I just got my S1 today (upgraded from the D1) and I love it! I just tried this with the walnut my husband uses to make cutting boards and it came out perfect! I followed you step by step and made a walnut coaster with a "W" inlay. Thank you for the amazing instruction.
I just started another inlay project that is the word "peace" in script. There are closed areas so when I use the outline function and set the 0.1 offset, it doesn't capture the closed inner parts of the text. Are you aware of any way to do this in XCS? @@woodworkingwithSkyler
When we sand we put whatever we are sanding on something like this. It works great! Hope this helps! Non-Adhesive Shelf Liners for Kitchen Cabinets, Thick Strong Grip Liners for Desk, Shelves, Bathroom Drawers, Cabinet Protection
Is the 40 watt laser worth the increased cost? Is a big cost adjustment. Also, you should get some bench cookies from Rockler. They will keep the wood in place while you are sanding.
this video came just at the right time, i am ready to buy a laser and was convinced that I needed the P2 and F1 because I want to do mainly marquetry and engraving on metal but I can now see that the S1 40W with the 2w infra red module will do just as well and save me some money to buy more materials. Thanks
@@nijl3d s1 40 w is definitely my first choice and the one I decided to keep for myself. If you end up buying one, please consider using my affiliate link from description below. To no extra cost to you, I earn a small commission
Love your work. I am in Australia, so you know how far you get watched. Question: do you sell these boxes you make? They are fantastic! Love all the videos you make.
Before making a laser purchase I’ve been trying to educate myself as much as possible so that I get the right machine. I stumbled on your videos last night, fantastic information btw. One question - can the S1 20W get the same inlay results as the 40W?
Really nice work. Very well done! 🤩 I like it very much, but could you please tell me from where you get the vector design which you are using. Have bought the xtool S1 too and would like to test with the same design like you. Thanks in advance! Regards, Timo
Love your helpful videos. Definitely considering the laser. Can you go much deeper than 1/8” for you insert? I like to inlay various resin designs in my wooden bowls but need to inlay deeper than 1/8”. Since you are burning the recess it must generate a lot of smoke and heat? Stay safe.
:) in the first part of engraving ( making the pocket) was off because I had it off while I was talking you you guys can hear me clearly and forgot to turn it back on. However when you cut deep pockets like this you will always get some but you can just wipe it away with isopropyl alcohol or light sanding
Been struggling with the price tag on lasers. But this feature would really be a nice addition to the wood shop. Is the 40w needed for this type of work? Well done!!
No. A 20W can do this too. 40 W is needed if need to cut material thicker then 1/4 in. Also 40W is double faster then 20W. But for inlay you get same final result with both of them
I have a 10 watt Longer Ray 5 and have 1/4,thick Baltic Birch for inlays not and issue at all. The beam on my laser is smaller than most a .06mm compared to most at .010
Outstanding! I'll be trying an inlay soon!

Very nice laser inlay project. Thank you for sharing. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Thanks Norm
Awesome inlay! There'll be a bit of a learning curve but worth the effort...especially after I saw the results! Beautiful Sky!
@@BernRuelas thank you. I have tons of videos on this laser. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help

Great job! How many tries to get the depth just right? Do you have any tricks or another video to share?
Well done and a very nice piece, inlays just make projects that little bit more special
Very true!

@@jimromansr9971 if you are going to do cutting, yes. For engraving 20 is plenty

Thank you. No I dont sell them as I feel they are not perfect. Working on it... maybe one day...
Is that cat inlay file available anywhere?

That turned out fantastic. Looks very professorial!
Thank you very much!
Great video! Did you say 0.01 or 0.1 mm on the Outline?
I wondered that too but you can check the specs on your laser head and use that
nice work, im learning alot
Wondering, have you ever tried an epoxy inlay ??
No, but will do it soon
A great video. I’m a huge Moment fan and current have 5 of their lenses. Looking forward to getting my iPhone15 ProMax
Excellent demo, thank you! I'll definitely try this as soon as my engraver arrives!
2 drops for each would be good :)

Its just a photo that I downloaded from google images and traced it in lightburn. I will make a video on how I made this
Cool, that would be great. Thanks! 👍☺@@woodworkingwithSkyler

So- do you recommend the X tool or longer unit? Thks
They are both great. I prefer Xtool. If I didn’t have the Xtool s1, my second choice would be longer b1 40w
THANK YOU! I seen some soot around the cats head and tail; was the air assist on auto?

Absolutely perfect I love that
Thank you
Wow! Thank you for sharing!
Nice job!
looks great...but the discount code does not work once in the shopping cart.
I think if you buy now you get the 500$ off. Starting soon the discount of $200 will work as soon as the price goes back to normal
Thanks so much for sharing your skills. Great video!!!
My pleasure!
Interesting work. Thanks.
Just bought one, wish I would have known about your code!
I think you will be very happy with this laser

I went from wanting to engrave, straight to the thoughts of motorboating 😮
WOW ❤
Amazing!
Awesome! Thanks

WOW! You look great today! What a beauty....
Oh thank you!
Who's looking at the Laser?
What Laser?
Code doesn't work. It's only for after the price goes up and you lose the freebies I guess.
Thats a bummer. I guess is $500 off now or $200 off later. I didnt know that
Whoa! Seriously?
