Bad Cat Lynx 2023 vs Wizard MCII 40w

First amp is the Lynx then the Wizard - dialed in fairly close tone wise - feel is a bit different in the room. Channel 1 on the Lynx with gain at 3:00, boosted with a Maxon OD808x. MCII gain is around 2:30 - 6v6 power tubes.

Both hit pretty hard, these were at moderate levels, the louder they get the more thump

Lynx sounds better to me (given the VS context) - would go with it if I were to have to choose between the 2 for the hi-gain tones.

In the long run it’s not even close. The Wizard is the most versatile amp I’ve owned.
I’ve literally used a MTL MK2 in a GD cover band.
Nobody talks about the clean tones of these amps

@@anahowana there's plenty of mine that will chug without a boost, I just don't set mine up that way. If I did I'd need to add some presence, less bass, more treble etc. Boost/OD pedals are more about feel - not just using on amps that won't chug on their own. I don't generally buy amps that won't get some level of heavy tone - it's gotta deliver the chug!

Lynx sounds brighter with some top end sizzle. The Wizard is dark and full

To me, the LYNX smokes the Wizard. But you were boosting it.

The Wizard sounds like a pissed off modded Marshall. Killer.
Lynx sounds like its own thing. More like a Hotrodded AC. More top end chime, less mid hump.

Definitely, the Lynx does a lot and has a cool vibe for lower gain tones, although I wasn’t going for low gain here 😁
