to make your own brown sugar with molasses and sugar.
Yes! 1 cup sugar, 1 T molasses for dk brown.
Sarah, thanks a lot for including the entire recipe in the description to include the instructions, thanks a million!
Oh that's why ALL my canned tomatoes had seepage! I was bumfuzzled! Thanks for the tip! Samantha! You are precious and from your tee-shirt I see your humble too! Beautiful recipe. Sounds absolutely scrumptious. I will definitely try it. Thanks guys, and God Bless you all.
Sounds great, thanks! Dried cranberries, raisins, dried blueberries and possibly carob chips!
Yes, raisins, golden raisins, and cranberries would be wonderful add ins. Thanks so much for sharing your great videos! Have fun on your day trip!!

I have added Carob chips or powdered carob. Nice treat to have is dried figs or dates. Can add dried prunes for that "extra help".
Good morning! Great recipe for granola. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your trip. God bless
We love this recipe! Since I'm a beekeeper, we added a little more honey and added some flaked coconut. So good!
Sarah almonds are a good omega 3 for cholesterol and inflammation. Also blueberries would be great for same reason. Thanks for sharing this yummy recipe!

I would add, raisins and dries cranberries ! Thank you for sharing Sarah ! Looks so delicious !
That sounds super yummy Sarah! Great food for super nice people. And I do love Andrea and Ben over at VW Family Farm. They have the hardest working teenagers😇👍
We made up snack bags with home dehydrated bananas, watermelon, raisins and peaches. Needless to say they didn’t last long!
I like egg whites mixed in it makes the granola shiny and you get some clumps that are so fun to eat...enjoy
Love this. I do this at home. No peanuts tho. I use pecans or almonds. We add cranberries and less honey. We also add hemp seed, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds and sometimes dark chocolate pieces. It never lasts long in our home.
Cranberries for sure. Love all dried fruit but especially berries.
I love this recipe. I think I'll add dried cranberries and walnuts. Thank you for sharing.
just wanted to say thanks, i used to make granola years ago each and every month, well thanks again for the reminder, it came out just wonderfully and my kids are so excited too, :)

Elizabeth Prior this is one of my favourite tray bakes either for me to make or the children. Yummm!😊
Yes please share your recipe Elizabeth, thank you
I would like to have the recipe. Thank you in advance.
Here are my three favourites recipes- the kids love them and all three can be added to using different fruits, nuts seeds, flavouring etc. Sorry the measurements are in weights not cups but I’m sure you’ll be able to convert accordingly:
Fruity flapjack (no sugar)
Ingredients
* 200g dried dates
* 100g dried figs
* 200g porridge oats (rolled oats)
* 75g cranberries
* 75g blueberries
* 2 tbsp flax seeds
* 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
* 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
* 2 tbs pumpkin seeds
* 1 tbs honey
Method:
Preheat the oven to 200°C (gas mark 6/400°F).
Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden
Leave to cool a little before slicing into pieces.
Put in an airtight container to store (if it lasts that long)
You can use other combinations of berries, dried fruit, nuts and seeds and even choc chips to suit your tastes but you need some combination of dates and figs to act as binding agent.

Thanks so much for sharing your recipes as well!
I get my food grade buckets from Kroger for free from the bakery. I have stacks of them.
I get mine from a local Burger King...I have to wash and air them as they had pickles...but 5 gallon buckets for Free!!! So worth it.
Chopped dried cranberries would be super 😋 yummy and with the holidays coming up there will be a lot of cranberry’s in stores soon. You could also use pumpkin seeds in place of the other nuts for a little different flavor.
My mom used to make something similar back in the 1970's. She added flaked coconut and mini chocolate chips...yum!!🙏
I love chopped dried apricots and I add vanilla bean in oil honey mix
Raisins, craisins, dried apricots, (or peaches, pineapple, mango, cantaloupe?, watermelon?) chocolate chips are a must have.
This recipe sounds amazing! I like raisins in my granola so I would probably add some of those in as well.
This looks yummy...raisins/cranberries and M&Ms would be good too! 💕
I really love blueberry pecan granola. I have a recipe much like yours.
Add- in's Chia seeds, flax seeds, quinoa, rolled spelt, rolled amaranth, vanilla, maple syrup
Yep!.... forgot about the flax seeds.... used to use those in ours growin' up as well. ;-)
Thank you!
i have used dates to bind ingredients together to make a bar. Delicious!
I've heard to use egg whites, stir through almost finished loose granola and press into the pan, then bake some more.
Dates, for sure! I make sure to chop them up really really well & use my greased hands to mix it all together. Additional honey will just make them gooey vs a bar you can hold.
Looks great! I love cranberries with my granola , walnuts and almonds.
My favorite granolas are almond/vanilla and pumpkin spice (pumpkin seeds, pecans, vanilla, and pumpkin pie spice)
Mind sharing your recipes
I would love this recipe also please
I had no idea that banana chips at the store were fired. Thank you for pointing that out. I can't wait to try this!
I love raisins and coconut in mine
That granola looks like a winner -- will make some for my family. Thanks for sharing.
Hi from the UK. I recently found your channel. I will definitely be trying this recipe as I eat granola everyday with sliced banana on top.
I like it with shredded coconut and raisins and sometimes add peanut butter to the oil instead of peanuts.
Looks great.....Ill have to make for my grand kids!
Sarah, YUMMM this looks fantastic! I might try dates and raisins, as they are a fav in our family but the rest is right on it!!! thanks for sharing!
We add all sorts of dried fruit plus flax seed with our granola. Love this recipe. Will try it soon.
Baby choc chips and raisins! Enjoy. Yummy..
Craisins, almonds, cashews, chocolate chips, cinnamon chips, so many options!!!
Oh Sarah that all looks wonderful the only thing I can think that would make it better is if those little chocolate chips
It's all over the place, but I like the surprises when I eat it 😃
Last tip, is to use some vanilla to the whole thing. The easiest way is to grind your brown sugar with a piece of vanilla pod, or use powdered pods. A pinch is enough to give everything a lovely scent
Thanks for letting us know about azure standard
I use organic maple syrup instead of honey in my granola, so good.❤❤😋😋😊
Along with the apples and bananas we add papaya, strawberries, mango, coconut, and pineapple to ours. We buy unsweetened toasted coconut chips, but we dehydrated our own fruit. This year we have started growing pineapples from the tops of the ones we have purchased
Perfect for our next hurricane evacuation. Ugh I never want fast food again lol
Love when you’re in the kitchen! I add dried cranberries, almonds, and pumpkin seeds for a real fall treat! An anytime treat!
Sarah you could make your own brown sugar. With white organic and molasses. ❤
My favorite it is dehydrated apricot peaches sunflower seeds and pumpkin seed and all of the other ingredients. Mmmmmmm😊😍👍😳
Nice! Yeah.....raisins! I’d love some chew in that mixture.
Thank you for sharing! Have a great time tomorrow!
I would love a video on how you dehydrate apples and bananas
Looks yummy! I would try real maple syrup as a sweetener in place of one of the other ones. thanks for sharing. I will be trying this in a few days.
Great recipe! We love granola! That will be delicious with your homemade yogurt from your family milk cow!😃 We like Golden raisins or cranberries, dried blueberries, pineapple, mango, unsweetened shredded coconut, dark chocolate chunks. The list is endless! ❤️
Bellessentials Handmade I put homemade granola w/instant pot yogurt in my husbands lunch every day! Yummy
That sounds so good!!🤤
Great recipie. I enjoy all the videos thank you.
The granola looks delicious. You could even bake cookies with the leftovers. Dried cranberries, chopped dates and pumpkin seeds would add a nice taste and color. Safe travels.
Dried cranberries, walnuts, almonds, dates, apricots. If something sweet is desired, try some M&M's. Looks good.
Yep!.... used to LOVE adding dates into ours that we made growin' up also..... IF we could keep from eating them whole long enough to put them in the granola, that is.... LOL. ;-)
