Those were some of the best tones in the opening you've had in a while. The dirtier the better!
I was in Andertons before Xmas, passing by as my work takes me all over the UK. I wanted to come into the store to indulge in some expensive guitars in the 'lounge'. I played stuff from the Custom Shop Korina V to PRS Paul`s Guitar and the stand out was a little Cub in the demo room. I drove away thinking about it and ended up ringing up and they had a B-Stock one for about £500 off. Couldn`t pass on it!
So happy I went for it as its been fantastic. Took it to an open mic i was hosting with my duo partner and ended up having one of my first ever impromptu jam with another musician. It already feels like 'my amp' as it just has great sounds in all settings and modes. Thanks Andertons and BadCat for helping with my musical journey!
That is what's up. Nothing better than getting a bargain and playing live music :)
My Cub 30 is one of the very best amps I've ever played. I've owned way to many amps, so that's saying a lot.
One of my bandmates has a Black Cat Cub that he has left at my house for a few weeks. It sounds amazing. I will be sad when he takes it home. I was in the UK in March and visited Anderton’s. What a wonderful music store. Can’t wait to go back.
Those gain sounds are just perfection. Not fiddling, no twiddling, just ROCK!
Pete and the Captain are getting in some pretty good licks on those Bad Cats.
I see what you did there
I give up, what did I do? .@@jesperjacobsen2463
I love this channel. I think these guys are great and very informative.
I love these guys, especially Lee's guitar, very good choice, I have the same ❤️ Thank you for all your videos, your tests of guitars, effects, amps and thank you for your joy of living
I wish you, all Anderton team a happy new year, all the best for 2024
THAT LYNX IS A REAL BADASS AMP FOR IT SIZE GUYS, LOVED THE VID.
Certainly , No Dear Mother!!! Wonderful demo. I love the long from guitar demos and content. Thank you so much Andertons team.
Love Bad Cat amps and love your demos !! 🙂🤘
Got myself a 2x12 Hot Cat cab to pair up with an ENGL Fireball 60w and boy the cab just gives all the lovely cleans, hard rock, and metal sounds that I need!
This just made my night, Awesome rock tones boys!! I'm excited to get my Jet Black head next week
I still remember the video where Lee went shopping for his LesPaul and spent a ton of time trying various ones. I remember thinking at the time I didn't personally like the tones from that one as much, but now... Wow! 🎉
Good stuff! Sounds wonderful!
31:22 - hark at that lick! Scorching stuff Captain! 🔥
That amp sounds stunning , love both your playing aswell , and awesome guitars as always ! Great video !
Btw: love captains speaking ! Moderney , marshalley , led zeppleney , vintagey 😂
Holy feckulite !!! These amp’s sound absolutely awesome !!! Oooooosh !! 😍😍👌
lol!
Always wanted one of these amps
I already have a Bad Cat, but this makes me want another!
I bought a fantastic Magnatone Super 15 from Andertons but now I want a Bad Cat! Think I'll take a trip to Andertons. The staff where super helpful on my last trip.
The Lynx sounds SOOOO good! Tasty!
Great video demo/review guys! Been watching and listening long enough that I trust what i'm hearing and these are some great sounding amps. I bought my Friedman Little Sister after watching your demo of it and the PT20 and I'm just in love with it. The problem we have today is there are so many great amps available buy my wallet can't keep up.
Just be happy with your great Amps then 😊
Loved these amps since hearing the Stereophonics back in 97!
I have the old school first gen Bad Cat Cub2R 15 watts single 23. By itself it is a nice example of class A tone and can do many things. Run it through a 4 x 10 cabinet and get the amp flowing at 4 ohms and the super hero is released. Not sure about the latest models but the old hand wired tanks are awesome
I was thinking "La Grange" from about the third bar of the intro jam ;) Picked up my guitar and jammed along wherever Pete left "space". 🤘
Love these amps also! So much I bought one last month. The Cub.
How do you like the Cub?
Sounds great gentlemen ! 👍🎸
indeed amazing sounding amps imo !!👍
These amps sound killer! Great players help too!
Love the sound of BlackCat amps. I do miss the Cat eye’s though.
Great Intro. I love this Gold Tele😮😮
Sounds beautiful. I wish i could try one someday. That Jet Black and the Black Cat are SEXY
I have the Lynx 50 head and its a metal machine new school or old school metal it has it covered . Really great amp at a not so horrible price point.
I want one but my wife will probably leave me after the Christmas " How much guitar gear do you really need" conversation.
Always more 😂
I assume you're talking about wives as well.
Lee, When you say "it's got that sound of a British sounding amp" I have to comment...fifty years ago when my whole band was playing through Silvertone amps, they were 6L6s and 12ax7s which I still have in my Mesa Rectifier...I love them because I can get any clean, or dirty sound I want, and there's not a British stick or straw in 'em.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Bad Cat and all those HiWatt things you guys have enjoyed forever. PeteTownshend and Danish Pete Forever!! And I love some of your licks, too Lee! I think Anderton's
is phenomenology! The old Sears Silvertones sold for $100 back in the 60s and today you can't touch them for under $1000. Jensen 12"
Speakersx2. We called them Silvertone Twin Twelves..sort of a poor man's Fender rig. But I'll hold my Mesa Single Rectifier up against any amp nowadays. (I'm that 73 year old Bloomfield bio geezer from Portland)
That’s so crazy - when Lee was ripping it towards the end, I thought man I wonder if Pete ever thinks damn Lee is getting really good. And then Pete said ‘you’ve been practicing.’ That was awesome!
20:30 that's the most beautiful Les Paul tone I think I've ever heard. ❤
that les paul grumbling in the opening jam is heaven - Lee's Les Paul is incred!!! which one is that? Ye Gods!
The Lynx sounds nice!!! 70`s hard rock tone.
I have one of the new Lynx heads, and it is, unquestionably one of the best hi-gain amps I've ever heard. INSANE levels of gain but high as hell. Plus un-like every other hi-gain amp, a gorgeous clean channel.
Try a Hiwatt DR103 head with your favorite cabinet, and you will sell your Bad Cat immediately!
@@p6x2 Try the Lynx and youll realize thats a silly comment.
@@p6x2 at ~$3,499 (almost 2x the price of a Lynx) it better make you feel that way.
Great intro.
26:13 Yeah man! these are SO good lol
27:03 Lee: I really like the jam at the beginning, the two amps really complimented eachother
Pete: just like you and me!
Haha, you joke, but you guys really do... that's a part of what makes watching this channel so great
Keep rockin' guys! 😆🤘🎸❤🔥
Love my Hot Cat. Two channels but is one amp. 1st channel can do gain so great with fuzzes & the boost takes you to vox territory.
Since I am a complete nerd when it comes to these sort of things, I read an article with the owner of Badcat and his pal a few years ago. - "I don't know" "I just don't get it" "I just can't get over the hump with the tone on this amp". / His pal - (A bigshot Aerospace engineer) said - "Let me have a look at that amp". "Well I see your problem right away". I'm not sue if you can find these articles now, but I found them a few years ago...
Those sound so good, your sound reminds me of Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
If it's built well, porting and all, the larger cab is likely providing a big part of the bass response they're noticing?
That Jet Black, especially with that tele to my ear, sounds incredible. Really like that. Great video guys. Would love to hear a comparison of the head/cab and the combo. I have a hard time justifying the cost given my experience and use case, however, as someone who longs for a **truly** minimalist rig (not the "modeler" minimalist, but the "one amp and a pedal or two" style), when all things are added up, it's not as "bad" as one might think compared to something like a good modeler, a good frfr, maybe a decent amp, and a couple of pedals. As someone who loves the idea of modelers but just can't get into the menu diving and complexity, investing in a great and versatile amp might not be as out there as I originally thought. Necessary for me? Not even close. Reasonable? Probably not either. But maybe, just maybe. :)
I used to hsve the black cat 30. I hated it. It sounded great but ate tubes and took a ton of them anway. 17 to be exact. That black cat 20 is different, and Cap playing the les paul through it gave me some serious GAS. great demo boys
Why no Hot Cat though? That's a stunning amp
it would be cool to hear an 'amps review video' (or any review vid) that also incorporated a whole band jam - just to get a feel of it with its brothers and sisters in tow!! just an idea :)
I have the Black Cat paired with a core Silver Sky 🤌🤌🤌
It's a great video about those amps. Which one, out of all amps in the world, would Pete buy if he had to have just one? Money is no object.
I think he’s said a Dual Rec in the past
How well do those amps take pedals compared to VOX AC15? Do modern amps take pedals better than before?
32:18 😂😂 Man, I love Pete haha
Lee its time to bring the west ham cab back!
How do you compare the Black Cat Cub, Hotcat vs the Tone King Royalist MK3. Which one do you prefer? I'm looking for a new el34 amp for Rock , Country and Blues.
cub or black cat for me - cant decide which. I like the Suhr PT15 as well though...... My favorite amp Ive played is Suhrs Badger 18 - but I need onboard reverb.
I have a Cub and a P15. I like the Cub cleans way better than the Suhr. Both killer amps but the Bad Cat sounds more like the type of guitar your playing. It's an over used word but it's transparent. I can get the sound of the Suhr high gain on the Cub with my Strymon Riverside pedal. Also the Cub has beautiful reverb. It's just a special amp.
Hi, So beginner guitar player with a multi effect unit, what should he pick for speaker, 1. PA speaker 2. Studio monitors or 3. Passive guitar cabinet with some amp pedal or head, the 3rd option might be the most expensive depending what you pick but also if you use a guitar cabinet then you don't need to use IR . I don't know if this would be an interesting topic.
An FRFR speaker is also an option to consider, or at least look into the advantages over a full range flat response over just a PA speaker. They’re supposed to be more true to the sound
Jesus Christ..... That Lynx! What an amp.
CRISP is the word for this awesome amp yo !!!
what was that intro ... sounded awesome
Maaan, that Les Paul is pretty. I must have one just like it ASAP.
track two guitars in a mix with a track from the stack, and then then cab and it would sound effing great. combo is more low mid and slightly scooped/raspy whereas the stack sounded bright and kinda “honkey” like a marshall, except less fizzy.
I LOVE MY CUB40R
Nice 👍
Der er ingen kære mor, Pete! I agree - a very "snappy amp!"
YOU GUYS NEED TO DO A SHOOTOUT WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT PRS SE MODELS!!!!!!!!!
Peter Arends IS one of two guys running the company "Ampete" here in Germany... 😉
I would love it if all these demo's would switch to room sound. Everything miced up gives a good mixing tone, but doesn't give away the amp in room sound/vibe.
I love the Bad Cat lineup (so much great gear these days) but my real question is where can I get those stools ya'll are sitting on? I have two different stools and they both suck.
Captn' rippin on some Zepp vibes.
Is that an Anderton's db record? That baby was screamin!
I play through my 1976 all original fender twin reverb. and i play les pauls and a strat or two. you guys have extreme guitars. twangy tele and beautiful les paul. but one thing once you get into all those pedals i dont know what is pedals and what is the amp itself. very confusing. sure i use pedals too!! but Damn!!! andertons and you and pete are great though. i watch most all your videos for years
Cub is 30 watts right?
Nice tones but two of the amps available as B Stock have been repaired apparently, which leads me to question why?
I have a cub and some were recalled because of a transformer problem. Once replaced under warranty it sounds even better and reassuring that they addressed the problem
@@lbrimble100 that’s reassuring and nothing to worry about in that case. Thanks for the update. Lovely sounding amps 👍
“My pedal board today is the silver tumnus, I don’t know if we’ll have more of those to sell” uhm no, no you won’t 😂
I like the black cat the most I think
Why does it sound like there's a subtle phaser on???
I have a Bad cat Cub II all handwired that blows my other amps out of the water.
Sick, raw el 34 mid range balls
It's obvious that the tone is inspiring the shit out of them. They sound great raw, vintage but you can tell the way people play them that they feel great like great tube amps. Meaning its more that the tone, as Fractal and UA can sound great but it's to quote Joe 😊bonamassa it's not a result of that "symbiotic relationship with the guitar and player" like it is with a great tube amp. The vibrations that move the hairs on your body and really rattle your insides are absent on modeling amps. If you have driven a Tesla, they have no acceleration timing like a internal combustion engine where you slam the pedal down and there's that split second delay before massive tork slams your body back into the seat. The Tesla is so fast but has such even Acceleration that you don't feel its power even though they are faster than any internal combustion engine. The Tesla is like the perfect looking classically gorgeous woman who is great but does not have that animalistic pheromonal visceral thing that some super hot women who may not be museum pieces but are just sexy as hell. A great tube amp is at times and volumes a bit rough around the edges and temperamental but dynamic, responsive, explosive and filthy but articulate and beautiful.
It's not like a jazz amp which, frankly, the top modeling amps tend to play like from a physical. Connection perspective. They might sound like a classic tube amp but the physical connection between the player and the amp is absent and the physical feeling is sterile and therefore it may allow for perfect playing but not that ballsy and let it all hang out type playing that most rock and blues cats live for. The most intrinsically great performances are predicated on the player feeling like he is indistinguishable from his guitar and rig. He is part of the signal chain. Playing a pristine amp or driving a Tesla is more like highly precise surgery vs driving a high powered truck through a muddy unpredictable trail. I am talking out of my ass but those of you who live driving cranked tube amps (a totally different skill set than playing a digital amp) know exactly what I am talking about The former is like controlling a wild horse and the latter is like sailing over glassy water with wind moving in one direction where the players ability to tame the dragon is not tested. The rig doesn't fight back.
44k views in 4 weeks and only 1.3k likes? COME ON PEOPLE! :)
Billy Gibbons, perhaps. Definitely some David Grissom tones.
Damn that amp sounds good. But then again it's probably ran thru numerous pedals and several other amps with special mics.
Are you On
Channel One?😊
I miss the eyes on the front!!
Meow!
Steven Wilson Porcupine Tree tone .
Pete, how many colors of g-shock 2100 do you have? 😂😂
The 5150 was the amp of the 90s.
And still champion. Well the stealth. IMO
the only amp I wanted to see, was the hot cat..... so sad.
Does lee anterton own shares in bad cat?
I am sure the air is fine there, but I might be mistaken.(intro)
I really like the sound of the cub and black cat. I just think they're a bit under powered. Wish they'd make one with 60w ot something.
Hot cat please?
Will that 1 million subscriber klon get won this year?
Can’t help but think that Bad Cat has been missing a trick by not having any options between 5-15watts.
Appreciate the feedback. We want the Master to act as you'd hope it would, rather than relying on power switching options or lower wattage spin-offs to get the amp sounding right when played at a lower level. No point pretending that being able to let the amp really breathe isn't the most glorious way to enjoy it, but when you aren't in a position to open the taps you'll find some righteous tones at more polite levels too without the need to switch stuff in and out or have an amp that is underpowered for rehearsal/gigging. We're not averse to lower wattages though...
Great amps, but the cabs? For that price? Whew... A speaker, cables, and some wood. That better be some magic wood.
It's where the wood is sourced from that is pushing pricing up. Baltic Birch ply....
Shake the crap outta that guitar, Pete! 😃
I heard #DanishPete is now a Prince of Denmark after the Queen abdicated the throne. No not that #Prince #PurpleRain, a #PrincePrince.
We all move up!! #GameofThrones
A reasonably priced take on the mighty Mark Sampson Matchless.
If you consider these prices "reasonable"- I wish I had your job. Last I checked the Bad Cat ran around 3Gs- for a combo amp. I'm sure the head is even more. I can buy a nice used car for 3Gs where I live.
@@stoneysdead689gotta pay to play in this game bro
@@pperejma What game is that- the high-priced amp game? Because I've been playing for over 35 years, I think I sound great- and I didn't spend anywhere near 3Gs.
